In case any of you haven't had the time to pay attention, every day of the Derek Chauvin trial has been a huge win for the defense. Surveillance video from the convenience store backs up the toxicology report and shows Floyd behaving like someone with a lethal dose of Fentanyl in his system and attempting to buy the cheapest item in the convenience store, a banana, not cigarettes, with a fake $20 so he could pocket the change. Photos from the police that have yet to been seen show Chauvin's knee clearly on Floyd's back, not his neck. "Star" witnesses by the prosecution have been a laughingstock - a self-proclaimed MMA fighter, one of Floyd's romantic partners, and an openly biased white savior female EMT who was reprimanded by the court.
It's shaping up to be a clear exoneration, which means that we are in store for violence that will make 2020 look like practice. There is always the chance that the jurors get doxxed and intimidated, the New York Times just published a story yesterday (written by Shaila Dewan and Tim Arango - remember their names) that laid out everything the media knows about the jurors, proving that the media truly is the enemy of the people. But, it still looks like Chauvin will be found not guilty if the truth ends up mattering at all in this circumstance.
Also, FWIW, the McMichaels trial is trending in the same direction. It has come to light that Ahmed Aurbery was a notorious thief in the area who used the guise of "jogging" as a cover for repeated robberies. He was known to local businesses and law enforcement as "The Jogger," shattering the media-driven myth that he was just out for a jog that day. Plus, the video clearly shows him attacking the McMichaels.

BLM/Antifa has been openly saying they will burn this country down if these men are not convicted, and they have said that they will target the suburbs and rural areas instead of just the cities. To be fair Republicans cowered just as quick as Democrats when this originally happened. This is a not a Democrat-specific issue. This is the entire establishment versus its productive citizenry.

The outcome of the trial is not likely to matter in terms of the violence that will be visited on society by the BLM/Antifan cartel. Acquittal, partial guilty on minor charge, or full-on guilty with sentence of several centuries will not be sufficient to prevent what's planned. Acquittal will be rage, with assault, vandalism, arson & murder in a mostly peaceful quest for justice. Guilty will be vindication & empowerment, with assault, vandalism, arson & murder in a mostly peaceful affirmation of justice.
There will be some more opioid epidemic talk and internet mention of someone having more than 3x the usual fatal level of fentanyl in their system will get one booted from Twatter & Zuckbook.
The suggestion to ID and clarify things with those around you who will stand to protect home & hearth in a community is a good one.

No matter what evidence, people have already made up their minds and will always say that Chauvin is guilty even if proof of innocence stares them right in the face. If I were on the jury, I would ask questions of the case law ad infinitum so that the case would be declared a mis-trial....Let the next jury make the call...If the 1 person on the jury holds out for a not guilty verdict that would force the judge to do something, anything to put this fire out... If the 1 person on the jury holds out for a not guilty verdict that would force the judge to do something, anything to put this fire out...That person is dox'd - by another juror - in less than 8 nanoseconds and looking for a witness protection program.
Over 35 years in Los Angeles I had many calls to Jury Duty, all but one was Downtown LA. If you've been on JD more than once, you know how to avoid getting picked for a particular trial. They either weren't smart enough to avoid it or want to be on that Jury. BTW, only 2 Alternates is rather suspicious, also. I was on a non-news making homicide jury with the highest possible conviction could only be 2nd Degree Murder (and, after hearing the case, I doubted oven manslaughter applied). It was scheduled to last less than a week and they seated 4 Alternates for that one.

Is this Chauvin's guilt or innocence on trial, or is it the alleged "system" being judged?
How does his predetermined guilt track with the principles this country was built on?
Is falsely convicting a public servant in the performance of his duties before the first minute of court proceedings fair under or new "justice" system?
Does the concept of presumptive innocence until proven guilty no longer apply?
Seems like we can take down another statue, the one of the lady holding up the scales at the SCOTUS and conclude as Orwell did, that some animals are more equal than others.

This trial is CourtTV's headline event. It's being promoted in the fashion of WBC, UFC, WWF, MMA etc....... "MINNESOTA V. DEREK CHAVIN" with "LIVE GAVEL-TO-GAVEL COVERAGE". Starring CourtTV's versions of Howard Cosell, Jimmy the Greek, Dick Vitale, Joe Buck and Chris Berman.
It's definitely heading in the direction of headlines like ' LIVE GAVEL-TO-CHAIR' coverage and 24/7/365 in prison coverage including shower scenes. I would throw in the possibly live betting since this is on the verge (if it hasn't past that point) of becoming a sport of sorts. For example you could bet on how long Whitey Bulger would last in Gen Pop or if Jeffrey Epstein would make it to trial.

During a time that many pshrinks would call the most formative (or dangerous) I had no father around. But I had a couple role models available in the neighborhood, as well as a couple each of really great uncles & older cousins and a JROTC Commandant. There were reinforcements of right from wrong, getting up to give someone an honest day's labor, keeping the intellectural curiosity going, and stuff like that. I turned out Ok, by most estimates.*

I think the issue for the defense is going to be the fact that no one has testified in support of Chauvin and his actions. All the officers within the Minneapolis police force that testified have taken opposition to Chauvin's (and the other officers') actions. And with the ED doctor's testimony stating he doesn't believe drug toxicity was a primary contributing factor to his death, that's a big challenge for the defense. I would say the prosecutor surely has the upper hand given the evidence we've seen thus far and testimonies (just not the witness testimonies, that EMT should've been kicked from the courtroom, in my opinion).

Thus far the prosecution has failed to “prove” their case beyond the “feelings and emotional” aspects of the court room. They haven’t even injected some liberal form or use of the required “burden of proof” to convict him.
The city should have considered using some of that $27M to pay for better witnesses that aren’t embarrassed every time the defense cross examines them and they become a witness for the defense.
But, unfortunately for Derek Chauvin, justice will be delayed when he found guilty of something to appease the people.

Methamphetamine will cause the agitation and combativeness you see. As will a lifetime of criminal activity and disregard for the law.

You want to know what’s really disparaging...the pathologist who testified today (coroner, doctor, whatever) who did the autopsy on Floyd for the state, used video evidence to make a determination of death. I mean like really...what the fuck! An autopsy should be based only on pathology of medical evidence and cellular health, toxicology and precipitating factors found within the body.
To use and base your evidence on third party ******* video shows just how unprofessional the coroner’s office is.
Might as well say every drug overdose death is a result of “body-cam video evidence of properly applied restraint techniques used by police.”

I agree. The prosecution also used a critical care/pulmonologist as the expert witness to testify that GF died by asphyxiation. His testimony was based on nothing but opinion and propaganda. He had no business being in that court room and the defense should have called them on it. Not only was his testimony not remotely near anything you could call science I would wager this guy never cared for a manual asphyxiation patient in his life, as that is usually the Trauma/critical care realm. He should know what a drug overdose body looks like...but he wasn't asked. A forensic pathologist is the only appropriate expert witness unless they themselves were on scene.
Imagine this: you take methamphetamine and your heart rate and contractility increase, increasing your myocardial oxygen demand. You also are feeling edgy so you start fighting with police, using every muscle in your body. Your myocardium oxygen requirement goes way up, as does the oxygen requirement of your muscles, so your heart works even harder to try to keep the blood and oxygen flowing. You need more oxygen to feed that heart that's working so hard, but the problem is you're screaming like a lunatic instead of breathing normally or compensating with heavy breathing as you would during a run or roll, and then fentanyl starts to take away your respiratory drive- you are now breathing slow and shallow, barely getting enough oxygen in. But even though your respirations are inadequate your heart still has a high need for oxygen, because the methamphetamine tells your heart and your body not to quit. Eventually demand surpasses supply and your myocardium starts to die and your heart fails. You are now dead. Is this murder? Manslaughter?

The prosecution failed to prove anything except that they should never have brought this to trial or charged Chauvin with a crime.
Maxine Waters needs to be immediately impeached and removed from congress.
Special Prosecutor Blackwell needs to be disbarred from practicing law.

To be a jury on that case is high stakes. Convict or not to convict. If you convict you may be okay. if you don't convict, your information gets released on the internet. You are harassed and possibly targeted for not convicting an officer that was preventing from causing further harm to himself or others.
On another note $27 million dollars is an astronomical amount of money for a person. My company just paid out a 7-figure settlement to a widow for her deceased husband. He died because of no fault to the company but because of his own negligence. That $27 million was mostly symbolic and sets a dangerous precedence for the future

Had the Alton sterling family ask for peace/peaceful protests. It might calm some folks that were going to be responsible anyway, but folks that just want to watch the world burn and just waiting for the verdict like a starter pistol hoping the anonymity of the mob will protect them from arrest or prosecution. The lack of follow through on the prosecution of even the most violent among the protesting folks just let's everyone know they can probably keep pushing it further.

Exactly. I was on a homicide jury in L.A. and we had a choice of 1st Degree Murder, 2nd Degree Murder, Manslaughter, or Not Guilty.

Then why vote on all three? In the case I was on, we quickly dismissed both murder counts then worked through the events on possible manslaughter. Eventually we found him not guilty due to self defense. If they found him guilty of 2nd Degree Murder, why go forward?

Officer Derick Chauvin (and the other three) didn’t commit a crime. He didn’t “murder” anyone, and he certainly shouldn’t be guilty of “manslaughter” for what happened that day. George Floyd died of a cardiac arrest with multiple underlying and precipitating problems all brought on by his own actions.
The prosecution failed to prove anything, especially intent, and the witnesses failed in so many ways I thought they were witnesses for the defense. The defense did a great job showing the holes in this case but no one apparently was listening.
I could say a lot about undue political influence but I think we know already that they can do and say anything they like and it’s okay.
There will be an appeal and this may even be overturned but, the jurors will be able to say they aren’t responsible for what happened. (One can hope that if they are ever accused of wrongdoing that they get a jury of their peers and witnesses willing to perjure themselves for expediency and social justice.)
I’m sickened and very disappointed in what happened today. I fear that what has happened will unleash a torrent of unrest and crime and many many innocent people will suffer as a result of elevating a criminal to saint like status and smearing all police as enemies of the people.

I am thinking that his defense will work on getting a re-trial at a later date once the political rhetoric dies down. There is no way he ways getting a fair trial without undue influence on those jurys. They were gonna convict because they were afraid of what would have happened to them if they found him not guilty.

For instance, to get to one you had to assess that he was guilty of another first, like a prerequisite in college. If you could get a checkbox on the manslaughter charge, which for this level is not INTENDING to cause death - but DID - then you can get to the murder charge(s) and assess those. The sentencing will just incorporate the worst of the 3. And then, prior to his untimely demise, appeals forevuh.
That quick a verdict after having heard, and received copies of, 14 pages of deliberation instructions tells me where the motive was for the verdicts. There is no question in my mind - no matter what they say later through mouthpieces - but that it was self-preservation. On their way to 2nd degree murder, based on having eval'd the manslaughter charge, they should've been able to determine that the lesser of the 2 murder charges didn't apply. But they just decided to vote a straight ticket. It is horsehockey. I don't care if this guy was the most arrogant jerkwad around, this was a tribal sacrifice. And we haven't seen the proceedings to address all the colleagues that could've stopped or mitigated what went down. The fugly is going to go on for awhile.

This “precedent” sets in motion that every police involved shooting (past, present and future) will result in a trial before the courts, not just of the legal process with 12 people too stupid to get out of jury duty, and corrupt political hacks moonlighting as prosecutors, but the court of public opinion and media condemnation.
All human split second decisions will no longer be judged on the “reasonable officer” criteria of what any reasonable officer would have done or considered doing at that moment and without 20/20 hindsight after the fact. That standard was just thrown out the window by his Chief of Police and several detectives who haven’t arrested anyone lately.
We should all know what it is BLM and the radical left wants...they want absolutely no accountability for their actions, and right now they have been given a free pass to radically change generations of progress in policing. Just like the assault on the constitution, the BOR, and the military, the police in this country have been the who and the what that stands between freedom and anarchy.
God help the little people and minorities that will suffer a greater risk of mayhem than the affluent who can close their streets, hire armed guards and shop in predominantly safer neighborhoods than the poor.
Ask not what you think you want for you shall receive it in due time.

I believe that Chauvin would not have been charged at all if he had checked Floyd’s vitals and noticed that he wasn’t breathing. That didn’t happen. That guy was dead for a few minutes before the Medevac unit showed up... not just unconscious, but not breathing, no pulse, I’m compliant because I’m dead dead.
All I saw about Chauvin was a guy who was overwhelmed by events and whose pentium was locked up. He had no idea that Floyd was dead. All he could do was wait and take direction from nowhere until the Med unit was on scene and he’d be done until the next call.
Is that murder? I don’t believe so, however it is gross negligence. Chauvin was made an example because it sets a precedent for change. It also puts all law enforcement going forward on notice. Being a cop isn’t easy, and it just got harder because an officer lacked the compassion to check on the welfare of his perp.

It is going to be a long Summer.Last night the theory got tested when the usual crowd that rides the Greyhound between Chicago & Minneapolis decided to test the mettle of our little town because, right where the 'I' divides is their McD's rest/food stop on the other end of town. My take came directly off the scanner sitting in my commo bunker (and knowing the McD's manager since she was a little girl to get a debrief).
The bus pax - now empowered clearly with having won one against 'the Man' - decided that the best way to behave was to be extremely verbally abusive to the 2 young people trying to take their walk-up order and begin banging on anything resembling glass in the area. This got a local PD officer enroute in about 2 minutes, and a county deputy going by who heard the same traffic jumped off the exit to assist.
Fortunately they were corralled by their driver who basically said, "hey meatsticks, get on the frickin' bus now" and when the cruisers rolled in the bus was in motion rolling out.
But this is a thing that "just don't happen around here." It will not be the last. I'm frankly glad, as is the manager, that dine-in wasn't an option. People are going to have to hold their personal territory and that can get fugly.
Long hot summer indeed.

Given the ebb & flow of the mostly-peaceful public displays thought I'd stick this here, being a current thread.
Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt (R) approved of two bills that crack down on protests Wednesday, just as demonstrators angry about the legislation barged into the state capitol, prompting the House and Senate chambers to lock their doors.
The group was protesting, in part, one bill that increases the penalties for blocking roadways and grants immunity to motorists who kill or injure protesters on the road. Another bill seeks to limit doxxing of police officers. Both bills made their way through the House and Senate's Republican majority before reaching Stitt's desk.
Maybe the Babylon Bee could be challenged to come up with an assessment of the best mainstream vehicles (presumably pickup trucks/SUVs, not your Warpig) that will provide both "best value" in escaping these extra-pedestrian irritants, as well as provide the most sheer visceral experience in doing so. Sort of a Consumer's Reports or Road & Track Top-10 type of thing. In the interest of avoiding violence.

Brandon Mitchell, known as Juror #52, told Minneapolis news outlets Monday that he attended the Aug. 28 march in Washington, D.C., featuring speeches by George Floyd’s siblings, while a photo circulating online shows him with two cousins wearing the T-shirt as well as a “Black Lives Matter” hat.
What may come back to haunt the prosecution is that Mr. Mitchell, 31, answered “no” when asked during jury selection if he had attended any protests for George Floyd.
