OK, I bit the bullet and got myself a new Mil-Spec Springfield 1911. Instead of getting rid of the stock mag and getting either a Wilson or Chip McCormack, what should i do to break this puppy in?

Any and all suggestions are much appreciated from you fine folks.

And don't complain about anything until after you've got 2-300 rounds through it and the problem is still there. Pressing question - Why did you restrict yourself to the "bare bones, military model"? Some of the recent inovations e.g. sights, triggers, beavertail grip safetys, ramping, polishing, etc, really do help make it a more shootable weapon. (Course you don't want to let TS throw in his opinion about "finicky, ancient technology that can't be shot right out of the box!) Just my .02 - Peregrino

I limited myself to the Mil-Spec model because it was the least expensive, and I know that I will get a better model in a few years, and I wanted to start with the basics...

Well - At least the People's Democratic Socialist Free Green State Republic of California allowed you to buy something! Enjoy. Peregrino
