Question: GPS density or better antenna?

I've been playing with a drone. During some initial setup of it, the controller, and the display I noted something that seemed odd, in a nice way. Years ago I had a nice little Garmin handheld that did really good to get me 7 to 10 satellites, standing in the clear. I look down at the display and this little drone sitting on the upstairs bed - inside the house - is getting 14-17 birds.

Are there that many more satellites up there, are antenna getting that much better now, or some of both?
