How is it that so many Americans have allowed institutions and norms to be undermined that were the basis for almost all our prior success? And how could this happen after the United States stood decisively with the forces of good — helping the allied powers to win two world wars and then playing the key role in winning the Cold War.
It has happened because revolutionary ideological forces have been subtly at work to transform society from within — slowly and broadly so as to be almost unnoticed. Most assume that winning the Cold War meant we also defeated the Marxist ideology backing the Soviet Union. Yet a closer look at social history in 20th century America shows that strains of neo-Marxism have proliferated and collectively provided the central transformative ideological force shaping American culture over the last several generations and into the present.
Antonio Gramsci was a leading 20th century Marxist theoretician who argued that communists’ route to taking power in developed, industrialized societies such as the United States would be best achieved through a “long march through the institutions.” This would be a gradual process of radicalization of the cultural institutions — “the superstructure” — of bourgeois society, a process that would in turn transform the values and morals of society. Gramsci believed that as society’s morals were softened, its political and economic foundation would be more easily undermined and restructured.
Cultural Marxism was also advanced by intellectuals from the “Frankfurt School,” who were forced to flee Nazi Germany in the mid-1930s. Resettling in the U.S., members of the Frankfurt School, such as Herbert Marcuse, Theodor Adorno, Max Horkeimer, Eric Fromm and Wilhelm Reich, first set up shop at Columbia University, and then later found their way into teaching at various elite universities such as Berkeley, Princeton, Harvard, the New School for Social Research and Brandeis. In the context of American culture, “the long march through the institutions” meant, in the words of Herbert Marcuse, “working against the established institutions while working in them.”
While the Frankfurt School was neo-Marxist, many of its adherents were less interested in economics and redistribution of wealth than in remaking and transforming society through attitudinal and cultural change. They incorporated Marxist class theory into sociology and psychology while also assimilating Freud’s theories on sexuality. Thus, Marx’s theory of the dialectic of perpetual conflict was joined together with Freud’s neurotic ideas, creating a sort of Freudian-Marxism. The amalgam provided a broad-based critique of social problems oriented toward transforming society as a whole — something they called Critical Theory.
While the leaders of the Frankfurt School had limited influence being somewhat ensconced in Berkeley, the New School and Ivy League universities, their Critical Theory ideas were considered avant-garde and received a multiplier effect through other universities and particularly as they were embraced by the teachers’ colleges across the country in the 1950s and 1960s. What was perhaps unique about the cultural Marxists was their “street smarts” recognition that psychological conditioning was more effective than philosophical arguments to achieve the goal of transforming America’s culture.
Essentially the Frankfurt School believed that as long as an individual believed that his reason and common sense could solve the problems facing society, then that society would never reach the state of hopelessness and alienation that they considered necessary to foment socialist revolution. Their task, therefore, was to undermine both the Judeo-Christian legacy and the foundation for rational reasoning by creating a narrative of destructive criticism affecting every sphere and institution of life, resulting in a loss of any absolute truth or meaning. This then would bring on mass hopelessness and de-stabilize society, setting the stage for bringing down what they saw as the ‘oppressive’ order.
The Critical Theory project emphasized and prioritized the demolition of Christianity and the nuclear family. They also sought to exacerbate race relations and promote massive immigration to destroy national identity. Additional focal points in their agenda encouraged dependency on state benefits and the bending of the legal system to favor perpetrators of crime over victims. And lastly, the agenda sought to dumb down the media and undermine schools’ and teachers’ authority.
An important part of the Critical Theory project of total transformation of society was to break down traditional relationships between men and women by promoting and legitimizing unhinged sexual permissiveness with no cultural or religious restraint. Building on the Frankfurt School’s Critical Theory, leaders of what came to be known as Postmodernism advanced the wrecking ball cultural deconstruction project right through the turn of the 21stcentury.
Postmodernists have had no use for tradition or any standards of normalcy, believing that all truth is contrived illusion rather than absolute. Homosexuality and transgenderism are not only valid choices, but even preferable for advancing the destruction of the traditional family and society. They also view the scientific method as being useless, with facts too limiting to determine anything — making truth and error two side of the same coin. Thus Fake News did not arise out of reaction to Donald Trump, but more fundamentally as an extension of Postmodernism. Postmodernists were the first advocates of open borders, which was also an extension of the project to destroy national identity and undermine the democratic electoral process.
What is obviously striking is the degree to which this agenda of breakdown and national transformation promoted by a relatively small constituency of cultural Marxists associated with the Frankfurt School and Postmodernism has been accepted and infused into the leadership and operating procedures of the Democrat Party. Illustrative of this was Democrat Presidential candidate flagbearer Hillary Clinton, wherein she proclaimed to the 2015 Women in the World Summit, not long before she launched her 2016 presidential campaign, that “deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.”
Since the 2016 election, this breakdown has now erupted in a new civil war. On the one side, we have those who have been shaped both overtly and subliminally by cultural Marxist ideology and on the other side we have those who find grounding and purpose in transcendent values—predominantly associated with Judaism and Christianity.

I take heart in knowing that there are a couple of "speed-bumps" that stop a American socialist revolution dead in it's tracks, the 2nd Amendment and the American military.
It is interesting that they have successfully "weaponized" the internet and mass media, that was a stroke of brilliance, mao, hitler and stalin would be proud.

Point well taken - I avoid sticking sharp sticks in my own eye.
My comment was directed more toward the utility of the Internet in bringing information to light and as a tool for research and communication - for all freedom loving peoples.
But, I stand corrected on the two way nature of treatment relating to non-PC speech.
Just happened to search the phrase “cultural Marxism” and experienced a similar result as the author of the article posted below. He goes on to explain how the wiki result is flat out wrong as he explores the history of the phrase in an easily readable and informative manner.
The piece in the OP is also an easy to read refresher commenting on the transformation we see before our very eyes.

Last week I did one of my routine exercises in my Marxism course at Grove City College. In that class, we scour everything on Marx and various strains and offshoots of Marxism. We read all sides — true liberal learning, real diversity, genuine academic pursuit of truth. At this conservative college, we look at all sides, which is what liberal universities claim to do but, under the flag of “diversity” and “tolerance,” frequently shun opposing viewpoints that conflict with leftist orthodoxy. My Marxism course is an interactive class in which we pull up the big computer screen and openly Google terms, ideas, websites, and organizations. We do not shy away, ever, from daily checking Marxists.org, the website of Communist Party USA, The Jacobin, The Militant, you name it. We don’t fear and censor opposing viewpoints. My students will not be left ignorant of what the other side thinks.
Last week, as I do at some point every semester, I Googled the words “cultural Marxism.” I was shocked when the first thing that appeared on the page was this boxed definition:

Whoa. Seriously? After years of looking up “cultural Marxism,” I had not seen that whopper. An “anti-semitic conspiracy theory”? Says who? That’s not a definition; it’s an ad hominem. Actually, it’s a cheap smear. And it’s a smear that countless millions will see daily as their go-to definition for “cultural Marxism.”
It gets worse.
The link then charges: “This conspiracy theory is associated with American religious paleoconservatives such as William S. Lind, Pat Buchanan, and Paul Weyrich; but also holds currency among the alt-right, white nationalist groups, and the neo-reactionary movement.”
Yeah? No kidding? The “neo-reactionary movement”? What’s that?
For years I’ve known about cultural Marxism. My first tutorial on it, and the entirety of the Frankfurt School, came from Herb Romerstein, a friend and mentor to whom I dedicated my book Dupes. Never did Herb say that the charge of cultural Marxism was a slimy anti-Jewish plot. He walked me through the leading lights in the Frankfurt School, and he didn’t single out which ones were Jews
An “anti-semitic conspiracy theory”? That sounds like the very conspiracy-mongering that the anonymous writers are charging as conspiracy-mongering.
This flatly isn’t right. It’s wrong. And it’s a shame. It’s a nasty charge that’s clearly having a pernicious influence. As a case in point, a testimony comes from the UK, where a conservative supporter of Brexit has been accused of peddling the “anti-Semitic trope of ‘Cultural Marxism’.” That’s an actual headline.
The two reporters who wrote that story, slinging that accusation at this unfortunate British conservative, almost certainly Googled a term they knew little to nothing about and landed at the first thing that glared from their screen. The intellectual laziness led to intellectual nastiness — cruelty even, as this is a vicious charge to make against someone, especially if those leveling it really don’t have a good idea of the history of the term.
And yet, in fairness to those two reporters, “cultural Marxism” is unquestionably hard to pin down. It would be nice if everyone could be, well, nice, as we all suffer the ideological folly of the men who devised the inane theories and perverse schools of thought which, for better or worse, have come to be known as “cultural Marxism.” Take it from someone who reads this poison for living. These ideas are not merely confusing, vague, but often incoherent, incomprehensible, rambling, meandering, and, first and foremost, utterly idiotic and completely destructive to mind and soul. When I slog through it, I think not of “trope” but “tripe.” It’s awful junk.
Here are some rudimentary facts:
First off, you will not find a foundational book from, say, the 1930s, called The Cultural Marxism Manifesto. Maybe the best we can say is that cultural Marxism, for lack of a better term, is essentially, and very simply, Marxism applied to cultural goals. To repeat: Marxism applied to cultural goals. This is distinguished from the classical Marxism applied to economics or class goals. It is Marxist theory affixed to culture, and thus referred to commonly and understandably as “cultural Marxism.”
Who first coined the term? It’s hard to say, just as it’s hard to say who first coined the term “communism.” Marx and Engels wrote the Communist Manifesto in 1848, but they didn’t coin the term communism. No one really knows, for sure.
And the fact is, there are many Marxists today working far more aggressively on the cultural front than the economic front. They are, in effect, cultural Marxists. And no doubt, 99% of them are not Jews. To criticize them and their cultural Marxism would not, by any stretch, be an exercise in anti-Semitism.
Who were some of the early Marxists who applied Marx to culture?
Pivotal was Antonio Gramsci, an Italian, a pioneer of applying Marxist theory to cultural objectives. He was not a Jew, not German, and not a member of the Frankfurt School.
That said, the Frankfurt School was the leading literal “institute” that applied Marxist theory to cultural objectives.
The two leaders of the Frankfurt School were Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer, who wrote major works on what they called the “culture industry.” This is so well-known that the very same Wikipedia has an entry for “Culture Industry,” a term it rightly credits to its founders, “the critical theorists Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer,” as Wikipedia says in the first line of the entry, and to the wider Frankfurt School, as it lays out. Adorno and Horkheimer had a chapter called “The Culture Industry” in their book, Dialectic of Enlightenment. (Sounds a little cultural and a little Marxist, eh?)
Two of the most influential members of the Frankfurt School who applied Marxism to culture (and to other areas) were Herbert Marcuse and Erich Fromm. They were not only cultural Marxists but Freudian Marxists. One might also call Marcuse a sexual Marxist. He was the guru to the 1960s New Left on American college campuses.
An undisputed sexual Marxist who applied sex and Freud and Marx to culture was Wilhelm Reich, who coined the term and wrote the book, The Sexual Revolution. He’s linked to the Frankfurt School, though he was much earlier. He was such a sexual freak, with very disturbing thoughts on the genital stimulation of children (among other things), that the Bolsheviks rejected him.
Georg Lukacs, a Hungarian, a Bolshevik, and a major early influence on the founders of the Frankfurt School, also applied Marxist theory to culture. He was Deputy Commissar for Culture and Education in Bela Kun’s Hungarian Soviet Republic. To repeat: culture and education. Theodor Adorno adored Georg Lukacs.
Most of the guys in the Frankfurt School were Freudians as well as Marxists. Some, like Fromm especially, sought to devise a field of Freudian-Marxism that was anchored in psychoanalysis.
So, cultural Marxists, sexual Marxists. Yes.
Today, in the 21stcentury, much of the more culturally inclined Marxism flies under the banner of what is known throughout the academy as “critical theory.” There are entire academic departments at universities dedicated to critical theory. Tellingly, most of these academic proponents of Marxism are not econ or Poli Sci professors, or historians, all of which know better, but faculty from English departments.
Today, there are even gender Marxists in the academy. There are self-described “queer theorists” and academicians engaged in “intersectionality” who are Marxists focused on cultural work.
This is widely known.
But above all, these Marxists are and were about culture. Culture, culture, culture.

Precisely. Whoever posted that one nailed it. Hooray for accuracy! Note the words “culture” and “Frankfurt School.” Again, cultural Marxists — or, if you don’t like that, Marxists in culture.
As I noted in a piece here last year, People’s World, the successor to the Daily Worker, in the “About” section of its website, calls out and rallies what it calls “cultural workers” for the Marxist cause. These are Marxists operating on the cultural front. They are cultural Marxists.
This ain’t rocket science, boys and girls. And it ain’t anti-Semitism either.
Go back to that original Google box defining cultural Marxism as anti-Semitic conspiracy theory. Ironically, if you click the provided link to the Frankfurt School reference at Wikipedia, it indeed explains: “The works of the Frankfurt School are understood in the context of the intellectual and practical objectives of critical theory…. In the praxis of cultural hegemony, the dominant ideology is a ruling-class narrative story, which explains that what is occurring in society is the norm.”
Again, note the words “cultural” and “Frankfurt School.”
There, it links (correctly) to Antonio Gramsci, the non-German, non-Jew, Italian. In fact, the Wikipedia page on Gramsci is pretty good, and includes 32 references to “culture” or “cultural.” The third paragraph of the Gramsci entry states:
Gramsci is best known for his theory of cultural hegemony, which describes how the state and ruling capitalist class — the bourgeoisie — use cultural institutions to maintain power in capitalist societies. The bourgeoisie, in Gramsci’s view, develops a hegemonic culture using ideology rather than violence, economic force, or coercion. Hegemonic culture propagates its own values and norms so that they become the “common sense” values of all and thus maintain the status quo. Hegemonic power is therefore used to maintain consent to the capitalist order, rather than coercive power using force to maintain order. This cultural hegemony is produced and reproduced by the dominant class through the institutions that form the superstructure.
That’s correct. And there, at the page on Gramsci, are (rightly) no references to “conspiracy.” Apparently, that’s because certain different anonymous contributors (better informed) contributed to the Gramsci page — obviously not the same ignorant individuals who generated the shameless little box on cultural Marxism; that is, the nasty name-callers alleging anti-Semitism.
For the record, where does the charge of anti-Semitism come from? It, too, comes from laziness, nastiness, or a lack of charity and desire to smear opponents rather than get at the truth. The Wikipedia entry quotes (accurately or inaccurately) one of the individuals it accuses of anti-Semitism stating that all the members of the Frankfurt School were Jews (“to a man, Jewish”). I cannot vouch for that. I’ve never endeavored to tabulate a scorecard of Jews in the Frankfurt School. I have no desire. I don’t do that. Don’t ask me. Do your owned damned scorecard.
It’s crucial to understand, however, that those who write on the Frankfurt School, including its staunch advocates, always note that many to most of the members were Jewish. You can’t read a history that doesn’t note this. Why is that? For this reason: Any historian offering even a brief narrative account of the Frankfurt School, including the salient fact of its sudden mass migration to the United States, unavoidably notes that most members were Jews because it’s a crucial explanatory factor in their move to America — namely, they relocated because of Hitler’s madness. As Jews, they would be targeted by Hitler for genocide. That’s why they moved.
Truth be told, the only sympathy I’ve ever had for the Frankfurt School is that the poor guys could have been murdered by the Nazis. It’s my only soft spot for them. Otherwise, their writings are nonsense, useless, fruitless.
But again, historians writing histories of the school can’t avoid this fact. To cite just one example of numerous that could be referenced, probably the top academic work on the Frankfurt School (aside from Martin Jay’s research) is Rolf Wiggershaus’s The Frankfurt School, published in 1994 by MIT Press. It’s a seminal scholarly work, nearly 800 pages in length, with translations of German writings that no other scholar in English has published. This is a fully sympathetic tome. My sense is that Wiggershaus likely aligns ideologically with — and is at least favorable to — the school. He writes in his opening pages: “The first generation of the Frankfurt School consisted wholly of Jews.”
Wiggershaus certainly didn’t mean that as a negative. He proceeded to further note how they were persecuted as Jews. Heck, Wiggershaus might even be Jewish himself. (I don’t know, I haven’t checked.)
Again, it’s part of the history.
The first time I wrote about the Frankfurt School in a book, my editor added this query amid the editing process: “Paul, why in the world did they all suddenly leave Germany to come to the United States?” My editor wanted to know if this was some sort of Comintern-inspired conspiracy or the work of a communist cabal at Columbia University. No, no, I explained. The answer was because they were Jews fleeing Hitler. My editor answered: “Oh! You need to include that!”
Of course. And historians of the Frankfurt School need the freedom to include that key fact without nameless hacks vilifying them online as anti-Semites for doing so.
Even then, assume for a moment, for the sake of argument, that the vast majority of cultural Marxists in the Frankfurt School were Jewish, as its historians have asserted. Well, the vast majority of cultural Marxists today — writing at People’s World, joining the International Gramsci Society, penning tracts on “queer theory” — are certainly not Jews. Today’s cultural Marxism isn’t a Jewish thing. That’s stupid.
Now, all of that said, could certain agitators on the “alt-right” exploit the fact that so many Frankfurters were Jews to try to create an “anti-Semitic trope” of the Frankfurt School? Of course, they could. That needs to be condemned and countered. But simply noting that many were Jewish, or, more important, simply noting that today there’s such a thing as a cultural form of Marxism, should absolutely not be permitted to be labeled an “anti-Semitic trope.”
Ironically, these faceless online contributors also threaten leftist academic allies. When I last week checked the website for Occidental College’s Department of Critical Theory and Social Justice, which, for years, boasted about instructing its pupils in “Marxism, psychoanalysis, the Frankfurt School,” there was no longer any mention of Marxism, nor certainly cultural Marxism. Those leftists at Occidental must have yanked the language, no doubt fearful of being accused of anti-Semitism.
Above all, this is as much a lesson in the power of an enormously influential source like Wikipedia (and the Internet generally) to be abused and to spread bad information that ends up hurting people. Unfortunately, millions if not billions rely on Wikipedia, and what you thus have online is, ironically, the creation of a conspiracy theory about the “conspiracy theory” of cultural Marxism.
Again, if some are guilty of creating a fake conspiracy of a very real ideology or literal theory, then we should condemn that. That does not, however, mean that, say, critical theory, or the application of Marxism to culture, à la cultural Marxism, doesn’t exist.
Alas, let’s also be on guard for those who want to create a conspiracy theory out of term that, properly applied, isn’t a conspiracy theory.

This paragraph rings true for my boys in public schools:

Honors English has been Critical Race Theory at every step. Everything is about telling the students how Christian white American MEN have made the world an evil place.
The high school teacher also is an elected municipal politician in another community. Far left wing in all of her posts and communications as a politician, she brings that into the classroom. In discussions with other parents, this is happening in every English class in the district, at middle and high school levels.

We have arrived where we are at - in the cultural wars - due in part to quiet indoctrination. While we have been very busy earning a living - some very strange ideas about “57 genders” and a whole host of other unusual ideas have been floated as mainstream.

Teaching the value of free thought matters now more than ever. Unfortunately, most American public schools take the opposite approach.
Many people have long suspected that governments sometimes attempt to indoctrinate their people to increase the government’s own power and influence. Unfortunately, ambitious governments will not stop at merely controlling what their people can do; they must control their minds.
Indoctrination happens through many channels—entertainment, speeches, and censorship––but its main instrument is the school system. Teachers have a captive audience of malleable young minds for several years. They may not have figured out how to make students smart and productive, but they can at least make them submissive and obedient.
Judging by results and from most people’s experience, indoctrination is not only a problem with rogue regimes, but also a distinctly American problem. However, here it is difficult to determine the extent of indoctrination, how it works, or even if it does work.
Most Americans might receive a mediocre education, but this education may be so mediocre that the intended brainwashing might not even be effective. True, some will feel the Bern and join the Socialist Party, and others will become feminists and beat up women who protest abortion. A precious few may even become conservatives. Most, though, seem content to remain disengaged from politics, religion, and most ideas in general, and allow the mainstream media to think for them.
Far from resembling a unified collective, society has become more polarized and tribal. Some might see this as evidence of the failure of indoctrination, and the insuppressible human desire for freedom and justice, but they are mistaken. Indoctrination does work, and it is one the main reasons America is so divided.
What Is Indoctrination?
Few people seem to have a clear definition of indoctrination, and thus call anything they dislike indoctrination (e.g., “Leftists professors are indoctrinating their students,” “Those fundamentalist Christians are indoctrinating their kids,” or “Facebook is indoctrinating its users.”).
While indoctrination involves pushing a certain opinion, it is also much more. It is the comprehensive effort of passively disseminating a particular viewpoint. The passive aspect is key. People who are indoctrinated with a certain narrative or ideology do not arrive at the intended conclusions through their own thinking, but hear the same thing repeated in a million different ways until they finally take it as unquestionable truth.
Because indoctrination happens in the absence of thinking, many teachers who engage in indoctrination do so unconsciously. They themselves take what they’re given and pass it along without thinking. Ideologues often intervene at this level by writing the scripts for teachers, which is how LGBT advocacy and anti-Semitic fabrications become included in their lessons.
Thoughtlessness is essential. As the fictional demon Screwtape, from C.S. Lewis’s “The Screwtape Letters,” states in his letters to Wormwood, “It is funny how mortals always picture us as putting things into their minds: in reality our best work is done by keeping things out.” A person who really thinks will eventually reason himself out of the things he heard at school.
In some ways this could be good––he could reason his way out of utopian thinking that contradicts reality. It could also be bad––he could reason his way out of superstitious beliefs, but not have the wherewithal to take the next step of adopting reasonable beliefs.
For this reason, it is often fruitless for Republican politicians to insist on incorporating more conservative viewpoints, or for conservative intellectuals to decry bias in U.S. history classes, or for classical schools to replace Maya Angelou with Tacitus. If students are still receiving the material passively, a switch of content will not help, and, in the case of introducing classic literature, it will usually backfire. English teachers have soured multiple generations of Americans on Shakespeare because they taught it as propaganda, not as dense texts requiring complex thought.
Indoctrination In Common Core
Even changing curriculum will not prevent indoctrination. Curriculum should help guide the teacher to create lessons and use materials that will train the students to think and function independently. Instead, most public school curricula, either adopting the Common Core standards or imitating them, do the opposite.
Common Core has facilitated progressive indoctrination by smothering independent thought and stifling intellectual development. It effectively trains students not to think by emphasizing skills over content, process over product, and relative standards over absolute ones.
The humanities suffer the most from the focus on teaching supposedly practical skills rather than quality content. Instead of reading great poetry and literature, English teachers asked their students to read more journalistic nonfiction and develop research skills. Instead of reading for meaning and writing clearly, students read for bias and learn to write fluff.
History teachers now teach their students “history skills,” which involve everything except remembering actual history and synthesizing information. Consequently, both literary and historical content is drained of relevance or meaning. While students learn to process data, they do not think about anything in particular.
Math and science are hurt more by Common Core’s obsession with the process over the product. Reaching the right answer means little in Common Core math. It is more important that students learn various arbitrary methods through which they can arrive at an answer. Students receive more credit for following a needlessly complicated breakdown, complete with color-coding and an array of abstract terms, for relatively simple computation. Word problems also loom large, causing teachers to spend less time on their subject and more time teaching students to highlight the right terms.
Needless to say, some students can make their way through the Common Core curriculum without knowing much math or science at all. Common Core proponents will say that this teaches students “metacognition”––thinking about thinking––and pushes students to learn how to learn. In reality, kids stop thinking, since it’s all pointless.
These two problems come together to bring about a pervasive relativism in education. Content is interchangeable and mastery is either illusory or impossible. Knowledge becomes subjective. One text is as good as another. One period of history is as important as another. One theory or formula is as useful as another. It is hard to learn how to think when there is nothing real to think about.
In such a system, thinking is only the articulation of opinion; it has no bearing on truth. This means that people don’t really need to think critically and understand why they believe what they do. They just need to have the right viewpoint and force others to conform like they’ve been forced to conform. They engage in arguments where the loudest voice wins because no one’s points are better than another. They pressure instead of persuade.
This, in turn, leads to tribalism—groups of people united in feeling and opinion, but not in reason and truth. The lack of thought makes all these groups vulnerable to mass media and prevents any organized resistance to an encroaching state or lawless ideologue in power. Indoctrination is complete when perception (i.e., whatever is on the screen, whatever an “expert” says, whatever is popular) really does become reality for most people because they’re too stupid or apathetic to respond rationally.
Good Teaching Is The Cure For Indoctrination
The only real solution to indoctrination, then, is good teachers. Good teachers (which include parents, mentors, and other knowledgeable adults) train students in methods of thought while supplying the stuff of thought. They teach a person to evaluate an argument properly, find actual solutions to problems, and determine what is true and what is false.
More importantly, they don’t succumb to promoting one ideology over another because they trust their student to reason through to the right position. This was St. Augustine’s argument in “On Christian Doctrine” (back when indoctrination meant teaching, not brainwashing), in which he recommended the inclusion of pagan learning in Christian education, trusting in the rational faith of the Christian scholar to handle it properly.
Only clear thought will be the death of foggy indoctrination. If people want to pass on their ideas on to the next generation, they should focus on building up logic, not just giving them the right texts to read and TV shows to watch. The goal should be to understand the reasons, not follow the signals of the right tribe.
At some point, indoctrination will always collapse on itself and leave mediocrity in it wake. Teaching, by contrast, is what will sustain our culture and bring out its virtues. It fosters the presence of active thought––not uniform thought––and it is what will ultimately mend and civilize our sorely divided country.

I'm raising a teenage boy with ADHD who began primary school outside Tacoma WA., (Fife to be exact because it was supposed to be a good school on that real estate guide.) Kindergarten and the 1st grade didn't seem too far off normal but by the time he was entering 2nd and 3rd grades I could see more clearly why he was being used as a special needs child (government funding) and I could also see where common core education was problematic not just for him but for myself to understand what they were doing. Homework was hard just to understand why he had to do simple math three different ways to solve a simple problem. I was constantly being called to the school for one thing or another and got to know everyone in his "scholastic" environment. His 2nd grade teacher ruined him from the second of week of school and I regret not taking him out of that school immediately. But he persisted to say he was happy there and had friendships he wanted to keep and so we all tried to accommodate him. [I never had that in my life, never went to the same school year to year and sometimes only spent months here or there, so I wanted him to have that stability.] That summer the teacher retired and the principle and asst. principle were both fired (let go by the district for academic failures - duh.) The 3rd and 4th grades were better but the damage was done, my son was always playing catch up and struggled with common core lesson plans although he seems very bright and smart. The doctors said he had ADHD and we tried medicine with bad results and little improvement. It was hell...but we persisted and worked closely with counselors and special education teachers that he had on top of his regular teachers throughout the day.
Why am I telling you this...
I took a new job location in Texas, North Houston area and we moved three years ago...he began the 5th Grade from scratch one the first day of a new school year and although lots of information had to be entered on school admittance forms we told them he had been diagnosed with ADHD and ODD but medications only made matters worse and we would not be doing that...that he had been in special needs classes and that they were not going to find his prior school records very welcoming. The school said not a problem we have lots of kids like that - they are boys!
Immediately he felt more at home, the lesson plans were more direct and more challenging too. The teachers were teaching and not preaching the common core crap but more importantly he would come home and tell me, "Dad, this school doesn't talk about homosexuality, transgenderism, racism and religious intolerance, like they did in Washington." My jaw about hit the floor! I suspected it was happening but none of that ever came home, it was all small incremental classes thrown into the curricula in Washington schools from about the beginning in Kindergarten...words from teachers that "It's okay to be different that somethings aren't what they seem. Everyone is special!" Well, bullsh!t, at age five...boys are boys and girls are girls and the pictures on the bathroom door should be an indication that you are one or the other and no confusion should exist. [Now I know why Ellen Page is Elliot Page except that Elliot will probably not be happy with a vagina. But I digress...]
Anyway, my son, he's an 8th grader now, he's doing okay even though it has been a tough act to follow and he's in AFJROTC and excelling there. He's got a really good head on his shoulders and I've been successful at all the important things in his life so far, he knows who he is and what he's not. He knows right from wrong and more importantly lately he knows right from Left.
They don't teach common core in Texas grade school or at least the one he goes to. Can't speak for Houston ISD, I think they are socialist!

Former FBI Director James Comey to teach at Columbia Law School

Columbia Law School announced that former FBI Director James Comey will begin teaching at the school in January.
“Comey’s experience represents a broadening of the Mark Initiative’s focus to include leadership of major public institutions, complementing existing offerings relating to corporations and law firms,” the school said in a statement. “In addition to his government work, Comey led the in-house legal teams at major corporations, including Lockheed Martin Corp. and Bridgewater Associates, and previously held a senior research appointment with Columbia Law School’s National Security Law Program.”
Comey took to Twitter on Tuesday to celebrate the announcement, saying he was very “excited to return to teach at Columbia in the new year.”
Comey will be a distinguished fellow of the Reuben Mark Initiative for Organizational Character and Leadership. He will also lead a new seminar entitled “Lawyers and Leaders.”
President Trump fired Comey as director of the FBI in May 2017 after a tumultuous few years leading the agency. Trump cited Comey’s handling of the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server as the reason for his dismissal, especially after he held a press conference laying out the evidence against Clinton in July 2016 but took the unusual step of recommending no charges against the former secretary of state.
Since being fired, Comey has been a vocal critic of Trump’s presidency. His book, Saving Justice: Truth, Transparency, and Trust, will be released on Jan. 12.

Something went wrong with the rapidly expanding university in the 1960s, and the new 21st century, high-tech, globalized campus has made the mess it inherited dangerous.

Where did Antifa youth rioting in the streets receive their intellectual and ethical bearings? Why are the First and Second Amendments no longer fully operative? How did the general population become nearly ignorant of their Constitution, history, and the hallmarks of their culture? Why do employers no longer equate a bachelor’s degree with competency in oral and written communications, basic computation, and reasoning? How in the 21st century did race and ethnicity come to define who we are rather than become incidental to our individual personas? In answering all these questions, we always seem to return to higher education—the font of much of our contemporary malaise.
The Perfect Storm
A perfect storm of events—many of them reforms with unintended consequences—have conspired to end disinterested education as we once knew it.
The passage of the 26th Amendment in 1971, lowering the voting age to 18—in response to widespread resistance to the draft and the Vietnam War—turned rhetorical campus activism into real progressive block voting. The campuses were no longer just free-speech zones, but woke reservoirs of millions of young voters, a new political and mostly subsidized constituency with clout, to which universities catered.
Globalization enriched the coasts. Seven-billion-person markets were translated into multibillion-dollar endowments of a magnitude never imagined. The Ivy League, MIT, Caltech, Stanford, the UC system, and dozens of other research universities between Boston and Miami, and San Diego and Seattle, partnered with corporations and solicited foreign government money. They opened up overseas satellites, welcomed in hundreds of thousands of foreign students, and began adjusting their curricula to reflect transnational issues.
So university “development” was no longer the sleepy domain of burned-out faculty, who “went into administration” for a few years before retirement to glad-hand a few wealthy alumni. Instead, it became a massive industry of tapping into the huge global fortunes of Silicon Valley, Wall Street, vertically integrated corporations, and mostly illiberal petro-governments in the Middle East and Chinese-communist approved conglomerates.
Floods of cash created new “centers” and “institutes” on campus. The vast majority were boutique left-wing. The disconnected result was often bizarre: students living in upscale campus dorms, enjoying Club Med gyms and recreation centers, and replete with all sorts of influential internships and overseas enrichment—as they cosplayed Marxist activists.
The legions who staffed the new universities were upper-middle class, affluent and the beneficiaries of the privilege which they trashed from 8-5 before returning home to comfort. Few tenured grandees cared about growing percentages of exploited and part-time lecturers, the campus’ version of the interior deplorables, who taught large courses for little pay and no security. It was about 2008 when I began to notice two growing phenomena when I walked to work on the Stanford campus: in the C/student lots, there was a growing epidemic of student Lexuses, Audis, and BMWs, even as student protests were growing shriller, more radical, and intolerant.
Massive immigration—nearly 50 million current American residents were not born in the United States, including 27 percent of the California resident population—redefined the old 88-12 percent white/black American binary into “diversity.” The melting pot of assimilation, in retrograde fashion, was replaced by salad-bowl segregation.
Class and historical issues faded in the face of a new dogma of “white supremacy.” That now empty banality was the banner for a new constituency of 30 percent of the country. Regardless of their own wealth or absence of past grievance, dozens of ethnic and gender groups now were “victimized” on their claims of a non-white or non-male appearance. And they demanded reparatory redress in admissions and applications, and institutionalized their lamentations in the hiring of faculty and administrators.
Wealthy white females, upper-middle class immigrants from Brazil, and the children of Jamaican or Nigerian doctors, all in theory felt the university should provide them some sort of redress for their intersectional, inclusive victimhood. In the zero-sum game of university curricula, deductive “-studies” courses sprung up to indoctrinate students in “what” to think, rather than inductively how and why. Therapy replaced tragedy in the study of the past and present.
Federal loans (see below) infused billions of dollars into the university, while ensuring ever greater moral hazards of default. Students came to believe that student loans were near-zero interest, “free” money. The loans might not really have to be paid back. And they were a pathway to an impressive salary even if some day they were to be called in.
Many loans easily exceed 5-6 percent of compounded interest. Such guaranteed income greenlighted university price-gouging, and were not forgiven (at least not yet). To justify the illiberal usury and Ponzi schemes, progressive universities winked and nodded that in “our globalized world” a “degree”—i.e., their monopoly on branding students—from a “good” college ensured lifetime higher salaries unavailable to “them,” who worked with their hands, built, assembled, farmed, or delivered. These were to be the new despised “losers” who never were properly prepped in “diversity, inclusion, and equity.”
The Wages of Debt
The result is that students and graduates now struggle under $1.6 trillion in aggregate—and growing—student debt. These millions for the most part are not for Ivy League undergraduates, but for students who ran up their debts at thousands of public universities and small, private undergraduate liberal arts colleges. Current calls to cancel that obligation assume at least three things:
1) Graduates who scrimped and saved either to pay upfront for college or to pay off their debts, are seen as naïve if not delusional. So did paying what they owed prove a chump’s decision?
2) Those who either could never afford college or chose to take their chances in the workplace without a degree, as taxpayers, are now obliged to help pay off what their supposedly better educated counterparts would or could not?
3) The next cohort of students, hand-in-glove with rapacious colleges, will learn what exactly from debt relief—that they too can borrow without worry on the expectation of yet another eventual amnesty?
In fairness, for hundreds of thousands of youth, there is no university assurance that such expensive branding will lead to the sort of job that would allow such staggering obligations to be repaid. Indeed the debt affects us all. It is a drag on half of an entire generation—a fact well known to those who run universities but one that is apparently of little moral concern to them. The ancient formula of four years at a university and a job have metamorphosed into six to eight years now and then in college, as a low-wage job scarcely pays the interest on a student loan.
The result is that our traditional cursus honorum is warped. Marriage? Later than ever. Childbearing? Near record-low fertility. Home ownership? Receding. It is no exaggeration that all the referents of traditionalism and conservatism—the grown-up responsibilities of career, marriage, family, and home ownership—are inert. They seem replaced by ever more prolonged adolescence, as one drifts in and out of near perennial psychological student-hood. And the regression is a particularly dangerous sort of infantilization.

Nothing historically has proven more dangerous to a society than millions of half-educated college students and graduates, indebted, either idle, underemployed, or poorly remunerated, full of pride in their largely suspect majors, and bitter that the supposedly less educated and not as sophisticated cohorts are deservedly making more than they. Their educations ensured that they are glib, but not necessarily industrious. An unemployed sociology graduate, up to his neck in debt, without a good job is a volatile citizen—once he grasps too late in his late 20s that he is no better educated than a plumber or electrician, and far less compensated. Mutatis mutandis, these profiles were the wannabe mid-echelon of the French and Bolshevik Revolutions.
The country is split in two. Red-state conservatives and blue-state progressives roughly balance each other. Not so on campus. Various surveys suggest 95 percent or more of the faculty is left-leaning and often eager to enforce their conformity of thought and ideology on students. The latter enter college worried that their parents’ views may be seen as liabilities by those “enlightened” who grade them. The university makes no attempt to defend its lack of intellectual diversity. By default, one is to assume that it believes that either perfect progressivism needs no balance, or its own biases are properly offset by those of society at large.
Corporate Education
Today’s global research universities are multibillion-dollar enterprises more akin to multinational corporations than to the idyllic undergraduate campuses of traditional lore. Yet huge endowments and their income remain tax-exempt. Few occupations outside academia ensure veritable lifetime employment through tenure—a rarified tradition designed to ensure free expression and diversity of thought, but which may have had the exact opposite effect of guaranteeing unchecked intellectual intolerance and suppression of free expression. The less a tenured scholar produces, and the poorer his teaching will be, so the more likely his idle mind, as recompense for mediocrity, turns to rooting out purporting enemies of the people.
But most importantly, universities no longer inform students of the huge and often dangerous choices they make as teenagers when they enroll. How will they pay off such huge debts? Which majors are likely to earn what sort of income? Can students at least receive an itemized bill of charges to apprise them where exactly their tuition dollars are allocated—and thus where they could be trimmed?
In sum, if universities are increasingly akin to corporations, why then should they assume that the moral hazards of their risky behavior fall on others? Why cannot schools with ample endowments guarantee their own student loans to ensure such exposure reminds them to control the costs they charge students?
If student applicants must submit standardized scores on the theory their prior high schools’ grades are too idiosyncratic to offer reliable constant standards of achievement, then why should not higher education adhere to its own rules?
Why, then, not have exit exams to guarantee employees and professional schools that a BA or GPA from Harvard really is superior to one from a land-grant college, through a standardized national exit exam? Why are GPAs in high schools—but not in colleges—subject to authentication and audit through standardized tests?
Today what is college for?
To teach induction and empiricism, and empower such skills through a common body of knowledge, with shared classical referents of science, mathematics, literature, history, language, and philosophy? To ensure that a student’s future stays inquisitive, enhancing his contribution to his nation? To inculcate a sense of civics and social morality that emphasizes the values of free speech and expression, individualism, tolerance, public service and constitutional government? To seek and reinforce commonalities between citizens of a shared republic?
Progressive Boot Camps
The implicit directive of undergraduate education is so often deductively to enhance progressive values that center on a common but unquestioned core: radical restructuring of the economy to fight “climate change,” the shift from free-market capitalism to state redistributionism, equality defined not as parity in opportunity but in result, the view that the Constitution is fossilized and an impediment to the moral arc of history, the surety that values are mostly race, class, and gender constructs and do not reflect eternal truths of unchanging human nature, identity politics above all, abortion on demand, and real doubt that the American project, now and in the past, has been a force for good.
This is the unquestioned creed of the university, its faculty advocacies, its students’ acquiescence, and the subtext of its themes in internal communiques. If anyone doubts, try the thought experiment of entering a university and throughout those four years suggesting that a heating planet may be primarily a result of age-old and cyclical natural phenomena, or that capitalism has brought far more out of poverty than statism, or praise the Second Amendment, or the melting pot over the salad bowl. Support a ban on partial or late-term abortion, and express faith that America has been good without having to be perfect. At each juncture, a student would not only be questioned but likely would find himself at a disadvantage academically and socially ostracized.
Something went wrong with the rapidly expanding university in the 1960s during the affluence and leisure of the postwar boom. And the new 21st century, high-tech, globalized campus has now made that mess it inherited dangerous.

When I was growing up I was friends with a kid named Booth - great kid - came from a good family - we were like peas and carrots... we went everywhere together.
Box and Booth - we were raised as red-blooded American patriots - but we both had cousins that weren't worth a fuck...

Recently my second cousin Mail fell in with a bad crowd too. Mail Box hooked up with Voting Booth and Ballot Box last month and the three of them caused a shit show of epic proportions.

Most of the Booths and the Boxes are still tight except for those three deceptive untrustworthy pricks Mail, Voting, and Ballot can all suck my ass. They talk a big game but neither of them can do shit on their own. They just sit there motionless - they take take take take take - but they don't actually "do" anything. It took our families a long time to realize that Voting and Ballot were useless if the family didn't demand action. We learned a long time ago that we can't just depend on Voting Booth and Ballot Box to get things done.
It's amazing how many people still pretend that those two motherfuckers are the ones that do all the work.

Back in the early 90’s I worked for a landscaping company during Summers to put myself thru an affordable state university.
On small jobs, we worked mostly as a small core crew.
On bigger jobs, it was my first exposure to Mexican day labourers, working side by side doing the same backbreaking work.
It turned out that was the period of time when such work was rapidly transitioning to the underground illegal labour economy.
It’s such a strange dynamic.
Those who support underground illegal labour wouldn’t be caught dead eating lunch daily with them, let alone working hard alongside them, they’re only happy to exploit them.
While those who oppose underground illegal labour, many of whom have direct experience working alongside(CONUS/OCONUS) folks who aren’t yet legal residents of the US, but have proven they deserve it more than many born in the US.
It’s an equally strange dynamic to see in 1-2 generations the idea of part-time jobs for teenagers has been largely made extinct.
Extinction stemming from excess competition for jobs by underemployed and under skilled adults and illegals, designed for after-school and weekend part-time work for teenagers.
And the unnecessarily excessive competitiveness amongst top tier university admission.
It’s much, much harder for normal folks to get into top tier schools than 25, 50, 100 years ago.
I got into 2 schools that are consistently top 5 globally, I wouldn’t want to bet on my chances of getting in again.
But I wouldn’t want to even try, because the return on investment has peaked and is in steep decline, even with top tier schools.
My kids have an OK chance at being accepted into top tier schools(not because of legacy), but even they recognise that they may be better off working their butts off to get accepted, posting the acceptance letter on LinkedIn, applying for internships, and asking for their school tuition savings in cash as a down payment for a house.
They’re probably not wrong.
I sometimes wonder what ever happened to those Mexican guys I worked alongside on those hot Summer days, they were good hard working guys.
They were better people than the hypocrites I sat next to class in those top tier schools.

I definitely agree in principle, but push back on admission standards(although that can be quite subjective depending on school).
Here’s an example:
50 years ago, Stanford accepted 31% of applicants
When I attended Stanford(GSB) it was approx 9-10% of applicants admitted.
Today, Stanford accepted 3.35% of applicants, an order of magnitude harder than just half a lifetime ago.
The exact same applies across the Ivy League and other top tier schools as these school brands have shaped public perception to act as self-appointed gatekeepers in determining future success.
The good news is that while a few extreme outlier entrepreneurial successes do correlate with schools like Stanford, the majority of entrepreneurial successes correlate with hands on skillset and mindset.
Which is why outfits like Lambda School teach coding and software engineering like a hands-on trade accessible to nearly everyone, rather than requiring a degree and debt.
I look forward to a higher education reboot, where indoctrination is replaced by practical education, and elitism is replaced by accessibility.

I am a christian and a pastor, so will post on the basis of scripture. But the proof is in how things are going. It isn't going to get better, it will only get worse, that is a scriptural principle, but there is certainly proof in our society. People have said, we need better education, but that certainly isn't working, because it is our education system that is teaching that which isn't moral. All we have to do is look back even 20 years, when 9/11 happened, and we came together as a nation, to how disjointed things are now, and how little unity there is now. Whether you are a believer in the Bible or not, the proof on how bad things are is simply to look at what is going on.
I have lived more than 40 years in third world countries, where corruption is rampant, and I used to take pride in the fact that the USA followed law. Well, we are equal to those countries, where elections are stolen, where bribes pay the way, and where the entitled get theirs. There is no hope, in the Biblical view, outside of God.
our nation's leaders are doing their best to ensure that we are the leading nation in the third world
...and sadly, they are doing it because that is what we the people have paid them to do

That he suffered and bled on the cross for our sins, died, and rose alive after three days, defeating death, that who would turn back to God and believe in Jesus would have everlasting life.

The Social Tyranny that Threatens Thoughtful Americans

One of the earliest lessons we learned in school was likely to include the spirited explanation of Patrick Henry's "give me liberty or give me death" speech to move colonists to declare independence from the British Kingdom in 1775. By high school, some may have dug deeper into the roots of the American Revolution by reading or hearing some excerpts from Thomas Paine's famous pamphlet Common Sense. Most social science majors, and certainly political science majors, in college likely worked through John Stewart Mill's On Liberty (1859). Liberty is what we Americans cherish, and we learned in our history courses about the chains of tyranny brought on by governments.
Civil liberty (not to be confused with civil rights) is a right we are all given by the US Constitution to keep government at bay from encroaching on our person and our property. The Constitution spelled out some limited power we turn over to government to manage society, and just as important the Bill of Rights ensures what we do not want our government to do to us or for us. We expect Congress to pass no laws to infringe on our liberty, and we expect government officials or any actors to leave us and our property alone. The Bill of Rights protects us from government action to infringe or to restrict our freedom, as we go about our station in life.
Today, people don't talk about fear of tyranny when they distrust a politician or are mistreated by a government agency. Aside from a sprinkle of hyperbole by calling someone a fascist, most warn that the bad actor is a "threat to Democracy." However, we are not a Democracy. By design, the Founders were fearful of a true Democracy. James Madison in Federalist No 10 explained that given human nature, people would pursue narrow interests without regard for the rights of others and the common good. Madison and others had little faith that "cooler heads" will prevail in governing, especially on controversial issues. They were afraid of what the mob faction, affectionately called the masses of asses, would do if given all the power. Thus, as we learned, the Founders set up our Constitutional Republic with three branches of government and plenty of balances and checks to keep the system clunky enough to avoid both rule by a majority or rule by a minority that gains too much power.
What we are witnessing today on our streets, in our businesses, in our schools where we play, and even in our homes is not tyranny by Big Brother, but a social tyranny. John Stewart Mill's classic political philosophy treaties On Liberty warned not only against tyranny by government but what he called "social tyranny." Social tyranny, Mill writes, is when we are told what is socially acceptable to think, say, and do. An influential group in society, not the actual government, makes us do things at first we normally would not do, then over time they make us do things without thinking, to making us do things that are, well, unthinkable!
While Mill warned against a social tyranny by a majority that was promulgating what is customary, today we see social tyranny played out by a small, but growing group of citizens that has a chilling effect on the lives of the majority of Americans. Do what the street mob wants or risk ridicule, be ostracized, suffer economic ruin, or be labeled a racist; and if this is not enough, we risk bodily harm. Given these options, one can see that social tyranny can be more disconcerting than political tyranny. And it is working…
Schools traditionally set curriculum and instruction by subject matter experts credentialed and thoughtful about what students should learn, so they can become productive members of society. Today, administrators and teachers are strong-armed into teaching what is in vogue, with little regard for what parents assume is a "good education." The tyrants have managed to add a few Rs to the curriculum, such as renounce, remove, and resist.
Company board members and executives are tripping over each other to create new marketing strategies, including overt advertising campaigns, to show a Me Too Wokeness. And just to be safe, they will turn money over to a cause or causes that scream the loudest, not in fear of losing customers through such relatively tame strategies as a boycott, but fear of being branded persona no grata by the social tyrant groups. Public officials have become so derelict in their duties to protect their people and their own property that for all the noise over the years about gun control, their lack of fortitude against the social tyrants has pumped triple the number of firearms into our neighborhoods. Ironically, those to whom the tyrants claim to help are falling deeper into despair, as their city blocks and businesses burn. Family members are split between supporting law and order or supporting those victimized by the amorphous villain called systematic racism.
The social tyrants hide behind all of these good works that they ostensibly do for justice sake. More disturbing is the social tyrants hide behind peaceful protesters fighting for legitimate causes of justice and equality for all—things that any of us naturally support. These tyrants use speech that incite lawless action, such as setting fires, destroying property, looting stores, and assault and battery. They use unequivocal fighting words. This type of "speech and demonstration" is not free—a judgment any first year law student with scant knowledge of the law can see and a prosecutor with a modicum of fortitude should charge for these criminal acts.
John Stuart Mill warned about social tyranny from the majority—a majority stifling progress to shift away from old "customs." What we are experiencing, oddly enough, on the surface looks to be a minority. But is it? The tyrants are well funded by back-end wealthy individuals with their Marxist agenda. Demonstration groups are extorting money from corporations and other social service type agencies to feed the cause. However, let's hope that the majority of Americans are still right minded and have the fortitude when the time comes to refuse to acquiesce to some symbolic jester. When someone takes the courage to walk up and take the bullhorn (literally) from the latest mouthpiece and smash it thus breaking it and walks away while they are in disbelief they will slowly return to their bunkers.

Well yes in a nutshell legal citizens have choices, especially when it comes to taking an oath to the Constitution. Could we in fact deal with the end result if we take it a step farther? Many who are drawn to the higher levels lust for ever-increasing power and wealth, which makes maintaining a position towards the top quite precarious.

This public track reminds me licensing. Pay $300 a year, attend 8 hours of continuing education and get your named added on a list for other agencies to harass. Whereas others skip the licensing and no one knows they exist and sometimes is a form of civil disobedience.

I strongly believe the generation in question (18 to 30) still has minds that are most malleable and have only been filled with questionable finding based on lies and repeated hypothesis that once light is shined on them will falter and they will be crushed to see an alternate truth to the one they were sold.
If their sources of fabricated BS and the lies they have been told over and over since they were children are exposed for what they are - lies - they will easily be converted back to the good side of the force. And there will be hope restored.
For those that sold them this line of BS they should have a chance to leave the USA of their of their own free will to a country that accepts them for what they are. There are plenty of socialist countries in the world: Venezuela, Cuba and Russia come to mind as well as plenty of places in Africa and the Baltic’s. 1. We have endured a failed coup attempt directed by the DOJ and supported by the MSM;
2. Based upon an absence of serious legal consequences, the neofascist left was emboldened to undermine a presidential election and promote their candidate into office by fraudulent means again with the support of the MSM and the permanent swamp critters.
Throughout my adult life I have been largely optimistic as to the future of our great Republic. The recent events as highlighted and discussed here have altered my perspective. I can no longer honestly say that the electoral process will prevail to maintain our constitutional Republic.
What then are our options? The notion of a convention of the states is still outstanding and maybe that is our best last hope despite the risks?
Regardless, I think we need to organize our thoughts and begin to publish our thoughts, raise the money to cover costs, and effect an action plan.

Regardless if the clock strikes 13 or not, I still believe it’s not the Constitution that will save the Republic but the original founding document, the Declaration of Independence. Your single source keeps mentioning Constitutional Convention. Article V is the same article that allowed for all of the Amendments that we've had so far. They may either be proposed by Congress or the States. Amendments proposed by either method still have to be ratified by three-quarters of the states. There is no method in The Constitution to provide for a Constitutional Convention.
Example: An Amendment for Congressional term limits.
Would the Congress or the States be more likely to propose this Amendment?

It may, however, be up to the oldsters here at home to take this fight to the Internet, to our elected representatives and perhaps, ultimately even to our streets...no hyperbole, no chest beating...
...we are in the right and choose individual freedom. The freedom that our nation was founded upon when it broke from BIG.GOV.
Those old documents are pretty good...the current groups of folks administering the laws created under those documents are generally self-serving little dictators. They have been almost unquestionably pretty bad.
Good people thorough-out time have seen this movie before. As I have said before, it is a struggle as old as civilization itself.

Whatever it was that happened on November 3, 2016, when everyone woke up from their nightmare scenario and some were still crying that the long shot outsider had beaten the anointed one, even though they cheated then as well, things in America had a major course correction. Back then people voted against the anointed one simply because she was evil, more evil than the outsider who was cast as a misogynistic, rapist and white supremacist. Now, four years later the people not convinced and completely brainwashed by their liberal far left oligarchs and masters have seen what’s behind the curtains in Washington DC and elsewhere and they don’t like it. They also saw that the description of the “Evil Orange Man” was all wrong and completely made up by the media and the left wing evildoers.
Even though there was massive cheating on a scale never seen before and it is still going on through the courts, the legislatures and appointed (not elected, but appointed) officials the process continues through to its natural end.
Whomever is inaugurated and sworn in as President of the United States of America on January 20, 2021, is going to unleash a violent revolt unlike anything seen yet in American history. It may start small but it will quite possibly cause states to secure their borders with adjoining states and limit travel between them.
That is the point where the states will decide to convene a Constitutional Convention to decide the fate of the Union and the Republic for what it was...

Thank you Stobey. I have been opposed to a convention of the states in the past for reasons that you have identified. Similarly, I don't think secession is a rational choice either.
Unfortunately, I am afraid that I am still naïvely thinking that rational discourse will prevail. I am however pragmatic enough to recognize that that is unlikely at this point.
My hesitance was expressed very succinctly by one of my brothers in another forum when he warned- "Do not put us in a position where we have to take up arms! You really won't like the result!"

Wanted to add something from a thought above about states exercising state’s rights to be independent of the federal government and the control that the federal government is planning to exert on those states...
We are going to see “autonomous zones” pop up like FB and Tweeter banners that you have new mail. They are going to be entire cities and spots like “dots” that are not connected and never will be. Places like Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis, New York City, Houston, Dallas and Denver, Los Angeles and San Francisco/Silicon Valley, will all think they are smarter and wiser than the deplorables they despise. They will declare that they have won and control the government and the land that rightfully belongs to the minority.
Problem is they produce nothing but garbage and shit and they will find out very rapidly that this country needs everyone to work smoothly to keep going.

I know your understanding of and education about sociological trends/movements is excellent. I seem to recall a social phenomenon that explains how different groups/tribes of non-human and human primates that are geographically separated arrive at the same new behaviors at the same time.
IIRC this phenomenon accounted for Martin Luther's rise and the Protestant movement as well as the Great Awakening and the American Revolution??
My antennae to these sorts of things is usually pretty sensitive. For example, I was picking up on the emergence of the Populist movement years before it was formally identified, Brexit began, and Trump emerged. I know that I am not unique in this.
Once again, I am sensing rumblings of a major social backlash; this time against over-reaching tyrannical governments. To wit the uprisings in Iran, Hong Kong, China's Uigars and even parents outraged by their local school-boards.
My questions are: (i) What is the social phenemenon where disparate groups arrive at the same thought/behavior at the same time? (ii)Has anything been published about this occurring presently at a scale like the Great Awakening?
TJ, The Great Awakening may be a point of departure regarding group behavior to belief system, but instinctively, may be more aligned to fear in uncertain times. It's interesting to compare human collective action to cause, imoo, when conformity is forced upon a group, be it a few or societal, resistance is a natural response to ensure continuation of the whole, possibly a inherent survival mechenism.

I didn’t read the whole thing word for word but skimmed through looking for a talking point, this one little tidbit caught my eye.

Penn- I read the article. Didn't really answer the broader question regarding collective changes in disparate societal groups. Most everyone on this forum has experienced small group existential adversity and the bonding that results from survival.
I am talking about collective consciousness, awareness, awakenings and the broad society-wide changes that result when they occur. I think this is a very real, palpable phenomenon and they do not require an existential threat.
These events move entire societies in a totally different direction. As I pointed out, they have occurred periodically throughout history. I am just positing that we may be experiencing one again that began with the rise of Populism? :confused:

I don’t have answers to your inquiry about “collective consciousness.” But, you may want to read about groupthink which has been described as the social thinking and collaboration (cognitive) process among an in-group (vs out-group) concerned shared sense of purpose. Well, technically, "Community" by definition has common norms, interests, goals etc. But may not become "real" until it's interests are threatened, and it reacts.
Here's a wrinkle. The United States is in a state of slow collapse. Well, maybe not so slow now. Anyway, as a large community, it's no longer real, or is becoming less real as it collapses.
But it's made up of smaller communities. Some of which are real and are changing/destroying the larger construct. Others are reacting and coming together to fight the collapse.

Today on Glenn Beck's radio show he and Justin Haskins from the Heartland Institue on discussed the Glasgow Summit and the Great Reset. In a nutshell Big Business, Big Banking, Big Insurance, etc met behind the scenes of the Paris Climate Accord to come up with the frame work of the Great Reset. According to Justin Haskins much of the Great Reset involves removing the Dollar as the Reserve currency and destroying the USA as we know it. 84 banks and 36 countries who control 64 trillion dollars have signed onto this and it's being pushed under the guise of Climate Change.

Those are good points. But your also letting in people who for the most part don't have much education. Watching an over weight late 20's early 30's female with two kid waddling across the border who only has a 8th or 9th grade education doesn't have much upside. Talk to your tax accountant about how much gubment bennies she'll get if you don't already know.

ODNT. Yes, there are many social and economic issues which are being used to attack our foundation. Adding to the list clarifies this attack concept. It's full bore, the longer the Socialist democrats remain in power, the more forceful they will assert their goals.

Once they take complete control of the military that may change. I didn’t ever think that was possible but given the usefulness of the pandemic and mandatory vaccination of all remaining people that will apparently follow any orders; anything is possible.
I hope they understand at some point this WILL turn into a shooting war and the military is no match for what may be left of the American citizenry. (If 19th century Afghan tribesmen can defeat two world superpowers with rifles and rocks then alls we have to remember is tanks and planes run on fuel to maneuver.)

Two step process to destabilize a society:

The new hire was responsible for staff dinner. She did a combo of home-made tortellini and gnocchi. When you re-blanche gnocchi in boiling water there is a starch residue that raises in the water, like all flour-based products, she then cooked/blanched the tortellini.
When she served the staff dinner, she told them she cooked the tortellini in dirty water. When confronted by mi esposa, as to why she said that? She played it off. At the end of the evening there is always outstanding coffee left over from service, rather than throw it out, we offer to anyone to take home. It is expensive and is a deep rich chocolatey like coffee. When it was offered to her, she said: “Give it to the black women.”

It's been that way for as long as I can remember.
My Mom would take me to city council meetings, meetings with the banker and such when I was a wee lad. I remember saying on more than one occasion that it isn't supposed to work like that and the response was always 'This is how it works in the real world'....its not what you know, its who you know. Then wife No.1 worked at a law firm that was heavily involved in local and state politics, which was eye opening to put it mildly.

The Top Leadership in the U S Military is Sect. of Defense L. Austin appointed by the Biden power cartel & subject to their whim and so on down the line to the O-6 and then the sub-ordinates say for example, the blue or the gold crew of a Nuclear Sub at sea who really has sway over this group, the sailors on the boat may or may not like what Brain Dead Brandon is pretending to do like making National Trans Day on Easter Sunday. Does Brandon really have control of the nuclear codes? I doubt it; who would believe him or follow his orders for a first strike? Going down the line of command who is the leader that has the respect of the sailors? Does it go down as far as the Captain of the Sub or is it the COB.. Does the POTUS or the National Command Authority has the power over all the subs at sea? I don't know. It would only take 1 small group on! sub to cause a problem for the Woke Progressive Democrats trying to change the culture of the USA.

Interesting thought exercise. It only took 1 "nay" vote in 1962 to not send a nuclear-tipped torpedo from a Soviet sub.
