I guess that the Speaker of the House of Representatives probably doesn't have security cameras as part of a suitable home security system covering ingress routes to their home.

Quote CBS News: San Francisco Police Chief William Scott said Friday that officers observed both Pelosi and the suspect holding a hammer, and then "the suspect pulled the hammer away from Mr. Pelosi and violently assaulted him with it."
The suspect was immediately apprehended by police and will be charged with attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, burglary and several additional felonies, according to authorities.

There was, right afterward, a witness that stated such. That was hammered (unknown if same hammer) into oblivion by a compliant media. She vanished. And the FBI has determined that any witness statements are classified for 66 years.
ATF has not commented as to whether the hammer(s) is/are "ghost" hammers, or whether the mandatory test nail initially hammered after manufacture and sent to the vast respository of test nails has borne investigative fruit.
106 candy sojourners hit the bunker last night and NONE had even a replica of a hammer. Was nice to see some classic battle axes and broadswords, though.

I notice that some of the dispatcher recordings have been released - but none of the 911 operator recordings.
My biggest question is, how did events transpire in a way that allowed two men to end up in a high security residence in their underwear holding hammers in the presence of police - BEFORE - the physical assault actually took place.
...and I need an officer type or lawyer type to help me on this:
If I was a cop, and I responded, and a guy attacked the husband of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, how many high capacity magazines am I allowed to expend from my fully semi-automatic service revolver before it is considered "excessive" use of force in the prevention of an assault with a deadly weapon and/or attempted murder ??
I mean for shit sakes - a capitol hill cop was able to shoot an unarmed woman in cold blood with pretty much no repercussion - clearly you can whack a nut job that is trying to do bodily harm to one of Madam speakers family members.
Seriously - if I am a cop and I respond to a 911 call at the home of America's 3IC politician and there's a crazed attacker that begins wailing on a human head with a hammer; well, lets just say that Box is gonna get his shoot-shoot on.

I am going to have to vigorously disagree with you Box. If I am a SFPD officer responding to an incident at the Pelosi house, I would most likely retreat because I "feared for my life", set a cordon and called for a SWAT time to handle the situation because you can never really be too safe. That would have given this "poor man" ample time to tucker himself out, come to his senses, and let himself out to wonder off in to the night. All is well that ends well.

Although Box is 100% correct in getting his "shooty-shoot" shootin' on, I am with ex squid. in San Fran I'd call a social worker to come and clear the scene to ensure I didn't go in there and intentionally execute any people of color, trannies, GILBERT's, POSSLQ's, Furries, homeless, nutters, democrats, Bernybois, etc.
That might take a while. But, it'd damn sure ensure that I didn't go in there, as an agent of the State, and execute these poor, innocent, waifs who are nothing but victims of the evil republican patriarchy intent on 'puttin' ya'll back in chains."

WSJ reported today that the alleged perpetrator was in the country illegally. He's a Canadian citizen who entered the US through Mexico. :munchin

NBC silent after retracting Paul Pelosi report under mysterious circumstances
A report that aired on 'Today' was pulled after it went viral on Twitter
"Sources familiar with what unfolded in the Pelosi residence now revealing when officers responded to the 'high priority call,' they were seemingly unaware they've been called to the home of the Speaker of the House," Almaguer told viewers.
"After a 'knock and announce,' the front door was opened by Mr. Pelosi. The 82-year-old did not immediately declare an emergency or tried to leave his home but instead began walking several feet back into the foyer toward the assailant and away from police.
It's unclear if the 82-year-old was already injured or what his mental state was, say sources."
"According to court documents, when the officer asked what was going on, defendant smiled and said 'everything's good' but instantaneously a struggle ensued as police clearly saw David DePape strike Paul Pelosi in the head with a hammer. After tackling the suspect, officers rushed to Mr. Pelosi who was lying in a pool of blood," Almaguer continued.
Almaguer concluded his report by telling "Today" co-host Craig Melvin
"we still don't know exactly what unfolded between Mr. Pelosi and the suspect for the 30 minutes they were alone inside that house before police arrive.
Officials who are investigating this matter would not go into further details about these new details."
NBC News retracted its report from correspondent Miguel Almaguer about stunning details from the Paul Pelosi attack on Nov. 4, 2022.
