Our local community collage (Fayetteville Tech) has a two year degree in Culinary Arts.

Within the last year of so the department has been having a dinner every so often and now it's about every three weeks or so. It's a graded exercise for the Chefs in training.

Very limited seating, have to have tickets and pick your dinning time.

My daughter has gotten hooked and goes every time. She has gotten a wonderful meal every time.

Might be nice to see if your local CC is running a similar program. Can't beat a good dinner for $12.96.

Last night was the last one here for the season.

We did the same thing at our culinary college. We’d invite students, family and friends to sample our work.

And Le Cordon Bleu had restaurants at their schools to allow students to work “front of the house” and “back of the house”. I think they charged what the food cost and took no tips. Was a great way to get a gourmet meal for a tenth of the price.

Personally experienced some great meals at CIA Hyde Park, NY campus when passing through. The students can make some great food !

Looks like they may have California and Texas student-run restaurants, also.

To repeat what Pete and TS said - some great food at discounted prices can be available at local culinary colleges which also helps students get some real experience.

Looks like the CIA is promoting its school same way Le Cordon Bleu used to, and Le Cordon Bleu is out of business because of it.

The CIA advertises, "food is big money" trust me, food is NOT big money........ unless you own a chain of restaurants.

The only ones that make a good living out there cooking are chef-owners. And some of the hundred thousand personal chef frauds.

If you work for a restaurant expect minimum wage as a line cook. In the commercial restaurant business its all minimum wage.

The only ones that make it are the ones with a passion to cook.

You've been warned.

Caveat emptor !

Good advise in all purchases/investments.

As a Chef proprietor, TS comment is absolutely true to the extreme.
