The quote I like the best was from the story in which the man was quoted. "Smith, a Vietnam veteran, told The Kansas City Star on Wednesday that Fonda was a "traitor" and that her protests against the war were unforgivable. He said he normally does not chew tobacco but did so Tuesday solely to spit juice on the actress."

Too bad it just gave her more publicity for free. I think the only reason she has made comments about Vietnam is for the publicity from it. It is after all her biggest claim to fame cause her movies suck.

I've never been called, but I figure when the time comes I'll just ask the people doing the interviews, "Who's defending the guilty sumbich?..." and that oughta just about take care of my JD responsibilities.
Here's an interesting tidbit of info on out spitting friend...
A good friend of mine who was assigned as the rigger at the MFF committee and at SFD-K back in the mid-late 80's (TR - you know who it is - he lives in Vass) hates Hanoi Jane just about worse than anyone I know. Once he heard the story about Mike Smith's spitting on her he couldn't hide his joy. He did what no one else I know would do - he called the Kansas City police dept and asked to talk to the investigating officer. They passed him to the detective, and the detective told my buddy that when they brought Mike in for questioning after the arrest that nearly every officer in the building came up and shook his hand.
Then my buddy asked for Mike's home phone number and by God they gave it to him. He called Mike and Mike wasn't home, but he did talk to his wife. His wife was still pretty pissed off at Mike about the whole thing, until my buddy told her some of the things that Hanoi Jane's actions during the VN war had resulted in - additional atrocitites directed at POWs, etc. He told Mike's wife that instead of being mad at him that she oughta give the man a hug for all of us.
Shortly thereafter Mike called my buddy and they talked for an hour. He has a court date in June for his misdemeanor arrest for disorderly conduct and my buddy wants to start a fund to pay for Mike's lawyers fees and any fines he may get.
I'll post Mike's phone number and mailing address in the GB Club since I don't want it falling into the wrong hands.

Saw some interesting video of our little friend Janie playing on some live anti-aircraft guns and having a hell of a time with our NV 'friends' during her 'peace trip'. This video was shown at the latter part of the Q Course. Needless to say Mrs. Fonda was not a popular figure among the students and the people who received increased attention as a direct result of her trip. Personally, I hope she dies a slow and painful death for her actions during Vietnam. And, Mr. Kerry can join her. Their actions directly contributed to the increased suffering of our POW's. Funny that it took her this long to talk about her treasonous actions and how convenient (use your best Church Lady voice) that it comes after the writing of her stupid book. Too bad it was just tobacco juice.

This applies in general and in particular to rushing to judgement such as I see here.
Johnny stopped at the park on his way home from school. He saw his dad and aunt Polly going into the woods. He followed to see what they were doing. Lo, they were in the throes of a passionate kiss. Then Johnny's dad helped aunt polly off with her blouse and then Polly helped Johnny's dad off with his pants.
When Johnny got home his mom asked how his day went. He told his mom that he had seen his dad and aunt go into the bushs, they kissed and helped each other off with their clothes. Johnny's mother was lived and told Johnny to save the rest of the story for dinner.
At dinner Johnny's mom asked him to tell his story for dad. He did and when he got to the place where they took off their clothes Johnny's mom asked what they did next, Johnny said Dad got on aunt Polly and did just like Uncle Bob did to Mom while Dad was at the war!!!
Moral?? Get the whole story before you act.
Was Smith ever really in the military??
Did he ever serve in Vietnam?
Is he just a wannabe wanting attention?
Do you believe he has been married for some time and his wife never had any idea of his feelings for JF?
I would definitely keep my money in my pocket. The charge can and probably will be handled by a PD. Of course, if he has any convictions he will plead guilty with an explaination.
He's not my kind of hero. Spit and run isn't in my bag of tricks. IF I were to do anything I'd slap her face. Then y'all would have somewhere to send the defense monies.

QRQ 30 - I'm with you on this one. What she did was beneath contempt - and a sure indicator of her character. What he did is also an indicator of character. Personally, especially in cases like this, I prefer the moral high ground and he didn't just abandon it, he threw it away. My .02 - Peregrino

I have been to the Hanoi Hilton (Hoa Lo Prison) a number of times over the past three years. Most of it is torn down (and a French 5 star hotel is now in the place of the majority of the camp-go figure), but the remainder is now a museum dedicated to the Vietnamese revolutionaries who were interred there by the French.
There is one room in the Hoa Lo prison that is "dedicated" to the US involvement. IN that room there are various artifacts and photos (John McCain proudly displayed) as well as military flight gear and "criminal personal effects". Of interest is the framed tribute that they have to the freedom loving Americans who were couragous enough to stand hand in hand with the peaceful peoples of Vietnam.
The framed tribute is to Jane Fonda. :mad:

I have no respect for JF and her followers. What I and the magician are saying is that we have more self respect than to stoop to such a low as becoming a spitter. In times past honor was setteled with guns or muskets not spittle. :mad:

She was up in Seattle the other day signing books at COSTCO. A Vietnam Veteran got into line, and waited his turn. When he got to the front of the line, fonda asked him "How would you like your book signed?" He calmly replied to the effect of "I don't want a copy of your blood money book. You're a traitor." At which point he stepped away and was escorted from the building.
THAT is the way to do it. I wish more like-minded people would do just that, and nothing more. Imagine if it happened 2-3 times at every stop on her book tour.
