Someone needs to hear this.

As the RED Wave dissipates in a fine mist across the nation, I'll go out on a limb and say

The Donald should retire.

The left has so much hate for him and anything related to his zeal, that he effectively helps Democrats more than Republicans.. 🙁

This ship needs a new Captain..

IDK, change my mind 🙁

Agreed. While his prowess as POTUS can be debated for days, he lost the political fight. Nancy and others smeared him consistently enough that the shit won’t rub off now. Even if he runs again, and can deliver miracles, people don’t want the drama attached to it.

Agree and have been of this mind after his loss in 2020...the only thing that can energize dems in this climate is Trump. GO HOME and keep a low profile (right)

Absolutely agree.
The only reason for Trump to run again is for his ego, not for the good of the country or the Republican party.

Trump = Covid lockdowns, killer fast tracked vaccines, bump stock bans, red flag law support

I'm generally a big fan of the orange man - for the main reason that it was his cultivated brand of political showmanship with a spoonful of crazy that forced people to acknowledge that something in DC is fucking broken. The light has been shined and people have to accept or reject the fact that "Permanent Washington" is not your friend - REGARDLESS of your party affiliation.

The problem is, there really are a lot of aMEriKanS still skulking along blindly praising their favorite political performer from their favorite partisan polyticks team - that forget than the COVID lockdowns started under President Trump. We had enough resources and access to knowledge, that 'we the people' could have better navigated that over-hyped and contrived crisis. Instead, President trump let himself be pressured into handing Saint Anthony Fauci the power to initiate the economic car wreck that some of us will be recovering from for years.
My 401k is SHIT after these last few years and it isn't going to rebuild itself anytime soon.

Fast tracking the vaccines can be taken however people wish to take it - good bad or indifferent - but the idea of letting the pharmaceutical companies run wild with no legal repercussions started on Trumps watch because he yielded to political pressure instead of firing Saint Anthony during act-one of the COVID-19 show.
The end result - the vaccine that forced the deep state to redefine the word "vaccine" - the vaccine that has compromised the military career of good people - the vaccine that has cost people their jobs - and the vaccine that has possibly cost people their very lives was all broht about by an administration scrambling to ease public opinion during a crisis that was clearly NOT as bad as the liberal media machine made it out to be.
...come on' man: Everyone knows "the line"by now:

"Thank god I got "the shot", or this third bout of COVID that I've had since getting twice vaccinated and boosted and boosted again, would have been MUCH worse"

President Trump "owns" the bump stock bans - that was done just to curry favor during a point of low ratings. did suppressor laws get through before the administration decided to back off on pushing for expanding our 2A freedoms?
Or did we worhsip a "pro-gun" polytishin that allowed more restrictive measures to creep in on us?
Don't listen to what I have to say - read, learn, think, and then make your own decisions based on "where we are today"

President Trump "owns" his support for red flag laws. A man of the law that supports guilty until proven innocent when it comes to gun ownership. My guns rights don't seem to have gotten better between 2016 and 2020 - but thats just what the view looks like from my own personal foxhole.

Does that mean I wouldn't vote for him again?
It does NOT mean that at all - I'll vote for him as often as your average democratic activist will vote for Joe Biden. That still doesn't mean that it might be time for him to realize that even Nolan Ryan got pulled for a relief pitcher when things weren't going his way.

The bigger problem is how UNWILLING career reptilians
...sorry - autocorrect - I meant "career republicans"

The bigger problem is how UNWILLING our career republicans seem to be when it comes to throwing even a fraction of shit BACK at the democrats.
The democrats are the meanest shit slinging monkeys in the zoo.
Republicans on the other hand, are like that little ass kissing teachers pet that reminds the teacher that we didn't get any homework to do over the long weekend...
...and here we are, no better off than we were four years ago.

For now, it looks like I'll just have to go back to doing like many aMEriKanS have been doing for decades - voting against the other party - not "for" my own candidate.

I was happy to vote FOR donald Trump in 2016. I voted AGAINST Joe Biden's handlers in 2020.
I'll vote against vote against democrat handlers again in 2024 unless something better comes along but I'm not going to hold my breath.

I like how Trump seems to be a lightning rod for the lefticrats (both parties). In a perfect world he’ll keep baiting them with a run and then announce that he’s not running. The waste of time and energy could just be worth it.

On a more strategic front, the aMeriKan slothery could care less about anything politikal. They are more worried about the score of sports ball and why the local super-box store doesn’t have their favorite flavor of fatty cake soda available in super-jumbo…..

While this may seem to be an overall negative, I see it as an actual positive thing. We, the Men of this forum, have done our jobs, and this is the proof. The average citizen doesn’t worry about jack shit because of our sacrifices.

We Won! Enjoy the Win already!

Totally agree and I am glad you started the conversation.Ditto. It's going to get crazier if he runs because there are still some serious cultists out there. I get that it takes the audacity he has sometimes to get the commies to pull the curtain back like they did & still are. But he regularly ruins political potential for others because he can't keep his ego in check. It's kind a like a certain blond cavalry Lt. Col. who got lucky once in the Civil War and charged a position with no intel, no previous recon, and no scouts out. He came out Ok so thought it would work again at Little Big Horn.

As to the cultists, I don't mean the admirerers, or twice voters (I was one), or those appreciating the concept of America First.

These are not MegaMAGA, or even Ultra MegaMAGA. These are Supercalifragi-MAGA. But I don't think they have the numbers to run a national campaign when faced with a couple of viable alternatives.

For me the music died when I heard: "Take the guns first. Do due-process later." Hopefully there are some different voices in his bunker.

Trump might be better suited in a role as a promotor or running interference for the cause rather than a candidate. Trump is problematic in his current role, but self serving RINO's like McConnell, McCarthy, Graham, Romney, Rona McDaniel, Karl Rove, etc are just as much or more of the problem for the conservative cause.

The Conservative Treehouse has this to say:

Wow, so much intelligent thought and insight in one thread.

I too am a Trump voter (x2), and as Box has opined, would vote for him again. BUT, I don’t think he will be the best for the nation. He keeps confusing his own wants with the nations needs. We do not need an President who appears primarily EGO driven, without a philosophy for governing, and a willingness to destroy anyone, if he even suspects “alienation of affection”, or a lack of a bended knee.

He is bombastic when tact is required, petty when he must be Magnanimous, divisive when it is not required, Braggadocio when such conduct is inappropriate and off-putting, Is loath to admit a mistake or error, often blaming others,
He often speaks “off the cuff” on sensitive issues and information (remember B1Bob Dornan), and is far too open with the legacy press / media. Someone once said of him that he wants to be the bride at every wedding, and the corpse at every funeral.

In spite of his business success, he lacks basic skills in recruiting competent staff; was easily impressed with “shiney things” (and hired them), poorly manages, or micromanages good staff, (‘till thy leave), and cannot identify who the “BAD” guys in government service are, and either not appoint them, or remove them for cause. Cases on point, (a bakers dozen), in no particular order: Bolton, Esper, Haspel, Kelly, Mattis, Miller, Pompeo, Priebus, Ross, Scaramucci, Sessions, Tillerson, Wray.

GOOD POINTS

He handled foreign affairs in a superb manner, developing some connections with foreign leaders that was not possible, or even attempted, with other Presidents.

He stabilized the world for a short time, and it appeared that a major war or threats of war were in the rear view mirror.

He tapped into the American spirit (much like Reagan) and made us proud of our country (especially after the Kenyon) and hopeful about the future.

He truly admired the Military, and was proud and happy to be in their presence.

He Started building the border walls, and drastically slowing illegal immigration.

He attained American energy independence.

He reduced the Tax burden on average citizens, and simplified the tax code and regulations.

He realigned the Supreme Court with a centrist approach.

If he runs again, I will vote for him, and not as a protest vote against the democrat, but because there is no one on their side of the fence that can hold a candle to this mixed blessing we have had as the POTUS.

I agree with all this and I voted for Trump twice also. I have been of the opinion for a few months that DeSantis may be the best GOP candidate now.

Desantis is Trump without the poor impulse control, the massive ego, or twitchy twitter-thumbs. Trump would have been fine had he just STFU on occasion and had someone tied his thumbs together.

Laike ya'll, I voted for Trump. Will do it again if that is the only choice, but we HAVE to do better. His lack of character is disturbing. We don't need the republican equivalent of Bill Clinton, we need a competent, magnanimous, virtuous, humble person withe a sense of putting the Country over self.

Totally agree! I voted for him twice (and would again if that’s the only option) but I believe DeSantis is the best choice as of now.

The ego of Trump is the blind spot for the man. He backed candidates that were not the better choice, but were the ones that kissed his ass; and they got theirs handed to them…which stemmed what should have been a red tsunami. JMOO

So….. maybe I’m reading too much into this but….. An impeached president who was followed by a guy worse than the peanut farmer (that allowed the Russians to invade a neighbor, pulled out of a really long and unpopular war, and has crazy inflation issues) is trying to compete with a Republican Governor from a populous costal state named Ron? Yeah……. History may not repeat itself, but it definitely has the potential to rhyme…….

Very succinct…

There are bigger problems with the Republican Party than just Trump issues, most of us realize poor leadership, operational performance , staffers, general strategy, etc…

However Peregrino was not wrong to say, I paraphrase “In the end there are really just two choices to vote for.”

Well, our system is dead and will not revive unless drastic changes are made. Politicians as careerists have given themselves unlimited power and ruined our country by playing to the money. Both parties, which is also a flaw. Why are we always down to just 2 choices? Because the political machine controls it, and it is controlled with money.

I'm going to take a wild shot and guess there is maybe 1 percent of our state, or federal politicians that are actually there for the right reasons.

Orange man bad isn't what's wrong with our country. Electing obviously demented and mentally handicapped people into office is a huge part of what's wrong (or letting the voting machines and tabulators do this). Let's add electing deceased people into office too. The majority of the citizenry of our country have no pride in it and could care less about our history or future. As long as they can have their face in their phone 24/7 and order that triple Whopper and super size fries and drink they have no care.

The red mist, as JJ put it, was predictable with just a little thought. Ask yourself what did we fix after the last election? We can run a credit card anytime day and night and make a transaction that is logged almost instantly yet we can't seem to count up individual votes for days? Yeah, there is a little more wrong than Orange man bad.

Oh, I'm not a cultist, nor even a big fan. I didn't like Trump when he was the runner but I did vote for him. Yes he had his flaws but he did try to push our country back in the right direction for the most part. I gave a rats ass about his tweets. I'm not on twatter so it didn't affect me. Reagan had his flaws too, as does every human. But, I don't think there was ever a person that was so publicly harassed, attacked, conspired against, and vilified as this man. Just think about it, his slogan of MAGA, is now presented as extremist terrorists now. We are in a lopsided country of evil politicians and bad actors behind the scenes.

Our system is dead. Trump can't fix it and Desantis can't fix it. The flaws and cracks are to deep. The vote no longer matters.

Just my opinion, but I have two problems with DeSantis:

1. He just signed up for another 4-year stint as FL governor. To just abandon FL to go after the presidency sucks, imho. He has done an excellent job in FL.

2. Who is backing him right now - and giving him money. It would seem that the globalist scum are going all-in for DeSantis to run for president in 2024. That creates a big problem. If Trump AND DeSantis run in the 2024 Republican primary for president, that will make for an ugly primary. Both may be bloodied; and, by extension, tarnished. That seems like the kind of a "primary" the globalists (and that includes, especially, the GOPe) want in 2024. Use the old "divide and conquer" strategy. Trump's reference to "DeSanctimonious" seemed to me to be his way of letting DeSantis know that Trump knows what is going on behind the scenes.

President Trump is not beholden to the globalist multi-nationals for money. Ron DeSantis is. And if DeSantis accepts their money and their backing, they will own him.

An interesting article about all of this:

Something else that people need to consider...

The shit-fisted republican establishment will sink the ship before they will support another Trump campaign.

-The Royal Order of the Bush Family all but bragged about their support for the wife of their good friend Bill.
-The carpet bagger from Arizona that campaigned on building a wall and repealing oBaMaKare couldn't wait to attack trump at every chance he got.
-Milt Rummy - well - do I really need to say anything about Milt Rummy?
-That fucking crook from NC that used his position in the senate to absolutely rape the public trust and make MILLIONS of dollars on "legal" congressional insider trading because he knew he was getting ready to help ass fuck the US economy during the COVID hysteria ..
...for those- of you that can't keep up -yes - I'm talking about Richard Burr.
-The list of sad sack republicans that undermined our nation because of their petty personal grievances with Trump goes on and on.

In fact, I would say that the only people most of our modern day republicans hate worse than their democratic opponents are republican voters.
-The Permanent-Washington-Republicans hate democrats
-The Permanent-Washington-Republicans really fucking hate republican voters.

So we find ourselves in quite a pickle.
Do we continue to fight for a second Trump administration - as much out of concern for the well being of the nation, as it is in spite of those that help swindle him out of office?
...or do we look for someone that hasn't been covered in the shit being thrown by the circus monkeys inside the beltway?

Even though Joe Biden is only in office because of small but strategic bouts of election fraud in just enough counties to tip a few key states - he's still the president.
...a comment that countless worthless bags of guts Americans could never manage to say about the last POTUS.

Sure - Biden's team cheated - so what?

Lets look into this thing called cheating:
cheat - verb // gerund or present participle: cheating
act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage

That is pretty much the very ESSENCE of polyticks. CHEATING
...acting dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage. Haven't people been saying "if you aint cheating, you ain't trying" for the better part of the last century? Well, life's hard - wear a helmet.

The Astros cheated - the Patriots cheated - referees have been caught supporting point shaving scandals to cover the spread - Lance Armstrong - Olympians getting caught blood doping - for shit sakes, Mike Tyson bit a guy's fucking ear off - but the game plays on.

Let's not all pretend that politicians getting elected after stuffing a few ballot boxes is a new thing. It's been going on in this country for over 240 years. Let's move on - Lesko Brandon is the POTUS - whether he's sane enough to get through the day without a team full of handlers or not. He's probally pissed hiself at least once or twice since he moved into the free government housing on Pennsylvania Avenue - but who cares - we all been there - 19 Heinekens and even the best of us are subject to a leaky bladder.
Hail to the chief and all that jazz.

...but back to my baseball analogy. Sometimes, even the star pitcher gets pulled in the bottom of the 9th because the game is more important than the pitcher's ego.

Just my two cents

Just my two centsThe message-shapers are busy putting forth a zero-sum premise, that if one is not in devout favor of Trump one must de facto be anti-populist. (It's pretty evident this is not the case.) But if you're mad that Sandy Koufax gets pulled in the 9th, you must hate his team and, by God, you might even be reliably accused of hating Baseball.

Attacking the wrong problem.

The federal government is too powerful, regardless of which party wields that power.
Corruption is deeply rooted in the bureaucracy and in the very structure of the election system.

Political power at the federal level is, at best, a delaying action.
Our best hope lies in a convention of the states.

The progress is slow, but steady.
The best way to fix the federal government is not to allow them to participate in the changes.

I beg to differ. Our best hope does NOT lie with a so-called "convention of the states". There is nothing wrong with the current U.S. Constitution. What is wrong is that people we elect (supposedly) and those in the judicial system have not adhered to their respective oaths of office to abide by that Constitution - not to mention the bloated bureaucracy who never feels obligated to obey the Constitution.

Here are a few articles that explain best why a Con-Con is not the way to go to correct our current problems:

There is a wealth of information in the above articles. And information about why a Con-Con, particularly at this time in our nation's history, would be a really bad idea. Last but not least, even if by some miracle some good for our country came out of a Con-Con (not bloody likely), who is to say that the same people who have already sworn an oath to abide by and defend our current Constitution - and have not - would honor their oaths to a new constitution?
Food for thought.

GratefulCitizen

Not a con-con, an article V convention.

Any amendments proposed at such a convention would have to be ratified by 38 state legislatures.
If 38 state legislatures would ratify a detrimental amendment, then the nation is already well past saving.

The only purpose of the article V convention would be to enable the possibility of restricting the power of the federal government.
Congress will never propose an amendment to restrict its own power.

You think the civil unrest was bad in 2020? Anybody want to make bets what's going to happen in '25 if he's elected?

I'm politically conservative and yes, I voted for him in '16. He had some good ideas, but I don't really like the guy. Couldn't believe some of the stuff he was saying about other people in the media. He also fired some decent people in his cabinet. His presidency seemed more like a show.

If he ran again, I'd probably vote for him but like a few others have already said, we need some better Republican candidates.

You think the civil unrest was bad in 2020? Anybody want to make bets what's going to happen in '25 if he's elected?

It's too early to start betting the line,, BUTT

I am reminded of the 1972 Democratic and Republican conventions in Mijami Bitch.

I was in C 3 20th SFG(A), and our TO&E HC was 60 (staff & 4 teams). The state did not want big riots, so we were marginalized, sanitized (uniforms with ZERO patches), activated, and parked in a local grade school as an immediate reaction force. Kinda like an early PSD for McGovern and Nixon.

The hippies partied HARD on Mijami Beach but caused little damage. We slept thru the convention on Key Biscayne, two blocks from Bebe Rebozo's villa. :munchin

I suspect that's what we will have in 18 months, but with a Woke proletariat brandishing Rainbow flags and tooling around in Chevy EV's. :lifter

Make your reservations early..

Republican Convention, Fiserv Forum, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Democratic Convention, TBA, Chicago, Illinois

Old News: The 2012 convention was a tic up from the 1972, the next may be even spicer??

The establishment of BOTH parties are terrified of DJT. This alone is enough to support him. Everyone knows he has the dirt on everyone. They also know that when he was POTUS he used the unique authority to declassify the dirt. The pigs are getting into a mud-slinging contest. When both sides are attacking anyone, I am rooting for that guy. Period. Full-stop.

Certainly not much argument from me - I think a LOT of people forget that most conservative Americans live under the illusion that they have honorable stewards guiding republican efforts in congress.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

The real truth is that "Permanent Washington" really is 'bipartisan' - just not the way people think. I've said it before and in numerous places - they are out playing golf together or enjoying a three-martini lunch while the rest of America is trying to figure out how to pay their bills and feed their families.

The problem is this - it doesn't matter how much dirt Trump has on anyone; both sides of the aisle will conspire to clean up that dirt before it stains any of their inside-the-beltway designer clothing that is paid for with the blood sweat and tears of American taxpayers. The next problem has already been identified and litigated - as they clean up their own dirt they will conspire to fabricate dirt against anyone that challenges their authority.

Cocaine Mitch didn't mind showing his true colors either - clearly he was ok with turning his back on republican candidates if there was any indication that they would not support his position as the republican floor leader.
Not that it matters - most amercians still think that crying chuck is the 2IC of the senate behind VP Harris.

WRONG

Pat Leahy is the President Pro-Tempore - but who cares its just government right?
...amiright?

Several senate races could have been turned in favor of a GOP majority in the senate but Cocaine Mitch killed their chances by pulling their funding. Some of these mother fuckers are living proof of the old phrase, its better to rule in hell than serve in heaven - and Cocaine Mitch is the poster boy for eating your young when they don't kiss the ring.

The only thing the republican establishment hates worse than a political opponent is a genuinely conservative republican voter.

If establishment Republicans had half a brain they’d accept the fact that new influence exists and start making deals…with conservatives.
That combination would give them far more power than infighting.

If Trump could put his ego in check for a moment he could facilitate such deals between conservative and establishment Republicans.
But, like Box said, they’d rather rule in hell than serve in heaven.

On a “fantasy football” type side note, the most hilarious deal would be to make Trump Speaker of the House in exchange for him dropping his presidential run.

The beast is afraid. (justifiably or not is debatable)

The built-in longevity of a Special Counsel is a fire & forget guard so they can harass & obstruct from the start. With the Holder-weaponized FBI & DoJ they can surveil all they want, do records creation all they want, and conduct ex parte proceedings to their heart's content.

No one should discount how complicit the mainstream GOP is either. They've seemed to be quick to come out and echo how well-regarded this lawyer is. Whether you like him or not, the commonality is Trump must not happen.

Lately, and regarding the coming 2024 election cycle, my support for former President Trump has undergone a reevaluation, placing me at odds with his candidacy, finding his strategic leadership questionable on three defining issues. The first, is his hubris establishing his administration, confrontation, and selection of key cabinet and agency officials, the second, is his lack foresight in underestimating his naturally entrenched enemies, the ruling elite, and their willingness to undermine his administration. The third, and most glaring is his lack of personal preparation for the position of President of the United States of America.

There are arguments that reason, and historians have well documented, that no individual is prepared for this position, that circumstance dictates response, that delegation to capable ministers is an assumed responsible act one makes and then must monitor and control. That unknown events create and dictate the course an administration will be forced to follow.

Most recent example: Bush 911, vs Bush WMD’s, one an imperative, the other a policy choice. Both of which defined the entire 8 years of his Presidency.
In reviewing the defining characteristic of the initial Trump presidency, internal conflict is paramount.

Readily, his administration is in disarray, the jockey for power from Christy to Sessions, and the only trusted advisors being La Familia, exposes the raw competition and confrontation in selection of key cabinet and agency officials, as if we are engaged in an episode of the apprentice. Reinforced by the inclusion of what's her name?

Then add the animosity of the entire MSM, deep state, and political leadership of both parties, whose allegiance to country is questionable, grossly exposes Trumps lack foresight in underestimating his naturally entrenched enemies, and their willingness to undermine his administration.

Easily, the most accessible political preparation would have been a thorough reading of Nicolia Machiavelli, The Prince, but pride most certainly would have prevented him from admitting his personal shortcomings and the undertaking to prepare.

That lack of personal preparation and awareness led him by the nose to January 6th, which is the most glaring example, among many, that blatantly exposes his total lack of political strategic leadership.

Did he really think the radical left would not capitalize on that occasion; after being betrayed by the heads, (which he appointed) of the FBI, the CIA, and all other agency, did he believe, he could change the accounting/verification of the election, after four years of the most contentious political struggle since Andrew Jackson?

At this point, Trump does not have my vote.

I have to agree with Penn, Trump's time has come and gone. He committed the cardinal sin for an SF warrior: he failed to understand his operating environment. There are ways to do things, and then there are "ways" to do things. He was a bull in a China shop (literally and figuratively), and could NOT control his ego (nor his tweeting thumbs) to operate in the environment he found himself in.

He did some GREAT stuff for the Country, he exposed the swamp, he exposed the corruption and turning of the FBI, DOJ, etc. But he couldn't, or wouldn't "take the shot."

We need someone smoother: Desantis, Noem, Cruz.

The democrats are involved in total war to keep their power and control the country. Look at Feinstein, Kamala, Biden, Fetterman, Federica, Johnson, Schiff, and all the other absolute, drooling, mongoloids within their party. They don't care - it provides them with a "D" after their name to which the commie bastards in the country can bang the election button like a crack-addled monkey. They give zero fucks for the people of this country, they just want raw power.

We are so effed. If Trump gets the nomination, I'll hold my nose and vote for him as he would be infinitely better than anything the commie bastard left will nominate. But, damn.....come on.

I totally agree with Penn's and JimP's assessments of Trump in 2024 election cycle.

He appears to have not learned anything about how politics operate. He refuses to accept responsibility for his failures, including Covid and the poison he pushed peddled as "vaccines."

He doesn't understand that 2020 is never going to be overturned and it's no use continuing to talk about it. What he should be talking about is the reforms and safeguards needed to ensure that one registered voter gets one vote.

His "talk" far outperforms his "actions."

Thanks for what you did accomplish Mr. Trump. But you also own what you failed to do.

All interesting points so far.

I would say that my support for ANY political candidate is in a perpetual state of evaluation. Bush, Dole, Bush, Bush, McCain, Romney, Trump…
…doesn’t matter
I wouldn't trust any of them to pump my fucking septic tank but I'll still vote for those cocksuckers when the alternative is someone named clinton, biden, clinton, gore, kerry, or some dope smoking hippy libertarian that can't cobble a fucking platform that the rest of the dope smoking hippy libertarians can agree on.

I didn’t vote the first two years I was eligible; too young – didn’t care. The first time I voted was when Dukakis ran against Bush. I remember thinking “I hate the idea of voting for Bush as the next president” but there was no way on hells half acre I’d have ever voted for Dukakis. He was such an absolute dumpster fire that he couldn’t even carry the states of Chicago and Los Angeles (which should say something considering Dukakis beat out such democratic heavy weights as aLg0rE and Lesk0 Brand0n).

I didn’t vote for Bush’s reelection. I voted against Clinton. If “Senator Russell Kramer from Ohio” had tried to primary Bush in the 1992 election, I’d have voted for him.
In fact, I’d have even voted to have a “President William Haney / Vice President Ted Matthews” combination before I’d have cast a vote for fucking Clinton.

I could fall asleep watching Bob Dole race dirt bikes - so I got to vote against Clinton twice. Candidates like aLg0re and John Kerry represented some of the worst parts of the hypocrisy that is American polytiks; so again, I found myself voting against another candidate in the general election. Then came McCain and Romney. For fuck sake – need I say any more about THOSE two fucking “republican” candidates.

So my streak of voting against presidential candidates continued.

Then came Trump. Like many other Americans my initial impression was that this was nothing more than a publicity stunt. Albeit a publicity stunt that was WAAAY more intense than just The Battle of the Billionaires at Wrestlemania-23 but still – just a publicity stunt. I didn’t vote for Trump in the 2016 primary because it still seemed like a silly publicity stunt – and with a Dark Lord of the Sith running for the democrats – I certainly didn’t want a reality TV star locking horns with Darth Hideous.

Then things started to open up; I started to believe that Trump was actually sincere in his quest. I watched some old interviews and started to pay attention to what he was saying. Then I thought about the last few nutsacks that ran as republicans and realized, this character really is trying to earn my vote. When election day rolled around, the streak was broken, and I voted FOR a president instead of voting against whatever shitshow was waiting behind door number democrat.

I fully expected him to continue to be politically unpolished and even expected to find his strategic leadership questionable on foreign policy matters but that’s why the POTUS has a cabinet. I was even willing to excuse a lot of his crazy because I KNEW that the left leaning media, the permanent DC uni-party, and even the neo’cons that pretended to be ‘republicans of the people’ were going to come after him for upsetting the apple cart.

His hubris was tolerable until it was no longer tolerable. He talked about draining the swamp but seemed to build his administration out of swamp critters and retired military officers that had ABSOLUTELY NO BUSINESS in politics. Still – I was willing to play along because choices are limited when you start using words like 'decency, ethics, loyalty, honor, and selfless' in the same discussion as words like politics or the District of Corruptica.

At numerous points, he could have lopped the heads off of a few snakes – he should have fired half of the cabinet bureaucrats right out of the gate and let things fall were they may - but he didnt.
I saw it as a possible ‘Godfather moment’ in DC politics…

Michael Corleone knew that killing Captain McClusky was an extreme response. It went completely against the status quo. It would turn people against the family for ‘breaking the code’ against attacking the cops.
Michael knew better – he knew that whacking a dirty fucking cop would publicly expose the corruption to a degree that would prevent retribution. McCloskey had crossed the line and became an enemy to the people, so he got whacked.

Michael Corleone may have had to lay low for a while - but when he resurfaced, people knew that he simply was not fucking around any longer. It was clear that he meant business and he reinforced his level of commitment when he cleared the board of the other rival gangsters that conspired to do his family harm.

President Trump had that chance and even got off to a good start by getting rid of a corrupt cop when he shit canned James Comey. He should have immediately followed that up and scorched the earth inside the beltway to demonstrate his resolve at “clearing the swamp” but he didn’t. Sure, the media would have raised a stink and ran continuous stories about Trump causing chaos by “purging his opponents” but who cares. By the time the democrats had regained ‘impeachment power’ in the house, the pile of corrupt bodies would have been too big to ignore and Pelosi would have been rendered nearly powerless to do anything about it. He squandered his one best chance to drain the swamp and once the REAL villains in DC realized that he wasn’t fucking around, they circled the wagons, plugged all the holes in the dike, and went on the offensive.

The result? He spent the rest of his term on the defensive while even the turncoats in his own party did all they could to fuck him over to protect their own fiefdoms. Then when it came time to fight for the soul of America through an increasingly corrupt attempt at holding the nation hostage over one of the weakest “deadly viruses” of the last hundred years, he was simply task saturated trying to tread water with a cinder block tied around his neck.

Nope – at this point, it is unlikely that I will support him in the primaries when they roll around. In fact, I am horrified at the possibility that there might be NOBODY for me to support in the primaries. Besdies, who exactly is showing interest at this point?

Vivek Ramaswamy ???
Pfft - I've been burned before - he's just a younger, skinnier, less obnoxious version of Donald Trump at this point. His current platform isn't much more than just "vote for me, I'm not woke"

Corey Stapleton ?? Another career politician campaigning on the evils of polytiks. Another polytishin that says we need to reinvest in the future...
...for our children
holy fucking shit on a popsicle stick - is this guy seriously campaigning "for our children" - and grandchildren no less
His website says "we want to invest in the futures of our children and grandchildren"
Fuuuuuck you Corey Stapleton - and fuck any other politician that has the fucking stones to invoke compassion for "the children" as a way of getting my vote - no thanks.

Mike Pence? Pfft - if that buffoon is the best candidate going into the primaries, I wont even leave my house. Gas is expensive and I'm not walking all the way to the polling station just to hold my nose so I can withstand the stink of another shitty primary ballot choice.

The only candidate so far that has any chance of earning my vote is Nikki Haley - my support is hers to lose at this point...
...not that anyone cares who I support.

It is my belief that our nation's standing in this world will not last another four years if it continues to be governed by the current power structure. That said, based on current trends - I don't give a popcorn fart after a bad movie and a couple of under cooked Taco Bell chicken burritos covered in hot sauce who the "republican" is that runs "against" the next left leaning socialist. I'll just hold my nose and vote for another non-democrat uniparty republican - or maybe I'll just cast "write-in" vote for Dr Oz - just for shits and giggles.

Regardless of how “clean” or "dirty" the results may have been – Joe Biden ‘won’ the election.
Joe Biden.
The man who literally told a reporter not to assume that he wasn’t corrupt. The man who has been caught telling so many bullshit stories that they can’t realty be properly catalogued. The man who lost a primary to Michael Dukakis.
Surely this nation can do better.
Maybe not.
Probably not.
Well, definitely not; after all - garbage in = garbage out.

President Trump did more to advance the well being of our country than any of his detractors will ever admit for no better reason than their fury that Donald Trump offended them in one way or another but time moves on. What have you done for me lately and all that jazz...

The only republicans in the public eye that have ANY appetite to take on the swamp will written off as crazy by the left leaning media and will be crushed in the next general election simply because the uni-party republicans will not risk their power again like they did in 2016.

There are fucking alien spacecraft invading America – or at least that’s what they are telling us - we need a President Thomas Whitmore to save us but we’re stuck with the closest thing to a real world Francis Underwood that we could possibly get.

Here is the number one reason why I wouldn't even p*** on her if her heart was on fire:

Trump, Hungary’s Orban to Stand Alone Against Signing Dangerous UN Migration Compact?
by William F. Jasper October 23, 2018

"... In December 2017, President Trump directed the U.S. State Department to leave the Global Compact negotiations, overruling his UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, who wanted the U.S. to remain. He was blasted by the Democrats, globalists, the professional compassion lobby, and the Fake News pundts, for that, of course, much as he was for announcing his intention to withdraw the United States from the UN’s Paris climate accord, UNESCO, and other UN programs."

True that may be - but in that entire article her name is only mentioned that one time - and the POTUS gets paid to overrule his subordinates when they aren't following his lead.
She's also one of the few that didn't absolutely jump at the chance to attack him when other republicans were tripping over themselves for the chance to talk like democrats in front of a camera.

Good choice?
Not at all.
My choice for '24?
Not yet - not even close.
Maybe not ever.
My choice if it comes down to her or Brandon (or some other random fascist Marxist democrat) ??
Absolutely.

I sincerely "want" to vote FOR someone to represent me - but reality keeps that pot on the back burner.
...plus, I'd vote 'for' her just to watch the fascist Marxist democrats meltdown over a pro-life republican becoming the first female elected POTUS

Even the BEST politicians give me the shits once they start to pontificate and she is no different but as I sit here looking at the state of our nation I have one single observation that can be openly debated by all who see fit...
...she's got bigger balls than most of the other vultures that are salivating at a chance to pocket some presidential campaign cash - and in modern-day aMeriKa - it's actually ok for "her" to have "balls"

That's the beauty of our system - we are free to hate them all if we want - at least until the democrats finish redefining "free speech" at which time we will have to hate in silence.

Act now - mileage may vary - batteries not included - no purchase necessary - no refunds, no returns.

Thank you, Box, for your reply. BTW, Nikki Haley's name was only mentioned once in that article because it wasn't about her. It was about the UN's "Global Migration Pact" in general. However, the fact that Nikki Haley was all on board with keeping the United States in an abomination that the Obamanation initially committed us to was what was important. Donald Trump (and by extension, the American people) didn't just say "NO.", but Hell NO!"

For what it's worth, I don't think the globalist scum will allow Donald Trump anywhere near the White House in 2024. They'll pull the same scheisse that they pulled in 2020 x 10 to keep that from happening. But it doesn't matter. President Trump still has my vote.

Box said, "act now". If you really want to influence who will become the nominee, you should have started last year or even longer ago.

Here's how (YMMV as laws, rules, bylaws vary from state to state)! You become active in the party. Attend meetings (State, county, & local GOP meetings, GOP clubs, etc.). You get elected to positions. Most importantly, you get elected as a delegate to the county, CD, and state conventions. Critical - you get elected at the CD meeting to be a national delegate. Failing that, you can run as alternates during the State Convention (good luck).

Getting selected is a lot like a high school prom. A popularity contest of sorts, but fixed. You have to work at getting votes and convince a block to get you to the convention. Depending on your situation, you may have to act like an undercover operative. Eye on the goal.

(Milwaukee, WI - from July 15-18, 2024). Be prepared to spend at least $2k for travel/lodging for 5-6 days at the convention city. Get your rabies shots. Wear a wire. ;)

In the end - you get to cast your vote (as many times as it takes to get the magic number). Look at the recent Speaker vote for example, or the 2016 CO/TX gambit.

Find someone in your state that's been through the process and ensure you know the laws, rules, bylaws stone-cold and can instantly pull up copies, know the process and the allowed tips/tricks you can use to get the job done.

In 2016, Democrats wanted Trump to run because they thought he would be easy to beat, so they didn’t undermine him, via their media proxies, during the candidacy phase.
They underestimated how much contempt the electorate had for Hillary.

After years of media warfare, and many missteps, Trump has massive negatives attached to him and the Democrats/media have figured out his weaknesses.
There are probably many on that side who want him to run again and may be trying to force the issue through legal threats (running is the best way for him to protect himself).

For them, the ideal situation would be a contentious nomination process where Trump has all sorts of baggage.
They want him to go scorched earth against the other potential nominees.

This would leave the base divided and the ultimate nominee weakened.
The Democrats could then run an establishment candidate and still win with the help of some election shenanigans.

You funny Glebosan.

As a conservative Populist, I am a supporter of Donald Trump and have long thought that his bombastic personality was exactly what is needed to uproot the administrative state that our Constitutional Republic has devolved into. Until last night that is.

I heard Ron Desantis' interview with Mark Levin. He explained his governance philosophy as "reconstitutionalizing" the executive and legislative branches of government. His strategy is to keep on offense to keep the bureaucracy in a defensive posture on its back foot. We see the effectiveness of this strategy in Florida.

My support is shifting to Ron Desantis. The primary election season should be very interesting. No assless chaps required! :D

Watch who supports him - and why. Also, Ron DeSantis has current obligations to the people who voted him in as governor of Florida. You can check me on this; but I believe that once DeSantis announces his candidacy for president for the 2024 election he must relinquish his power as FL governor.

Something to remember is that President Trump was able to run - and win - because he was beholden to no "big donors". He had his own money, as well as that of the "little guys" (like us) that wanted him to win. DeSantis doesn't have that kind of money. He's going to need "big donors" and will be thus beholden to them. This article might outline the problem:

Florida Governor DeSantis Brings Politicians and Donors to Palm Beach to Discuss His Presidential Aspirations

"The New York Post, a Rupert Murdoch enterprise, appears to be behind DeSantis’s campaign efforts:

With presidential buzz building, Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis hosted 150 donors and influencers at a Palm Beach retreat this weekend — and plans to headline GOP events across the country in the coming weeks.

DeSantis — aiming to broadcast his brand well beyond Tallahassee — unveiled a new video at the event touting his “Florida Blueprint” as the political antidote to a deepening national malaise.

The Republican unveiled the spot to backers at the Four Seasons resort in Palm Beach, where an influential mix of high-dollar donors, supportive lawmakers and conservative commentators were assembled.

The guest list included Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), Sen Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.), along with pundits Ann Coulter, Dave Rubin and Libs of TikTok creator Chaya Raichik.

Mick Mulvaney, who once served as former President Donald Trump’s White House chief of staff before jumping ship after the Jan. 6 Capitol melee, also was on hand for the Palm Beach gathering.

'Failure is a choice,' DeSantis states in his video ad, which draws from his inauguration speech in January. 'Success is attainable. Freedom is worth fighting for.'"

The Conservative Treehouse also reported on the event.

"As previously noted, this weekend Team DeSantis held an event. 'Four Seasons resort in Palm Beach, Florida, including wealthy Republican donors and conservative social-media influencers.'

From my perspective the framework was clear in the middle of last year. This weekend’s gathering in Palm Beach is essentially an outcome of the Billionaire Sea Island group meeting. The Four Seasons event is an assembly of key people those managing Ron DeSantis have organized.

Christina Pushaw has been working on this operation since she entered the orbit of Ron DeSantis. All of the activity is a previously planned series of events. The current emphasis is to enlist the former Cruz Crew in the DeSantis effort.

According to surfacing reports attendees this weekend included: Governors: Kim Reynolds, Kevin Stitt, Bill Lee. Senators Tom Cotton, Mike Lee, Ron Johnson. Congress: Thomas Massie, Chip Roy as well as Adam Laxalt, Jim Lamon and Dana Loesch. All former Cruz Crew members.

About the Inversion – Money is flowing from the billionaire multinational and Wall Street groups (Sea Island folks) into various political action committees, SuperPACs, RGA networks and right-leaning establishment republican think tanks and NGO type political organizations. This is all 'stop Trump' money."

One other thing: The "Never Trump" crowd would love for DeSantis to run. Both Trump and DeSantis would wind up bloodied from any so-called "debates". That will do neither of them any good; and will result in acrimony among the conservative base - Trump's base, as well as those who favor DeSantis.

We'll be voting in the streets
With our ballots at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone…

We won't get fooled again !!!

…Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

Good points to ponder. I know Desantis will not give up the governorship now, I can't blame him. Not with Trump in the mix. I don't think the two of them running would end well for conservatives.

Maybe 2028 for 'ol Ron..now, we'll have to see who shakes out...

Oh, exquid, I know they're pants... It's a long running thing on one of the bike sites I frequent...but I knew that you knew that we all knew that... :)

One other thing: The "Never Trump" crowd would love for DeSantis to run.The establishment GOP is also in that crowd; thus, DeSantis to be the candidate. Big corporate Republicanism loathes Trump.

Watch who supports him - and why.

Also, Ron DeSantis has current obligations to the people who voted him in as governor of Florida. You can check me on this; but I believe that once DeSantis announces his candidacy for president for the 2024 election he must relinquish his power as FL governor.

These two salient points concern me.

1) I don't think Florida has a replacement that will guarantee a RED win as governor. Many, many deep Blue snakes in South Florida will do everything to steal the election especially as the National focus will be on the POTUS election.

2) DeSantis probably can gin up the coffers, but if Trump does not graciously acknowledge AND support him, the election will be a shambles.

I'll vote for the Republican nominee...but I still believe there's no voting our way out of the mess the country is in.
