I do not support this message.
Not sure why this type of stereotyping is somehow acceptable.
Viet Vets are not all schizophrenic mentally unstable potheads.
VN Veterans are no better or worse than the millions of other veterans that have gone to war.
The one difference, and it's not the veterans. It's how we were treated when we returned.
This stereotyping of VN veterans has been perpetuated by the Left to demean, marginalize, and create a false sense of self-righteous fake compassion, by those that did not serve..
Although some Vets may need help and understanding, they don't need to be stigmatized and portrayed as mentally broken.

Veterans of all conflicts are worthy of honor and respect from their countrymen. Americans of honor do not dishonor the men and women that the politicians and the military send off to wage war on their behalf. Disagree with the politics and reasons for the war, but don't hold it against those who have no control over the wars except for themselves and their teammates.
Vietnam veterans are the greatest of their generation, same as the WW2 and Korean vets are the greatest of their own generations.
In my opinion, it was the leftists and their willing accomplices in the media who demonized the Vietnam Veterans. Just another reason I despise leftists. Even though I was just a teenager, it pissed me off then and still does today.
To all of you who are Vietnam Vets, I salute you and honor your service.

The Vietnam stereotyping and endless movies characterizing destroyed men from the brutality of war etc.....has allowed this generation of soldiers to take advantage of the perception hell kids have gotten 100% disability for basic training (thank you full metal jacket) and Fob-ettes anyone who goes overseas reaps the benefits whether you see combat or not....I really love how my Air Force neighbor goes overboard to make sure everyone knows he is a vet of war time countries I watch him try his best to act like a traumatized warrior LOL

Interestingly, the combat vets I know from VN are some of the sanest people I know.
#2. Four-fifths of my security platoon on Okinawa were 11Bs straight out of the jungle or hospital from VN. Not once in 18 months did I see this happen. Often they were the hardest to wake.
Many of those that did not serve used the denigration approach to underwrite their non involvement.
As 'all' RVN vets were somehow disabled it was smart of them to avoid service.
See, I'm not dodging my commitment to our Country, I'm being smart.
The movies of the later 70's and early 80's all depict RVN service and vets as screwed up....re enforcement for the above.
This urban legend BS was sold so well it has replaced the truth.

Some of these are actually sound advice but need some clarification on the explanations.
#1 the look in my eyes is any number of thoughts; Why did that rookie try to steal second with 3-0 count? What should I cook for dinner? Was that red head with the smokey eyes and tight sweater flirting with me? ALL of which are far more important than the sounds coming from your noise hole so mind your own business
2 and 3 are stupid ideas for anyone anytime.
#4 don’t ask because I am likely to ask how many dicks you’ve sucked for drug money and the conversation will not improve from there.
#5 has nothing to do with PTSD but very thing to do with my ability to come over the top verbally or physically to end the encounter. YES that may include mama jokes and/or great bodily harm to you.
#6 that is not just for veterans but country boys and any other person who works hard for a living and pays their own way.
#7 inter-service rivalry aside, I have more respect for a cook in the Air Force or Navy clerk than I do for an academic who earns a six figure salary and is paying off student loans.
#’s 8, 9 and 10 are just ridiculous
My experience from some VN FOG's I have had interaction with
1. (when your steak is done to perfection and his is not)
2. (It could create a large gas cloud)
3. (You may get pee on your shoes if done in the woods)
4. (He may tell you to buy the next round)
5. (You may be the butt of a joke and won't let you forget)
6. (It's ok to disrespect Jane Fonda, Jon Kerry, and the Clintons)
7. (That will be hard when they have F250's and you have a Honda)
8. (He hates your social agenda, facebook, and smartphones)
9. (Fox holes are made for two)
10. (He already knows his Class A's won't fit, let it be)
