Found this BIO of Robert Mueller

Says he was a Marine but went to Army Jump and Ranger School at Benning in 68.

Anyone hear of jarheads going to these schools in the 60t's??

Even if he did make those schools I have known plenty of people that served that were dirt bags. John Kerry comes to mind right off the top of my head.

Yes,, He is..

I also received a note from the FOG's on the list, Marines didn't have jump nor ranger, so it was fairly common for them to be sent to Benning's School for Boys..

I'm a grad of Ranger class 72-5 (class was actually in '71 because of the fiscal year, graduating just before Thanksgiving) and we had Marines going thru the course then so I'm pretty sure they were doing it in the 60's. I remember ragging one of them because he went on sick call and 'besmirching' the reputation of the Corps by pansying .... lol. Needless to say, it didn't go over well, but you have to remember everyone was mentally geared to avoid any display of weakness ... because you never knew what might precipitate a recycle ... and no one wanted to go through a recycle ... as it was the course then was eight weeks, two days and thirteen minutes long ... and nobody wanted to spend a second longer.

March '69, had 3 marines in my jump school class. In '70 had a SEAL in my Arabic language class while I was in 6th Grp. Ten students, 3 instructors, good ratio.

I went through jump and Ranger schools in late 1968. Had Marines and SEALs in both classes.

The USMC has never had its own jump course and has always gone to the Army's school. And only in the rare cases where their jobs require it, like recon or ANGLICO
