Some US troops view Capitol riots, racial protests equally, worrying Pentagon leaders

During military training sessions to address extremism in the ranks, some service members have challenged why the Pentagon is not treating the violence during racial injustice protests last summer as equal to the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol...
“This is coming from every echelon that we’re talking to,” said Ramón Colón-López, the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. “

I would think a Chief Master Sergeant would prefer to be referred to as Chief Master Sergeant..? (Maybe not in the new “Military”?)
Sounds like he is a perfect solution to the problems the Pentagon is going to face in the coming months and years. BLM/Antifa is a “First Amendment” issue and the protests at the US Capital were an illegal “Insurrection” and attempted overthrow of the legitimate government?
Silly Rabbit!
"...“We cannot confuse a First Amendment grievance because of social injustice organization and some of the criminals that latched on to go ahead and loot, destroy and commit other crimes. There’s two clear, distinct groups right there,” Colón-López said, referring to the difference between peaceful Black Lives Matter protesters and looters who disrupted some of those events.
The looting has been used by some television commentators to convince viewers that the protests were equivalent to the Capitol attacks and that message has left a mark on some of the younger forces, Colón-López said..."
I'm just amazed that somebody related to the military can say that with a straight face.

Brother - you have obviously been out of uniform for a while now.
I have heard a LOT dumber shit said by true-believers-in-uniform more than one or seven times over the last 12 years.
Those comments sound EXACTLY like I have come to expect over the last decade.

I retired from DoD last year and have heard that very "title/position/"rank" being thrown about from the "Senior Enlisted Advisor" at many commands. I even had a CSM attempt to correct me when I addressed him as a CSM. Some "Senior Enlisted Advisors" have picked up the high ranking wives syndrome of trying to wear their bosses rank and authority.
"Senior Enlisted Advisor"
Sounds like somebody sitting in the dark behind a curtain whispering.
I believe it is because he is the senior guy to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs...a relatively new position that is unique and totally without troops.
My guess, that and some services (Air Force.Navy) use that term regularly.

Sounds like somebody sitting in the dark behind a curtain whispering. No kidding. (Maybe Biden has a Senior Audio Adviser.)
If I address one in conversation as Sergeant Major and he doesn't like it then he's not the guy I want to talk to.

IIRC, the Senior Enlisted Advisor was created in the Joint HQs where the positions might have been named for the rank of the NCOIC.
SOCOM was the first time I remember hearing one called that, I seem to recall having a Command Chief Master Sergeant, a Command Master Chief, and a Command Sergeant Major.
This parallels the leadership at the Joint Command level (at that time, the CINC or Commanding General), which was no longer appropriate when the Commander was an Admiral.

More important than the popularity of a joint catchphrase for senior enlisted ranks is the hard cold fact that the troops aren't buying the line of bullshit being fed to them
meanwhile - peaceful protestors are still committing mayhem against GOVERNMENT facilities and persons...
...without national fanfare

He's the SEAC. Pretty big thing, he came out to visit us in DEU. First time I heard that term, I thought it was a bird.
As for CSEL, I've seen the TSOC's and GCC use that term during zoom/team meetings and the term SEA's for 0-5 Joint Command Teams.

I didn’t mean to make this about “rank” and understood the title to mean the ‘rank and file’ aren’t taking the BS PC verbiage from higher ups including the “Senior Enlisted Advisor” to CJCS. Only that he gave an interview to a journalist and they didn’t include his official rank.
For Christ’s sake I’ve been the “Senior Enlisted Advisor” as a Staff Sergeant so I’m not impressed. Hell for that matter as a Sergeant I represented an entire Battalion during a REFORGER exercise without troops. I guess that makes me a Battalion Commander.
Pregnant combat uniforms...at least they are preparing for the future.

This is THE point!! The problem is the administration NOW. Chris Wray...." rejected the notion that Antifa is the “biggest threat”...... and Antifa is an ideology, not an organization, "
There is a good reason why troops need maternity uniforms - because we are so fucked
I believe the chinese are referring to american leaders as baizuo - this entire charade is why they so readily use that term.

The laughter in Beijing must be deafening and, yeah, I know what the VA said, but that must be causing that 3200 Hz constant tone in my ears. Knew it all along; ya just let one damn social worker in there and, well, there ya go.

Yes the next thing we are going to have to contend with are pregnant ‘males’ in the Infantry.
Baizuo. Brilliant word of the day...thanks! Do they make T-Shirts yet?
