For about the past two weeks I have had a rash on my groin. It is in the shape of a pair of tighty-whiteys just under my pubic hair. It started out as just dry skin but now it is red, itchy, and the skin is very dry. Lotion dosen't help at all. I am sure that it isn't std related and I keep good hygiene ie. washing daily and clean undershorts. The only thing I could think of is jui-jitsu and I always either wear gui pants or surf shorts. Any ideas or help from you medics would be great thanks.

This is better than having a HUGE CROTCH and a small unit. :D
Does it involve your scrotum?
Tinea Cruris (Jock itch) can affect all the skin in your groin, except your scrotal skin. The border will be mildly raised and a bit scaley. It can itch, seep, and crust.
There are other possibilities, but this is a good starting point.

Does not involve the scrotum or penis.

Sounds like jock itch to me.
Usually a hygiene issue.
Get some ointment.

Try Hydrogen Peroxide with a "Trigger Sprayer" in it. Mist the area 2-3 times a day and it will clear up pretty fast !!!

D/D: Contact Dermatitis...
Have you changed soaps, laundry detergents, powders, etc... in the recent past, like just before the rash? If so discontinue use and go back with the old...

Tremendously few rashes and such are actually contact derm due to soaps. Good thought process, however, if it were truely a contact derm it would not have spared the "working parts" in said grapesmugglers.
There is a myriad of treatments available for Tinea Cruris-Ambush Master's home remedy has good results if you are too embarrassed to go to the drug store :D

You might want to wash your nuts :D . I had something very similar ......shower morning and night......make sure you dry your crotch well. it should clear up. Some dips*%t med student will try and give your some high powered cream with some type of steroid in it....if you use that junk for a long time you will do some real damage to your skin.
Speaking from personal experience... This can be caused by chemical sensitivity. If you buy new underware, make sure you wash them well before using them, even if they are plastic wrapped. Whatever chemicals they use on those things when they make them can cause rashes of the kind you relate. This goes for cotton T-shirts too. Some that are sensitive to chemicals can develop rashes under the arms, and on the chest area too. I had the problem when using brand new white cotton shirts under a kevlar vest. Wherever the vest pushed the shirt against the skin, I had rash. No it isn't a funny thing when big Jim and the twins arn't happy... :D

Get your twig n' giggleberries down to see a doc so he can gaze at your undercarriage....and for gods sake man, wash your clothes!
If he's not got this fixed by now gents, he's not going too. He would have definately have commited an act of violence from going crazy or committed a crime against humanity from lack of intimate contact. ;)

Fellas, I've got to be honest with you...
I have spent more time in a Rugby locker room then I can count, I went to a Catholic boys boarding school. But never...never have I heard them called 'Jack and the twins" or "Grape Smugglers" or my personal favourite "Twig and Giggleberries".
You fellas are nothing if you're not entertaining. :D :munchin
Thanks for the laughs.

Saw that, figured additional info was warranted if anyone was doing research on a similar problem. Allergic reactions to chemicals can be pretty severe. There are some brands of deodorant that rip the hell outta my under arm area.

Never hurts to add good info, wasn't sniping ya, just adding some humor.
