Anybody else here serve in West Germany during the Cold War?

The new headquarters is launching at the same time the Army is preparing to kick-start Defender Europe 2020 this spring, which will be a division sized deployment from the U.S. mainland to continental Europe as part of the largest such movement in more than 25 years.

If I remember correctly you need at least two divisions to make a Corps. We don't even have one division in Germany or all of Europe. Just more GO and officer billets.

Sounds like just a landlord force to handle rotations (customers) in & out.
I was in the Corps-MAIN signal company to the CG '73-77 over there when the HQ was in the IG Farben Bldg., later renamed Abrams Bldg. That was a Corps - it had Divisions (INF and Armored), separate Arty & Cav assets, and all the other ash & trash. Hell, the number of people they're talking about would've just been the HQ element in downtown Frankfurt. The Corps itself was scattered all over creation.

Hey Army:
Quit making all these damn GO's you can quit having to find places to put them.

They will just apportion units in the USA to them in time of war. We’re repeating the old 1930s ways again. Ghost organizations with a lot of O-6s and GOs...

Yep. 1 3-star with a 2-star deputy and a full corpse (sp!) staff all headed by 1-stars except the S3 which is a 2-star as well as a CoS as a 2-star. Don’t forget the 2 Division 2-star Cdrs. And let’s talk about the COLs... 🤯

Yep, more O6s and GOs than SFCs.
