Hello professionals,

anyone ever work there (Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar) for 1 year+?
I would like to solicit of practical tips/info not necessarily covered in agency fact book, regular travel channel, and state dept advisory.

I read the embassy commissary is mighty pricey due to imported items, and local markets are not always accessible with security measures. Earning in USD and expenditure in Rupee is the goal :D

Also feel free to recommend urdu resources outside gloss dli and rosetta stone.

Many thanks!

My recommendation? Don't do it. Unfavorable potential for realizing ROI.

As for sources - the current SWCS CG spent two years there. He's a good guy and a consummate SF officer, which speaks to how he managed to "preserve" US/ Paki relations during a particularly difficult time (and got recognized for it), hence his current rank.

I concur and have my preference. Needs of Uncle Sam unfortunately.
