If you've been a member for more than a month but never posted, here's your chance. Come on out and tell us something about yourself. Or at least say hello.

Just a lurker saying hello as ordered. Currently getting myself in shape for 18x. I'd like to thank everyone here for the unbelievable amount of quality information and advice that is especially helpful for someone in my position with no Army experience as of yet.

Thanks again,

Not really a lurker par the definition ‘being here over a month’ however I have been doing a bit of lurking.

I am a collage student who has made the decision to enlist after school as I have been in to long to drop out now. I hope to go 18x when I get done here, and hopefully 18B when I am in. If anyone wishes to know more check the profile then PM me and ask.

I would also like to thank everyone for the quality information. As I have worked on web sites before, I know how much work it can be to keep up a site of this quality. Thank-you for both your time on this site and your service to this country.

Thank-you
JPH

PS: NousDefionsDoc did you get my PM, I ask because I sent it two times and neither one showed up in my sent box. If you have not, feel free to PM and let me know as I have saved it to a word doc. and can resend it easy.

Hello from the "Home of the Infantry", building 4, sixth floor.

This site is the first one I look at in the morning and the last one I visit at night. The information here is invaluable, the thoughts and opinions expressed here are usually in line with mine, and the humor is second to none.

I must admit that I'm nervous posting to this site, and this will be my last unless otherwise directed.

I didn't understand what RL meant, but he's a lawyer and a lot smarter than a knifemaker.
Heck yes you should post here when you want. I think that last thing RL said means don't be chew toy.

I guess saying hello can't hurt. Out of curiosity, do any of you gents happen to know Maj. Bob Bevelacqua? Seeing him speak several times on news shows and reading some interviews with him has been a big spark in my interest in SF, especially after his comments today about that ex-hostage Italian journalist. I ordered his book yesterday, once I get a hold of it I'll let you all know what I think about it.

Enjoy the boards.

Hey guys,

I want to start with a sincere Thank You to all the Quiet Professionals and higher ups on the site. Whether it's a motivational quote or a 4-page story about selection, your knowledge and wisdom is invaluable and it does wonders while I’m still on the outside looking in.

I've been a member for a couple of weeks. I already made a few posts, but I’ll formally introduce myself again.

I'm in my 1st semester of college, but it's not what I want right now. I plan on signing my 18X contract mid July 2005. It's still up in the air though. I don't want to sign anything until I'm 110% ready physically and mentally to start the journey. One 25m target at a time.

I'm also a Pizza Chef. :munchin

Respectfully,
JMH85

So much for trying to go Gray Man! Anyway, about me.

Infantryman currently stationed in Hawaii (boo, hiss, cheer and cajole at your discretion) serving at The Right of the Line, having just got back from doing the whole OIF-II thing. Got to work with/for some Teams a couple of times during the last year and loved it every time. Been thinking about the Special Forces community for some time now and am trying to figure out when I want to attend Selection. Enlisted out of college, so I’m not sure if I want to do OCS and then go to Selection many moons from now or if I want to try for it now and see what Group is like first.

Not too sure what else to write, other than to apologize in advance for my personality. Though it may seem otherwise at times, I am very humbled to be posting in this community and want to learn as much as I can from you gentlemen so I can make a good, informed decision and, hopefully, serve alongside you in some capacity. Thanks for your time.

Hello,

Some here will know me from another board. I haven't been as involved here as the environment seems more specific to the SF soldier, so out of respect for the QP's I'll speak when spoken to, but I'm a guest. I belong to the same family, just a red-headed step cousin twice removed by marriage. (PSYOP)

I'm a recently retired PSYOP Detachment Sergeant (E-7). I went to Iraq 03-04, Cobra Gold 01, Bosnia 97-98, L.A. Riots '92 with the 7th ID from Ft. Ord, Spent just shy of 5 years in Heidelberg Germany working DST and MPI, went to DLI in San Fran for German and a couple other assignments.

Currently employed as a Deputy Sheriff in Washington State.

But i guess ill throw in a comment aswell.

Im 24 years old and live in Denmark,

Got enlisted for a year in a armored infantry unit, and picked up a heavy taste for army work, didnt continue as a professional due to various reasons, one of them due to me being a fuckup at the time - went about missing the smell for a while, and then desided to join what i guess, is the danish equalent of the homeguard, in a recon/patrol unit.

Found this site through a post on socnet a while ago, and been lurking and learning ever since - alot of valuable insight and some great people in here :munchin

Have thoroughly enjoyed the forum for several months and can't even begin to say how much respect I have for the folks here.

I enjoy the humor and try to pick up the odd tidbit of info on gear and such that would be useful to my son. He's been back for about 5 months after a year and 27 days in the Tikrit area. He's vacillating between tryout for SF and the Green to Gold program. He's a pretty squared away kid and will likely do well either way.

I work for a prosecutor's office doing child support investigations, ride herd on about 85 NLETS terminals and teach folks which end of a pistol to point down range. Been doing variations of that theme since age 18. I enjoy SIG & Detonics pistols, Al Mar knives, Carta Blanca beer and green-eyed women (or various combinations thereof).

Hello all,

I have been a member for a little over a year now. Even though I am a registered user, I normally appear as one of the “guests” in the list of viewers.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you. A lot of teaching and learning takes place here on a daily basis, and I would just like to acknowledge all of your collective and individual efforts.

I had been attempting to do my best at staying out of sight so that nothing could come back and bite me on the ass, but considering that I am now DQ’ed from service I have no need to play the grey man anymore.

My name is Bruce and I am a student. I am working on getting my pilot’s license at the moment and I should be taking the bar exam sometime in the next 12 months.

I have spent quite a bit of time here in the past year and feel as though I have gotten to know many of the regular posters; as well as you can get to know anyone by reading what they write on the internet. I suppose now is as good a time as any for you all to get to know me. That is assuming that you’ll have me.

Thanks NDD, this thread is just the push I needed to come out of the shadows.

I'm not sure how much help I can be. I didn't go to a first tier school, but most of the time I can pretend like I know what's going on. I guess so as long as there are a few of us we can deny everything and make counter accusations.

Pete, Please don't make fun of the US Navy Infantry Auxillery.

The only way to make a grumpy Marine happy is to hit him with a bucket of salty water followed by a bucket of sand. He'll start :D and rubbing the sand around and make cooing sounds. Soon followed by loud grunting sounds, a firey look in the eyes and a fast charge up the nearest hill.

After that he's a happy go lucky fella' ready to sit down and have a beer with you. My generation of the family split about 50/50 between the Army and the Marines.

It takes may cogs on the great green machine to keep the wheels turning and the Marines do their part very well.
