R. Lee Ermey was in town today promoting a new venture that he is the spokesman for. The VFW has teamed up with a company based here (Vermont American Power Tool Accessories — Specialist to the Trades in Bits & Blades.™) to help families of deployed Military (especially Reserve and NG).
What is cool about this organization is you can volunteer your time and professional services, or make a monetary donation. EVERY PENNY that is donated will go toward the services needed or even money for groceries etc. Thought maybe some of you might want to check it out. Additionally a percentage of the sale of any items bought from Vermont American will also be donated to this worthy cause.
As R. Lee Ermey said today, this is not charity. This is America giving back to the families of those who serve and protect this nation. I like that.

On a one-time basis, facilitate the resolution of critical and immediate Unmet Needs of currently—or recently—serving American service personnel and their families, and when possible, other veterans, through direct assistance, referral, and exploration of local outreach opportunities within the VFW and its related projects and communities.
The Unmet Needs Program will primarily focus assistance for currently serving personnel of all branches of the military, especially for the National Guard and Reservists called away from their civilian lives. The program includes Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, National Guard and Reservists.
Why There’s A Need
According to the Department of Defense, our country has over 700,000 military spouses across the services—93% of them women. Nearly half of those are married to enlisted members who make less than $20,000 a year in basic pay. When Reservists are included, these average yearly pay amounts reach alarming lows.
