A bad day at the DZ.

Someone, other than the jumpers, is saying it was windy.
The jumpers say hell-no...

Images I saw had parachutes all over the forest. No way this was winds. More likely it was CARP related, especially if a tandem jump.
Landed in trees myself on a night tandem jump due to pilot error (i.e. flipped the green light simultaneous with the lead AC instead of delayed). If no illum, JM can't see the terrain to stop the stick.
COL Christopher Landers (sp?), 4/25th Cdr, said in a news conference that the treeline parachutists were 200-400 meters into the woods, and that it could take several months to release the results of an investigation. That doesn't count how far the treeline was from the IP. Anyone do the math how strong the winds would have to be to account for that?
He also said he's seen half a dozen occurrences where this many jumpers (89) landed in trees in his career. Glad I didn't serve in the 25th ID.
