View Full Version : Microsoft Employees as SJW's
I know there is a lot of this, it's just hidden from public view.
Now that prominent political SJW's are openly protesting, we can expect the low-levels will want to be heard
'We did not sign up to develop weapons' say Microsoft employees protesting $479 million HoloLens army contract
By Wes Fenlon 13 hours ago
An open letter to Microsoft executives demands the company "cease developing any and all weapons technologies."
$479,197,708.33—that's how much a US Army contract will pay Microsoft for an "Integrated Visual Augmentation System." The contract was awarded to Microsoft on November 20, and today some of the company's employees have written an open letter to CEO Satya Nadella and president Brad Smith protesting the move and asking the company to "Cease developing any and all weapons technologies."
The letter, titled "HoloLens For Good, Not War," begins with the statement that "we refuse to create technology for warfare and oppression. We are alarmed that Microsoft is working to provide weapons technology to the U.S. Military, helping one country's government 'increase lethality' using tools we build. We did not sign up to develop weapons, and we demand a say in how our work is used."
The letter goes on to say that Microsoft plans to use HoloLens, its augmented reality headset, for this purpose. We actually reported on that back in November, when the contract was awarded. At the time, Smith wrote a blog post defending the company's military partnerships.
That blog apparently didn't satisfy the employees who wrote today's open letter, as they stated "While the company has previously licensed tech to the U.S. Military, it has never crossed the line into weapons development. With this contract, it does. The application of HoloLens within the IVAS system is designed to help people kill. It will be deployed on the battlefield, and works by turning warfare into a simulated 'video game,' further distancing soldiers from the grim stakes of war and the reality of bloodshed." The letter goes on to point out that many engineers worked on HoloLens before the contract existed, and are now seeing their work repurposed for military use.

I’m thinking there should be a question in the hiring and placement process and if you have an issue don’t get hired in the first place.
It reads like the Indian/Bangladesh/Pakistan H1B (correction) visa holders Microsoft (and Google) hire want to have a controlling interest in how their video games are played.
As an addition to what 7624U said, I’d be pretty sure Microsoft has been dropping smart bombs and guiding missiles to their targets from war planes and ships controlled by Microsoft for some time now.
I’d start by pulling the work visas of anyone who’s not a US citizen and lock the access cards of everyone on the letter.
The dividends of H1B visa, immigration and diversity.

IMHO this is another example of the insurgency that is currently underway?? YMMV

I disagree, I believe it's the Millennials butterflies. They believe all before them should bow to their whims, lest they start rioting for their righteous indignations.
Where-as the H1B crowd may be writing the code and giving moral support, they will be protective of their TEMPORARY status and not prone to public displays.
My deeper concerned is that we no longer have Russian nor Chinese insiders, but millions of Millennials, eg Bergdahl, that have no fear of repercussions.
AND elected SJW's that will martyr those that are adjudicated for "the cause".

The deep state is deeper and deeper of course we knew the millennial techies were SJW's I am sure their is a core cadre of SJW's from previous generations who saw the potential before the internet came on lie....I just wonder in this technological age how much damage they are doing....the fact is our best computer experts are outmatched by Microsoft techies. If we could go back in time to when the radicals were starting to infiltrate the education system we could have prevented some of the activist mentality...this is why protecting your children from the direct indoctrination going on is important....Look at the LGBTQ influence in which schools are teaching our children their are more than 2 genders no matter what science say they are doing it they have legislation that allows activists to begin training the child in the ideology as young as they want...a 16 yr old girl or boy can go to one of these sex change surgeons at 16 without the parents consent and permanently change their bodies before they have even reached maturity in their mid 20's...these kids are a few degrees of separation but are in fact actors for socialist states

Diversity is certainly a factor the more diverse the nation is ethnically the easier for Democrats to divide and conquer them through constant saturation and media exploitation of differences never similarities

I can see your point, and you are correct about certain segments of our native born who have little appreciation for what they have, how they find themselves with the freedoms they have and who have self shame for who they are.
However in Microsoft's case they are employing a large number of people from outside the US who do not hold the same values as most of us on here do. For example, some Pakistani's, Saudi's or Afghan's would likely have an issue writing code for weapons that might be used against their people.
In many ways our corporations and politicians are outsourcing our countries security to people and entities that do not like us.

...turning warfare into a simulated 'video game,' further distancing soldiers from the grim stakes of war and the reality of bloodshed. It is the politicians, who dispatch the spear, who've distanced themselves. These self-absorbed little babies should be having conversations with the people they vote for all the time who seem to be so cavalier about such things. So either ruck, or shut, TFU.
Cutting edge job at Microsoft? Heh, I wonder if they comprehend how many there are waiting, rubbing their hands together, for a chance to take their place.

That is so true; when I grew up the world and our views were so different. Today's youth are so oblivious, and ignorant to the realities of the "real world". It's a shame that people today just don't get it.

I worked at MS from 2006 to 2009, though it has changed since then.
I value and respect all the comments above me, and I tend to agree with JJ_BPK the most. Though I understand the concern regarding H1-B employees and their access, most larger companies have offices in India and other places and grant the same level of access in most cases, to those remote staff.
The patriotism we saw after 9/11 is gone. The left's hate for all things conservative and American leads me to wonder where their loyalties lie. When the next conflict comes, whose side will they choose? Will employees at these large monopolies actively work against helping the USA, or will then even help the enemy? Would they use their (our) data and share names/personnel? Would they shut access to our military and intelligence groups? Can our military and intelligence groups survive without MS/Google/etc.? Would the NSA be able to detect it?
I wonder what the millennials and Generation Z would think if Huntsville was attacked. What about Portland or Seattle? Would they view them differently?
I didn't know anyone who died in 9/11, but living in the Boston area at the time, there were a few homes in my town that had makeshift memorials leading me to believe that they were personally affected. Though I was not around in WW2, I am lead to believe that young people at the time rallied around the country and the troops. Today, probably not so much. Just look at how ICE agents are treated.

Just a few days after posting, I find this. I guess we know whose side they are on, but we already knew that.
