Russian Cruiser Damaged? Flag Ship of Black Sea Fleet, April 13, 2022 SOF News

The flagship of the Black Sea fleet, the Slava class RTS Moskva (121) was badly damaged early on Thursday (Apr 14, Ukraine time).

The Ukrainian military announced that two of its Neptune missiles hit the ship.

Two hours later the Russians announced that ammunition on board the ship had exploded causing an evacuation of the ship. The crew of 510 has been evacuated. Early news reports indicated that the ship had sunk, but most news media now are saying that it is being towed to port by the Russian navy.

Yessir, interesting to compare the various reports as to ship's status.
A Kyiv news outlet even says that it has Russian sources that say the ship sank while under tow - ahem, in a report dated 30 minutes from now. (Time differences compared & verified.)

Either way I'd wager that some other ships might be doing the electric slide further away from shore. Seems this ship was supposed to be a guardian ship of theirs to protect against the very thing that seems to have bit it.

Largest ship tonnage wise sunk since WWII i believe. Larger than the ARA Gen Belgrano sunk by the Brits during the battle for the Falklands. Moskva is was 611ft long with a displacement of 12,500tons and a crew of 510men. Belgrano was 608ft long. 9,575 tons / 12,242 Fully Loaded with a crew of 1,138 . 323 Argentinian sailors perished when the Belgrano went down.

Even though an old ship with less than first rate sensors and AA defenses, the loss will severely degrade the AA defense and sensor coverage for the remainder of the fleet. So they now become even more vulnerable to further missile strikes. The Russians may end up winning another stupid prize if they don't back their fleet off.
