WARNING:
Last Monday, I purchased a hat on ebay and used PP like I have many many times before. The seller sent me the USPS tracking number. All is well.. THEN
I received a msg from USPS(??) The package is undeliverable (see attached screencap) It directs me to a fuzzy USPS website???
Called USPS, and after 2 days, they called back and told me there was no problem and the hat would be delivered today.
They also "THINK" the message was a scam and suggest I might want to file a complaint with USPS,, IF I FEEL THE NEED??
The Kick is the Scammers had my phone number(used to send the message) and the USPS tracking number of the shipment within 5 hours of the seller posting the shipment info.

I had one occasion where a seller generated a bogus but correctly-formatted USPS number. Tracking on that was a bunch of "the number is in the system but package hasn't been provided to USPS yet, etc." Your screenshot of their message shows poor grammar and language that USPS wouldn't use. Long story short, I did a pro-forma order cancellation to cover things on the scamming seller end and my CC company is outstanding and cancelled payment for me in 3 nanoseconds.
It's probably not a USPS problem that they can fix. (Also, they may not have time because they have lots of people watching the internet to make sure you're not a domestic-violent-extremist/white-nationalist.)
eBay is infested now much more than it used to be.
Also, I have a Gmail account as a 'burner'. My serious stuff is done in another account because Gmail message text is parsed to sell off and there's nothing to me that indicates that Google gives a shit who might be in the middle and grab it. So the info can be gleaned in a variety of ways. I have proved for a fact that one's internal message text is siphoned off for sale when using Gmail, so that's why it's not my contact method in buying.
I hate scammers as any thief; they belong in a chum bucket.

I received the package. I also crossed-posted to FB and three replied they received the same strange msg. My coz said she was hit 4 times.

BBB advice don't buy anything from facebook, Instagram page. Go to their website on the internet and buy. Its easy for theses scammers to fake information and post on social media.
Scam is on for social Security, to want info so they won/t stop your payments.
Scam is on for Amazon, to want user name and password confirmation also.
Received the same USPS package undeliverable message a couple of days ago also JJ. I ignored the message (deleted it) and my package was delivered yesterday.
Obviously this scam is reaching out to a lot of areas.
Note: I only pay any attention to emails/texts from Nigerian monarchs. My wife doesn’t believe me but one day we’re going to be rich! :lifter

Must be the season (or maybe particulates from Canadian wildfires).
It seems the image scanning scammers are at it again and are doing the Best Buy Geek Squad renewal mass mailing again. They'd apparently snagged a Best Buy email database awhile ago and are now sending out these bogus receipts indicating they're going to hit your "account" for the $417.00 amount but the numbers are bogus. Mostly "meh" - the attachment is a .jpg that you can read that looks like a BB receipt.
This is another example of why I keep an email acc't as a burner that I can presume compromised, and another that has limited circulation for serious stuff. Gmail, yahoo, hotmail, all that stuff is in the wind and their address books are vulnerable too.

I had a charge to EBONYONLINE to my USAA credit card denied last week (thank goodness, they do a great job of fraud prevention). Since USAA denied the charge I figured that was the end of it.
Then the calls started; I had 4 calls in 30 minutes and the caller ID showed USAA. F$%king dot Indians on the line. I figured out pretty quickly it was a scam and shut them down.
Then yesterday got another one. Same scenario. I told him to come over and I'd cut off his head and $hit down his throat. He hung up and no more calls since then.

I’ve been getting the text and calls. They are getting pretty aggressive and do not like it when I start in on them. Funny thing is I only get this shit on my work phone. Guess DOJ gives out their phone list. My personal phone only gets 1 or 2 a year….

Got one of those last week.
It was tailored to the peculiarities of this area.
It claimed that a USPS package was “at the warehouse”.
We don’t have mail delivery here, everybody has to use a P.O. Box at the post office.
To further the confusion, UPS can only deliver to physical addresses.
Then, there is the issue of Surepost packages which are both UPS and USPS.
The area is ripe for this type of scam.
Some years ago, I received a scam call where they said I had a package down at the UPS warehouse.
I am a UPS driver here, we have a small operation, and we don’t make these unsolicited calls.
I questioned the caller about the address of the warehouse, the tracking number, etc.
He kept trying to follow his script to get personal information.
Eventually, I told him I would go down to the warehouse, dig through the clerk pile, and deliver the package to myself.
After a few more efforts to stay on script, he gave up and ended the call.
