Fired NYC employees, many of which were Fire Fighters and Police, are to be reinstated with back pay. The ruling judge let it fly pretty good.
Link to the 13 page PDF ruling (https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/fbem/DocumentDisplayServlet?documentId=JK5E3gx5XV1/ku37jnWR_PLUS_w==&system=prod). Pretty good read. Fired under De Blasio, and current Mayor Adams had vowed they'd not be rehired.
Notably also the judge ruled that the petitioners' equal protection rights as well as substantive due-process rights were violated under sections specified of the NY Constitution.
IANAL, but does this last mean they also have a further avenue for civil action against NYC?
