I listened to a podcast this past week with the author of this story. One story he told was that during a hot extract he clipped his swiss seat onto the rope but did't have the time to clip on with the carabiner on the top of his web gear. As they were under fire the pilot took off dragging the team through the trees. After hitting a branch he went inverted. As the pilot climbed to 4,000 feet the harness started to slip down his legs until it got to his knees. At that point he said he spread his legs like a cheap whore to keep it from going further. He was able to signal his teammate who somehow got the pilots attention and they started to descend, but as they did the harness slipped to his feet and his gear started to choke him out. He said his last though before he blacked out was that he was going to die. Lucky for him he was only about 15 feet above ground when he finally passed out and fell. He came to when they were loading him onto the helicopter only to be pissed off that they had stripped his gear and rifle and no one thought to pick it up before taking off. Those guys had some serious brass balls.

Excellent read. "I preferred to go hungry instead of running out of ammo".

I know Meyer well. Just saw him @ SOAR back in October.
