View Full Version : Berlin Sept 13-16, 2018
My beloved will be running the Berlin Marathon September 16th.*
We will be flying in on the 12th.
Any "coin holders" who want to hit me up for a drink are welcome to PM or post in the open comms because I'd love to buy a German brew for a member of the brotherhood and get some sightseeing tips.
The last two times I was in FRG -- that's what it was called, FRG as opposed to GDR -- I wasn't allowed to go to Berlin. So now I can.
*She won the lottery. Not the really good "you are a multi-millionaire" lottery, but the "gee, since you applied, and have run marathons in the past,
you can pay an entry fee and we will allow you to run in our race" kind of lottery.
Ummm, the following coins will be honored for unlimited drinks as long as I am present:
I have one of those coins. You're soooooooo lucky I won't be in Germany!
Have fun.
Very cool...have a great time and I hope your beloved kicks ass....
Sounds like a great time enjoy! I hope you spend a lot of money on beer.

Hope you are having a nice time. Just got back. Was there for two weeks but in the western most part of the country. The Rhine was beautiful.

yup, I have one as well, but won't be over there. Have a great time!
Safe travels and the best of fortune to your wife! I look forward to hearing about her placing well.
Thank you to all.
She is a finisher. Her time was not what she had hoped (but then it never is).
Now comes the difficult part of the trip ... the Viking River Cruise up the Rhine River ... Amsterdam to Basel. Trip starts Wednesday morning.
My offer stands ...
... one day someone will walk up and coin me ... their steak and lobster avec Chateau Rothschild and Dom Peringon will be covered.
Still waiting.
But you will have to catch me, it's a different port every night.

Hope you brought your protective mask for when you walk through the streets of Amsterdam. The second hand smoke is heavy in some of the alleys. Watch out for all of the stoned millennial zombies walking around too. Lots of nice bars and restaurants in Cologne though. If you still think you are bad you can walk up the 533 corkscrewing steps to the top of the cathedral. I was able to do it last week and the view was nice. The Kolsch beer that is native to Cologne is pretty good.
