Great stuff Gypsy! One of the few commercials worth a damn this year. Of course the cockatoo bouncer with a spanish accent was a close second. :D
Now how did I miss that one? :D

Nancy decided to watch the game with me, we shared a pizza, and consumed a bottle of pretty good bottle Cotes-Du-Rhone, not sure which one.
Any way we both watch that commercial, and I turn away from her so that she doesn't observe the tears streaming down my cheeks, when I look back at her she is also teared up.

How about the one with the guy and his GF's cat? :D

Great ad, I have a new official shop beer.
How about the one with the guy and his GF's cat? :D
Nope missed that one. I was watching something else and kept flipping back to the game instead of vice versa.
Not a Bud fan, but I think Mr. Harsey is on to something. I'll have to buy some.

Nancy, who is the most linear thinking individual I have ever known, stated "Well I liked the commercial, but will anyone really go out and buy Budweiser because of that commercial"?
What do you guys think??

From what I rember from my advertising classes in school the idea behind mass marketing is not to get you to go out and buy the product but to get you to remember the brand name. While it is safe to say that Budweiser is a household name I think the ad is successful because the goodwill generated by the ad will probably influence spur of the moment purchases.

In that, I think you are correct; ie we will not commence buying Budweiser, but I will have a warm fuzzy feeling re the commercial for awhile.

We had about 25 people watching the game. When that Anheiser-Busch commercial came on it got very quiet. Everybody said what a great ad. I would like to think that occasionally, even behemouth multinational corporations simply do the right thing. On this one I'm just going to ratchet down my cynicism and believe that A-B is simply expressing the gratitude they feel. Of course when the ad came on I did have one of their products in hand. :D

Back in the late 80's I owned a Ford Bronco. This was in the days when SUV's weren't a fad and American SUV's were meant to be real honest to god working trucks. This thing was built like a tank but it operated like a old Soviet tank that was built on a friday at 4:45. The thing was a total POS constantly in for service. After three years of constant problems I sold it and vowed I would never buy a Ford product again.
Fast forward to this past year. Ford ran a commercial of a soldier comming home and being picked up at the airport by his brother and mother. He asks where his dad is (IIRC he was a Vietnam vet) and they told him he was at home. When he gets home to his home coming party his dad isn't there. Finally he sees the old man coming up to the drive way and goes out to see him. The father has a hard time expressing his feelings to the son as he wasn't given a welcome home after his Vietnam tour. Any how the father gives his son a new Mustang and there is a period where they look at each other and they exchanged a look that I guess only two Vets would understand.
Anyway, I only saw the commercial once but it was done so well that I no longer harbor bitter feelings towards Ford. Seems silly but one commercial changed my out look to the point where I am considering buying the new Mustang Convertable when it comes out in a couple of months.

Anheuser-Busch Honors U.S. Troops With Heroes Salute
Company Offers Free Admission To its Adventure Parks, Will Air ‘Salute’ Ad During Broadcast of Super Bowl
St. Louis (Feb. 3, 2005) – Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc. today announced its “Heroes Salute” to honor the U.S. Armed Services by offering free single-day admission to its SeaWorld and Busch Gardens parks to active duty military, active reservists, U.S. Coast Guard, National Guardsmen and as many as three direct dependents beginning Feb. 7 through Dec. 31, 2005. In addition, Anheuser-Busch will air a 60-second “salute” television ad during the broadcast of the Super Bowl to honor those who serve our country.
Here's To The HeroesHeroes Salute will be officially introduced to the military on Feb. 6 in conjunction with a special Anheuser-Busch viewing party for Sunday’s big game at Ft. Bragg, N.C., home of the XVIII CAPITAL AIRBORNE CORPS and U.S. ARMY Special Operations Command. Pre-game activities include appearances by the world-famous Clydesdales, exotic animals and shows from Busch Gardens and SeaWorld parks with Julie Scardina, the Jacksonville Jaguar Cheerleaders, live music by Blues Traveler and game-day food and beverages compliments of Anheuser-Busch. Guests will also be treated to a special “sneak preview” presentation of Anheuser-Busch’s advertising for Super Sunday’s championship match up.
“In our own small way, we’re giving something back to the brave men and women and their families who make sacrifices every day for our country,” said August A. Busch IV, president, Anheuser-Busch Inc. “As a salute to America’s heroes, we wish to extend a message of thanks and an invitation.”
Any active duty, active reserve, ready reserve service member or National Guard is entitled to free admission under the program. He or she need only register, either online at www.herosalute.com or in the entrance plaza of participating parks, and show a Department of Defense photo ID. As many as three direct dependents of military personnel also are entitled to free admission. Dependents may take advantage of the offer without their service member, though an adult must accompany minor dependents.
Busch Gardens Williamsburg and SeaWorld San Antonio are seasonal operations that will remain closed until spring 2005. Military personnel interested in visiting those parks should check operating schedules at www.herosalute.com. The remaining parks, SeaWorld Orlando, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and SeaWorld San Diego are open year round.
Anheuser-Busch has previously honored U.S. armed forces with free admission to its theme parks. Nearly 2 million service members and their families visited free during Yellow Ribbon Summer following the first Gulf War and during the Anheuser-Busch Salute to America’s Heroes, a post-9/11 tribute that included all branches of the U.S. military.
In addition, last year Anheuser-Busch donated $1 million to create the
Intrepid/Anheuser-Busch Fallen Heroes Fund to provide scholarships to spouses and children of U.S. military and coalition personnel killed during the war in Iraq.
Anheuser-Busch has supported the U.S. armed services for nearly 150 years. In 1921, Adolphus Busch’s widow, Lilly, opened the Busch family garden to the public, donating admission fees to disabled veterans.
The company also supports veterans’ memorials in Washington, the Korean Memorial and the Vietnam Wall. The company also provides scholarship funds for USO members and Desert Storm survivors.
Based in St. Louis, Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc. is the leading U.S. brewer and holds a
50 percent share in Grupo Modelo, Mexico’s leading brewer. In a survey of 10,000 business leaders and securities analysts, Anheuser-Busch ranked first overall in quality of products and services among nearly 600 companies researched in FORTUNE magazine’s 2004 “America’s Most Admired Companies” listing. The company also is one of the largest theme park operators in the United States, is a major manufacturer of aluminum cans and is the world’s largest recycler of aluminum beverage containers. Terry, I do not, REPEAT-I do not! ...make jokes about my beer purchases. I WILL go out and get that stuff because of the ad.
If I find out they didn't mean it, I'll never buy or touch that beer again as long as I live.

For me that is an interesting example of patriotism responding to a commercial ad.
I may have to drink a Bud because I also greatly appreciated that ad.
If I get to go to SHOT SHOW next year I may have to buy you a bunch of Budweiser.

Budweiser usually has good ads.
Anyone remember the ad they did for the Super Bowl after 9/11?
It opened with the drivers getting the horses hooked up. Then they pulled out of their "barn" and traveled down a country road.
They then come to a stop. The drivers pulled thier hats off and bowed their heads and ALL 8 of the horses pulled in one of their front legs and bowed.
The camera then tilts up to show the East river and lower Mannhatten, were the Towers were.
All with out back ground music.
Very Moving.
I've been a big fan of their advertising agency for awhile now.
Sdiver,
That commercial still stays with me and ranks as one of the top three best commercials ever in my opinion. I wish I had a video of it or they at least showed it every anniversary of 9/11. :)
Although I cannot drink beer because of Celiac disease, I do stock up on AB for guests.

First pay-for-view only commercial in the history of television to go platinum.
Green hats, Harsey Edged Weapons, dead Tangos and Colombian girls in tangas. Lots of bombs going off, big fireballs, Cobras flying gun runs. The TS making 100 meter shots with a handgun, looks up and gives the TS glare. And at the end it says:
"Drink the Beer, DAMNIT!"

I realize the hot topic is the commercial, but does anyone have an audio link
for the National Anthem? No problem finding all the commercials or half-time
video's.
My Cable died just as Douglas finished talking. I missed the WWII Tribute
and the Anthem, which I have been told were phenomenal :(
They were both awesome. Wonder if Fox would have it...
