I'm not surprised that the budget cuts would affect non-deployable troops.

What is a surprise is that 11% of the service members are non-deplov??

I wonder how this will affect service members like Ivan Castro. Who, in my opinion is a great asset to retention and moral. I know He's retired now, but still represents the regiment.

Deploy or get out: New Pentagon plan could boot thousands of non-deployable troops

Service members who have been non-deployable for the past 12 months or more will be separated from the military, based on new Defense Department policies that are under final review.

The “policy will require the services to process members who are non-deployable for 12 consecutive months for admin or disability separation,” according to a draft summary of the policy obtained by Military Times.

Humor this FOG
Anyone have a 2pg(or less) deployable - non-deployable 101 powerpoint?

Are there not bunches of REFM's that will never deploy,, just because? Like the 20yr REFM's at the five-sided outhouse
Are the levels or a class structure, w/time limits for non-deployable(s)?
Are there non-deployable slots(real jobs) that non-deployable medicals can serve in?

I'd be interested in the demographics of these non deployable SMs.

Case of beer says there is a trend.

Half of that 11% is guys red on medpros or chicks getting knocked up, so those numbers will probably be fairly representative of who we have across the force. Now that other half? My money says the overweight female minority pogue outweighs the male 11 or 18 series guy by at least 4:1, per capita.

I chased deployments and every unit getting ready to deploy would become a brand new unit from all the other units getting back. At least I could rely upon the others that continuously deployed with me. We were like a transplant unit.

Having dead weight around just stifled us with paperwork and chapters and many just were not worth taking. I rather deploy with short Crew than have to run a counseling statement paper mill.

It is a great policy, one we have always needed.
But yes, there some worthy of keeping but thats not the turnover generator.

It will take some to track that but worthwhile. AC or AR/NG, there do at times seem to be folks who can be trusted to hit up the doc with "nervous stomach/GI problems" 3 nanoseconds after the unit gets a WARNO. They can then continue to order pizza in to the rear det & complete their online college courses... one of the things that made my daughter pop smoke after 10yrs at Drum, 5-1/2 of it in Astan.

Do it.
