One of the reader comments:

"Three days before the election Trump approves of a raid to rescue a American citizen held hostage. That says a lot - Trump had to know what the Biden people would have done if that mission failed."

Very well said.

Very well said.Indeed. Especially telling, since we know that the previous administration practically re-defined the term "risk averse" - the chair-warmers should ask Philip Walton if he'd have preferred that Trump let him swing in the breeze for awhile till after the election.

Biden type people have little concept of people who say at the top of their lungs, "Hell, yeah, this is what we do! Send me!!!"

Looks like the indig have one more reason to fear things that go bump in the night. Oh well; bad things happen to bad people - and this on Halloween no less. Glad it turned out well.

My understanding is that this US Cit lives locally in Niger. There is a lot of criminal armed groups operating between Eastern BFA, NW Nigeria, and the tri-border Mali-Niger-Burkina Faso border area.

KFR (kidnap for ransom) is a fairly significant risk to Westerners in the area. 2x French CITs were captured last year and French SOF interdicted them as well.

Nice to score a W on this. There are other Americans and Westerners currently being held by "groups" in the region. It's a huge source of potential income for AQ or ISIS aligned groups if they can get their hands of them.

Great job to the SEALs on this one.

(2) Stand by for a new line of hair-products; "assault Tevas; " books from Ricky-RamJet; and an investigation into 250K in lost team funds.

I’m thinking the hostage ransom business is probably not what it’s cracked up to be, I know of six guys that would agree, oh wait...never mind, they are unavailable for comments.

We got lucky this time.

KFR groups have raised over $125m in North/West Africa from 2008 to 2015 alone. Since then it's been tens of millions or more (can't do specifics here).

A lot of that (vast majority) is via AQ aligned groups. Given then global interconnectedness, we definitely had a good day, and in an ocean of bad days that's a nice island to have hope with.

Good riddance to those six. I wonder what insight we can glean from lucky #7
