What's next a military union?

How about overtime on Sundays. :lifter

OTOH I recall that the EM of the Navy managed to get back their traditional bell-bottoms.

Interesting read. I agree with a lot that he said, except the part about Class B for garrision use. BDUs are still eaiser to maintain and more comfortable.

Sides everyone knows that the Marines still have the sharpest Class A uniforms around. Yep, I was always a little jealous! Our Class A's really do look like a 70's disco revival....

FWIW: Iwas replying to the idea of a petition not the uniform.

One thing about the jarhead uniform is that it promotes physical conditioning. Can you imagine the pear shaped nerds rearing uniforms including the belt? :D

Personally I think the BDU's should just be limited to the field. After all that is what it is designed for. In the business world you wear a suit and tie to work. (at least I do) and I believe it should be the same in the military if they're in the office. I think it promotes professionalism, and, as stated above, it's hard to hide being a fat body in that uniform. Being "comfortable" shouldn't be the reasoning.. hell, why not were PT's. If you want to wear BDU's on a daily basis get in a unit thats always training in the field.

Anyway's thats just my opinion.

I was in a unit that spent most of our time in the field (4/325 AIR-Bragg) yet even when we were not in the field; well summertime at Bragg brings new meaning to the word humidity.
The though of being covered in polyester when the heat index maxs out makes my skin crawl.
Furthermore, who wants to waste even more time (and money for that matter) prepping another uniform?

Pressing your BDUs and shining your boots more then fills the requirement for a sharp appearence, at least for Paratroopers :D !

I liked the cotton fatigues. Starch 'em up good and you could cut paper with the crease. Good garrison uniform. Those and kakis and you can't go wrong. Leave the jungles folded up in a drawer.

Hey check this out. I found this on another forum. This kid drew this concept drawing & it looks pretty good. Everyone there is urging the kid to send it in.

The Marines would file suit for that one!

When I entered the Brown boot (Combat boots) Army, we were still were issued the WW II uniforms OD wool with "Ike" jacket and the summer uniform was a cotton "Suntan" Kakie (Sp?) shirt and pants. (Which I hated.) The Officers had the british green and pink uniforms. Officers were able to wear TW (Gaberdine) Khaki Blouse Shirt and pants. Enlisted men could purchase the TWs and wear them out of formations, etc. (This was a great uniform w/ just the shirt and pants.)

We also had a class "B" OD Wool uniform OD Shirt and pants. I liked this one too.

One of the problems with the Ike jacket, was fat people didn't look good in it. I always liked the "cunt cap with the tall peeks!! (Of course with the para/glide patch and a silver dollar sewed behind it!.)

Once some time in the 50's the army asked for input on a choice for uniforms, etc. We chose the WW II Officers uniform (British Green & Pink). The Army came out with the greens! (Yuck!) I'd have rather kept the OD's. So much, for our vote!

Why not just make the Dress blues the standard dress uniform and issue the TWs with blouse for summer wear! Bring back the peeks on the "cunt cap."

I agree that the mess dress uniforms are great the way they are!!

As for BDU's, I don't like the way they are worn off post and pretty much all the time! We were not allowed to wear fatiuges and/or BDU off post. When not in the field wear a Class B. :munchin
