What is the consensus on immigration policy as it is vs what it should be?

What benefits, if any, should be provided?

The policy if you want to call it that is 'On the Fly', 'Make it up as we go', 'Do it even if it's wrong' or 'Do it for the children'.

If you are not a citizen and/or pay taxes you shouldn't get a cents. I am sure there are a good number of US citizens living Social Security and homeless folks who could use some help.

This is a great start: Red Card Guest Worker Permit (http://redcardsolution.com/)

Discussing immigration encompasses far more than just immigration these days. There are workers, students, refugees as well as actual immigrants involved. Each is a different status with different requirements and responsibilities - each requiring a separate discussion as part of the whole.

Many claim nothing is done because one party wants voters and the other wants cheap labor. This is partially true. The real problem is that, IMO, several involved parties are only interested in stressing/collapsing the American system.

Legal immigrants - assimilate, pay taxes on earnings, get a driver's license, have fun living in America while it lasts. Further benefits available upon obtaining citizenship.

Illegal immigrants - immediate deportation upon capture.

I'm not even all that concerned if folks don't want to assimilate
just following the fucking rules would be a good start point
but no
that would be bigoted to even suggest
