Inspiring, so much to that conflict. Recently was reading about the OSS Deer Team as well as French Indo China, seems there is always one more layer to be uncovered.

A little more background on my Cambodian Adventure.

My platoon was coming back from RnR in Ben Hoa. We didn't land at FB Jamie but at the SF camp at Katum. I was given new maps and over the border, we went.

Our 1st mission was to sweep a small village (10-15 families). Something we had never had to do. Up to that point we had operated in a completely non-populated area with only one ROE, "win all firefights, cause maximum damage".

Additionally, We had operated in dense tripple canopy jungle, this village was surrounded by open rice paddies.

I was not a happy camper. I had a heartfelt father/son discussion with my troops.

Time in the village about 1.5 hrs, cleared all buildings. A couple of old AK's found with rusted mags and dirty ammo. The elders said they were for Tiger protection so we left then. (hearts-n-minds)

Appreciate the backstory and photos. Like Pat, wondering if you are one of those strapping young whipper-snappers in the pics? Your mention of "50 years ago" already has my bones creaking, lol.

Sorry, Pat,

NO, When I was hit on the 10th, I was evac'd with my trusty PEN EE in my leg pocket and my map. All the film and developed pics were left behind. I had sent a couple of pictures home but over time they also were lost.

The quad pic is of my troops, but I'm not in it.

This is the only pic I have while in the bush. My RTO and myself posing on a 500lb dud, waiting for a resupply chopper.
