Never even knew that there were any bison in Arizona let alone the Grand Canyon. Seems the herd is getting a little too large and might be damaging the ecosystem.

So anybody got a Sharps .45-70 or something bigger available? :D

I read about it long ago........ it's not hunting. You must be escorted by an Arizona Park service person. Then that person "points" at which buffalo you will shoot. It has absolutely has nothing to do with "hunting". Should be called "Buffalo Shooting". Then you must give away much of the animal to the "indians", why, I've no idea. I guess the casinos here in the state, all owned by the indians, don't pay enough...........

Why don't they just invite the tribes to "hunt" given the number of restrictions?

TS is correct,,

This is herd culling.

Goes on all the time in the East because the F&G tree huggers allow the deer herds to over populate.

The cattle industry fights reintroduction of predatory critters, like the wolf, because the wolfs like easier pray like sheep, cattle, horses.

Florida started culling Gators 20 yrs ago and finally gave up and now allow a hunting season. They also opened up hunting for big snakes.

Florida stopped bear hunts long ago and now have them in populated communities.

And the buffalo are on tribal lands....... but if the tribes up north are anything like the ones near Phoenix the hike "to" the buffalo would surely kill them. A very sad state of affairs indeed.
