California bill would make it illegal for servers to hand out plastic straws unless asked
Sacramento, CA (KGTV) — A California lawmaker is facing criticism for a bill that, if passed, would make it illegal for servers to offer plastic straws unless asked.
The law makes providing a straw without being asked punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

The law should apply not only to sit-down restaurants, but to bars and fast-food restaurants as well. Think of how many drunkards and dope smoking hippies are collecting and disposing of plastic straws after they get a sack full of Taco Bell at 3am. Think about how much plastic is being wasted as little more than garnish in a watered down jack-and-coke at the local bump and grind on a payday weekend.
Those irritating little fucking umbrellas should be added into the bill along with those stupid little plastic pirate swords that are offered as tooth picks...
...and while I am on the subject, toothpicks should also carry harsh punishments. Just swish some organic, natural, gluten free, vegan mineral water through your mouth and everything should be good. The rain forests are being clearcut just so meat-eaters can pick at their teeth.
Jail time should accompany these offenses.

Just watched a NOVA show on NETFLIX. It was about some Spanish Captain and the remains of part of his party who went downriver in the Amazon around 1542. They had started on the Pacific side.
A Priest kept a journal of the journey and recorded many times going for days passing what seemed like one long village. Thousands of people coming to the edge of the river and shooting arrows at them.
When they made it back to Spain some of the others had got there first and spread the word that they were cowards. The journal was a fake to make them seem like heros. It was thrown in a truck and forgotten for 300 hundred years.
When modern scholars looked at the journal they laughed because there were no great villages in the Amazon.
Looks like modern mapping techniques and archeology are proving the priest right. It is now estimated that there were up to 10 million people living in connected village complexes in the Amazon at the time the Captain and his party drifted down the river.
So what we think of the modern rain forest was the result of disease killing of the indigenous population.
People are getting desperate.
