Space Force unveils service uniforms with camouflage design

"The U.S. Space Force (USSF) late Friday unveiled camouflage uniforms bearing the branch’s first nametapes for its members.
“The first #SpaceForce utility uniform nametapes have touched down in the Pentagon,” the service branch tweeted from its official account, attaching a photo of the uniforms..."
I guess nobody in Space Force has watched an episode or movie of Star Trek for ideas.
Love the Black T Shirt with star cammy pattern one person suggested.
I liked the T-shirt too, the comments are interesting. I was thinking something along the lines of George Jetson.
Wonder if the guys assigned to security will have red name plates?

I love the Navy comment about swapping.
Still, this FOG's tin-foil chapeau suspects some massive info-op by Duffel Blog.
OK, they've had a 4-star CG. As a "service" now don't they get a Secretary, a seat at CJCS & some other stuff including a "Happy Family" sized platter of egg rolls?
Well, as a long suffering taxpayer, if they simply use something off the shelf, I'm cool with it.

Not yet. For the time being they'll be a department of the Air Force, similar to the Marines being a department of the Navy.
The real question is if current space-qualified NCOs and officers from the other Services will have a choice to branch transfer, or if they'll be involuntarily transferred to build up a leadership cadre. Also, will new Space Force (or SF, cuz you know that's coming) enlistees go to USAF basic, or will Space Force create their own basic training POI anytime soon?
It just occurred to me, THEY are now USSF......
Good while it lasted I guess..........

The Air Force is now totally pissed that there is a service that can now fly higher above ground away from the fight than they can.

Why is it, Space Force and Air Force
But Navy, Army, Marines, & Coast Guard
Do we not have the FORCE with us??

Was wondering about this after reading the first post. What does the Special Forces community think about the USSF distinction being used for the new Space Force?
Was curious. :munchin

Has Admiral Kirk wieghed in on the logo design yet?

I saw an interesting piece that opined that the space force should use Navy rank, uniforms and general customs and not Army/Air Force/Marine . He made a good point.
Separate the culture from the Air Force. Set up the force for the future and truely focus it on Space and not he land.
Not a new thought. Most science fiction writers have long defaulted to using naval rank etc. when talking about the arm of a military operating and fighting space ships in space.
However, I realize that the real focus of the space force is not controlling space to control space, but rather space being an method of impacting terrestrial operations (IMHO)... so in that regard it's just a higher altitude wing of the air-force for now.
Me? I would have voted to give it Navy rank to totally divorce it from the Air Force and then in the future give orbital space back to the air force..and let the Space Force focus.

Gene Rodenberry did that in the mid 1960s with Star Trek. :D And, ships didn't have seat belts, so neither do Starships.

I cannot speak for everybody here... but...
I have a feeling most of us don't give a f**k. ;)
I won't be so harsh as Basenshukai. I don't think it is important unless the Space force starts conducting Unconventional Warfare operations on Alien home worlds.

They will simply establish inits to do security force assistanc, so we will be good.

Heinlein had it that way in the '50s as did others before and since. Lol about the seat belts. There are some really good modern military sci fi writers that try had to address physics.. while still having you hit the believe button on some of the big things (FTL travel etc)

Netflix drops hilarious new 'Space Force' trailer with Steve Carell
If you wanted more Space Force before you've even had any Space Force, here's a big dollop.
Space Force follows four-star general Mark R. Naird, whose new post running the new sixth branch of the US Armed Forces isn't exactly what he had in mind — yep, it's Space Force.
The series also stars John Malkovich, Diana Silvers, Tawny Newsome, Ben Schwartz alongside co-stars Lisa Kudrow, Jimmy O. Yang, Noah Emmerich, Alex Sparrow and Don Lake.
The Netflix series will come with a 10-part podcast will be hosted by Yang and will include interviews with the cast and crew. Starting May 29 — the same day as Space Force hits Netflix — there'll be new episodes Mondays and Thursdays each week.
Looks like the Office Ladies podcast has started something.

The only real distinguishing element on Doogie's uniform is the Doppellitzen on the collar. The single biggest distinction between a Waffen SS uniform and a Wehrmacht one, besides wearing the Hoheitszeichen on the sleeve rather than above the pocket, was that they never wore Doppellitzen, with the collar bearing SS runes, the Totenkopf, rank insignia or other distinctions for foreign SS volunteers.
What I find hilariously ironic, given all the hoopla from the usual corners about how fascistic the movie was (purposely, according to the director), is that most of the uniforms, including Doogie's Doppellitzen, were made from East German NVA surplus. But then, as most of us are aware, and these left-wing critics are not, communism and fascism are really just birds of a feather, so no surprise that they flock together, even in the minds of Hollywood costume designers.
Sorry for the digression. Hollywood liberal fascism is a particular peeve of mine, as is their blindness to their own bigotries.
