They can bitch about the Electoral Collage all they want but I can't see them ever getting the kind of support they would need to abolish it. Those rich old white guys were pretty darn smart when they set it up all those years ago. This is from a simple search of what it would take to get rid of it. A lot of red states would have to go blue and I do not see that happening.

" The electoral college, after all, is enshrined in our Constitution, which means getting rid of it requires a constitutional amendment. That's a two-thirds vote in both the House and the Senate and the ratification of three-fourths (38) of the 50 states.Nov 9, 2016"

I don't see this OR the term limits ever getting traction.

Interesting opinion here.

The idea is to institute "direct democracy" over the current republican form of government, and ultimately, tyranny of the majority. They'd very much like to rub out the votes of all those people who live in red states who voted for Trump, those bothersome places such as Wisconsin, which take so much time and effort to travel to. That way, they can focus solely on coastal blue states and enable their lording it over the red states with no say-so from the latter.

I don't see this OR the term limits ever getting traction. :mad:If they ever got the former they'd have carte blanche to NEVER care about the latter. They're just cackling:

"Small club & you ain't in it; so shut up peasant & get back to work."

Very transparent, all those participation trophies are coming home to roost... They’re completely missing some inconvenient, tragic and costly
steps in between.

I’m reminded of the advertisement where the guy is wearing virtual reality goggles and says” I could be in the NBA”... both funny and tragic.

I doubt even the Dems in those States would think it a good idea.....you lose your say/vote in anything on a Federal level.
California and NY would rule the country and that is why it was designed as it was....a Constitutional Republic where individual States always had a say.....not a Democracy.

If they did that, what would the Dims do with thief “super delegates” which they love?

If they were ever to manage to get this passed it would have the same effect on the country as the election of Lincoln. Our current cold civil war would become white hot overnight as a majority of states would be made irrelevant to the country's governance. These polecats have the IQ of a doorstop and frankly it isn't fair to the doorstop to be compared to them. Just when you think the bad idea fairy could dream up anything dumber.....

From some recent light reading:

I have said that any man who attempted by force or unparliamentary disorder to obstruct or interfere with the lawful count of the electoral vote for President and Vice-President of the United States should be lashed to the muzzle of a twelve-pounder and fired out of a window of the Capitol. I would manure the hills of Arlington with the fragments of his body were he a senator or chief magistrate of my native state!

This statement IMO is one of the underlying problems with the electoral college.

The multiple state-level machinations, mute the essence for the EC.

By playing games with who the delegates are allowed to vote for they have effectively nullified the intent of the EC.

The EC is based on representation by census numbers, so as a state census grows so does they EC votes.

The damage is where states like Kalifornacate twist the rules so someone like Gov Moonbeam can force delegates to "Vote for WHO I want", immaterial of who the population wants.

The other damage is states like Kalifornacate that insist on counting non-citizens for their census, thus inflating the counts for more EC delegates.
