With Hank's permission, I will post one story of a Gold Star Family
Captain Harry Griffith Cramer Jr.,
died October 21, 1957, near Nha Trang, South Vietnam
Hank Cramer:
It's National Gold Star Spouses Day. My mother, Anne Cramer, with us kids and our nanny at the Naha City Zoo, Okinawa on Sunday, October 20, 1957. My father was killed in Vietnam the next day. My mother taught school full-time at Fort Buckner, both my sisters attended school, but I was still at home. So Imiko, the nanny and housekeeper, had a VERY challenging job riding herd on me all day. I was very sad to part ways with her.
