Feeling “Freedom Obsessed?

This MSNBC commentator thinks so.

Why is it that only the North East Liberal class of American citizrn thinks that “government”is not a threat, as its size and scope envelops us every waking moment. ?

Can anyone imagine asking Patrick Henry, Thomas Paine, or Samuel Adams who should be the IRS commissioner, or head up the EEOC ?

MSNBC Commentator Anand Giridharadas Gets Triggered at ‘Freedom-Obsessed’ Americans

MSNBC commentator Anand Giridharadas attacked Americans’ obsession with freedom on Wednesday’s edition of Morning Joe, suggesting it blinded them to issues like the virus and “climate change.”

Giridharadas began with raising a question of his own: “What's going to be our relationship to government, the idea of government, after this?” Then he answered his own question, suggesting that “[t]here is a primordial American tradition going back to the founders of being freedom-obsessed — even though we’re a country founded on slavery, genocide

To conclude his babbling, Giridharadas made the case that “the most important thing that could come out” of the pandemic is the American people thinking the government isn’t the “biggest threat to our liberty.”

And I think the most important thing that could come out of this is realizing the government is not the biggest threat to our liberty. It can be a threat to our liberty but we're threatened by many, many things. And what the government fundamentally does is protect us from a lot of the other oppressions that we in America are often quite blind to

The Sons of Liberty would be highly disturbed at the current state of the Massachusettes Bay Colony.....

Sure are a lot of these "I'm the smartest guy in the room" types pervading the airwaves, more so than usual. In order to agree one must buy into his bedrock premise, which is why he likes to answer his own questions.

Ret10Echo, concur. Early readings of these states' discussions of things like the inclusion of later rights into the first amendments and pretty raucous discussions over ratification (or not) of the Constitution itself gets me shaking my head at their current sad condition.

“The most important thing” that should come out of this pandemic is that the BIG GOVERNMENT of the CHINESE COMMUNIST PARTY - essentially shut down the world - by it’s actions and omissions. Not to mention the needless death exported from Wuhan China.

Now, there’s a primordial tradition for you.

OK I am guilty, guilty of being able to form my own opinions on things. This horses ass enjoys freedom of the press, without a clue as to who makes that possible for him.
