View Full Version : Gun sales hit record 16M
There is a break down by state, I'm frankly rather surprised at the state in the number 1 position.
https://247wallst.com/consumer-products/2021/05/04/gun-sales-hit-record-16-million-heres-every-state-ranked/
U.S. gun sales in the first four months of 2021 surged 31% to 15,966,389. This makes it among the largest figures since sales started to be recorded in 1998.
...and we wonder why ammo is scarce...do the math...2 boxes of ammo say for each sale.....Illinois should not surprise us either...Dem run state so they know they are on their own...

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa...
The politicians in Illinois said that all the guns that kill people in Illinois come from out of state....

When their mouths are moving they are lying!
Illinois politics is going to be what kicks this whole thing off. Mark my words folks.
Springfield (Chicago) has the exact same ideas politically that the coastal elites have in NYC and Cali, but do not have the “need” to exist (deep-water, all-weather ports).
When, not if, Illinois declares bankruptcy due to their issues with the public sector, unionized pensions, the Fed will bail them out. This is likely to push those free states that are already on the edge of leaving to “just say no”.
Down-state farmers are preparing for this eventuality that is coming and will be the G’s we’ve all been waiting for our entire UW lives.....

All the stores in my area have buy limits 2-5 boxes, not sure if that is per caliber or per sale. What surprises me is that while local has limitations, I could go online if I needed too and purchase without much limitation.
My surprise with Illinois is by how much they are outpacing the other states.

NICS Firearm Checks
Jan - Apr of each year
Nationally
2015 - 2019 = Floated around 9.2 m / year

Insane increase in NICS checks!
1076% increase in 2021 over 2015 numbers
I'd invest in any gun store in Illinois right now.

You will be busy with highly motivated hordes, and you'll be well-fed to boot.

Considering that there are demonstrations by BLM and ANTIFA that have armed participants, it's useful to remember that the "Revolutionaries" are also arming.
They Are the Brown Shirts of the Democratic Party
The Federal Bureaucracies and the Military are being searched for "reactionaries" now, and cleansed.
Your on a list and have been for years if you don't already know it.
I was stationed at Scott AFB for a few years in southern Illinois. Great, salt-of-the-earth, hard working people there and all around. Pretty conservative. Like Maryland and most heavy-blue States, they are controlled by the population density of goblins in a particular county/counties.
Also, Illinois went to concealed carry a few years back. A lot of guns being bought by the hard working folks who see the goblins heading their way if the free-stuff is ever shut off. Remember, any city is only about three meals away from anarchy. Shut down the food supply and you have bedlam.
almost like ground LOC's into the cities are the dems center of gravity......hint...hint....

I believe those numbers are based on NICS checks, and do not include face to face private sales and purchases by concealed weapons carriers.
The total numbers are significantly higher, especially for concealed carry states.

I think it is just further proof that most Americans want to see more common-sense gun control measures.

TRExcellent point. Many first time buyers are reflected in the NICS checks, but many who've been set or got it done during the salad days are making a point to do that old fashioned exercise of commerce between 2 free persons walking the earth, face to face. (No) papers please. Always good to have a few of those.

As The Reaper said, face to face and carry permit holders aren't included in those figures. Here under the Big Sky with my carry permit they do not do a background check, your NICS # is just jotted down on the form. For those face to face deals I would suggest armslist.com, click on the classifieds for your state. I expect at some point they will shut down sites like this.

Based on the news....if they did include face to face sales, IL would still come in first...just from Chicago alone.

Most of the face to face transactions involving guns in Chicago would be processed as armed robbery in other states - unless the merchandise is worth less than a thousand dollars.

But but, those are “Ghost Guns” built from 80% receivers through a time honored tradition of individual initiative, skill and independence.
Or, just stolen guns (with the serial numbers ground off) sold or bartered through the black market and traded for drugs, sex, money and other material items.
I guess Box is right regarding common sense gun control measures. Course, depending on your political persuasion what is common sense. "Enough is enough" seems to be "Common sense" for a lot of places.
Nearly Half of U.S. Counties Are Now Second Amendment Sanctuaries
by Matt PalumboPosted: May 10, 2021
Thousands of counties nationwide saw so-called “sanctuary cities” springing up to defy federal immigration law, and asked themselves why they wouldn’t to the same to fight gun control.
In just 2020 alone over 400 local governments, mostly counties, adopted resolutions declaring themselves to be “Second Amendment sanctuaries” in defiance of future gun control legislation. Many resolutions are symbolic, while others specify that no government resources will be used to enforce additional gun laws.

As long as those counties aren't plagued by cops like the ones in Plano Texas, defending armed ANTIFA protestors everything should be juuuust fine. The truth is, it is my sad belief that a lot of these "2d Amendment Sanctuary Cities" are nothing more than conservative virtue signalers trying to hold on to their power. Lest ye forget, there were more than just a "few" republicans that voted in favor of the 1994 assault weapons ban...

"Oh but "MY" guy is a good solid conservative" you might say...
You mean good solid conservatives like Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms?
...replaced by dependable conservatives like Tom Tillis and Richard Burr
Maybe Orin Hatch was your guy (the guy that Mitt Romney replaced)
Maybe you feel better knowing that William Cohen was replaced by Susan Collins
Perhaps instead of Arlen Specter voting against your 2d Amendment rights you can count on the likes of Pat Toomey.
At least if you live in Arizona you wont be disappointed. Kyrsten Sinema and Mark Kelly will support your gun rights as zealously as John McCain did back in 1994.
Dont be lazy and think that increased gun sales and politicians with an "R" next to their name will be enough to protect the constitution. Write to your elected representatives and remind them that you area ware of what is going on in politics and that you share your awareness with other voters.
If the last 18 months has shown anything - it is that politicians only listen to the loudest asshole in the room. They need to hear your voice. Just declaring "sanctuary" means nothing because just like everything else they do - it's all about the optics.
Then of course there is that "right leaning" supreme court that we need to worry about. If the court votes left again when they take on this years big gun control case, you can pretty much start saying your good byes to defensive carry. Every democrat in the nation will use that ruling to bludgeon your self defense carry rights completely out of existence.
just sayin'

It's my recollection that many of the counties took the sanctuary step they did before Dr. Fauci's New & Improved Windfall hit Landfall. Can't speak for all but there was some serious debate in our county over it. This was 2 years ago. Much of that discussion related to resolving that "if the Sheriff and DA are willing to stand between us kulaks and the State or Fed, will we stand behind them (in a physical sense, not the voting sense)? The answer was yes. And this was not something spawned by the coup of 3/4 November, or the murder of rule of law on 11 December.
I wonder how recent are some of these sanctuaries.

Brother Box, the 94 AWB Senator Murkowski is not the same Senator Murkowski as the current one, though the apple never falls far from the tree.
Does anyone else believe that in order to break these political dynasties, immediate family members should be banned from national office?
The days of serving a term or two before returning to private life were better for the country, IMHO.

Damn - I didn't do enough homework - I didnt realize that Papa turned over the family business.
It's neat - a guy barely making 65 grand a year cant leave the military and take a job making 50 grand a year working for the military without raising eyeballs because - much corruption - but the family political dynasties that seem to amass countless millions of wealth just seem to be handed down through the family
Nevertheless, snarky pricks like myself are somehow supposed to blindly trust that these generational hucksters have my best interests in mind when they cash their fundraising checks.
I don't have a lot of faith in our long-term prospects.
I will do bette research next time - thanks for bringing that to light.

Frank Murkowski lost his reelection run for governor in 2006 to Sarah Palin. Lisa Murkowski could very well lose her Senate seat to Sarah Palin in 2022, thus bringing this family dynasty to a tidy and ironic end. (Sarah has made noises about running against the RINO, but there's been nothing confirmed.)
There have been too many Murkowskis for far too long in this circus.

The Founders would be horrified at the establishment of a political elitist aristocracy.
Incumbency is over 90% in the Congress and family hand-me-downs are becoming more common as others have referred.
There is nothing I dread so much as the division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our constitution.

I believe the founding fathers would be quite perplexed at what is going on these days. We've gone way outside of throwing tea over board and fighting over how much whiskey tax we are willing to pay. It is terribly unfortunate that "politics" has become a family business.
Interesting that John Adams would drop such a quote about the evils of politics only to have his son become president a few years later.
...elite class and all that jazz.
Men like Crispus Attucks would be well beyond horrified if they saw what the fruits of their sacrifice have produced.

Sadly, most modern American humps don't know who Crispus Attucks is without using the google-box.
I can't bash people for poor google skills right now - I had to be told that there were two Senators Murkowski because my google-fu was lacking.
...but in this case, many of the Americans you are referring to are comfortable just throwing the systemic racism card at everything - which is a shame
I am positive of one thing - Mr Attucks was a huge fan of protecting the uninfringed right of the people to keep and bear arms. I am also positive that he would have understood that said right had nothing to do with duck hunting.

I had heard the story of Crispus Attucks and needed to refresh my memory. One of the many benefits to reading the words on PS.com. As I was reading I recalled the weapons used during that period. I wondered what weapon was used and possibly who fired the "shot" that killed Mr. Attucks. I found a trial held for the man who was found guilty and a description of the weapon, very interesting reading. The man was, William Warren and the firearm used was by description a double barrel handgun. I am going to post a link to the trial, interesting reading.
http://law2.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/bostonmassacre/indictment.html
I have fired a double barrel percussion handgun in .44 caliber rifled barrel and the trajectory spins the balls outward from the muzzle so that when viewed at the target there is a large separation between impact points. To keep the separation from completely missing the target I had to be within 10 to 20 feet.

American Hump
I know who Attucks was with out looking. I think remembering Samuel Whittemore is pertinent since so many of us here are FOG's.
Capt. Samuel Whittemore, a seventy-eight year old American farmer, became a legend on April 19, 1775 when he was shot in the face by British soldiers, bayoneted at least six times, and clubbed in the head with the butts of their muskets. Armed with a musket and horse pistol, Whittemore had crouched behind a wall near his home as the British retreated to Boston through Menotomy.[1] As a flank-guard approached, he shot two soldiers dead and possibly killed one more. Inevitably, the soldiers discovered the old farmer and inflicted their wrath upon him, leaving him for dead.
Certainly we all would have nodded our heads in sympathy and forgiven Whittemore had he simply succumbed to his terrible injuries. However, in an epic demonstration of New England stubbornness, Whittemore refused to die. Instead, a doctor patched him up and he lived another eighteen years—though perhaps not in much comfort as the British musket ball had torn away part of his face.[2] He died in 1793 at age ninety-six.
