Wow...that's some memories....that I foggily remember...

At least I got to "experience" it before they transformed it...80's/'90's

I remember in '69 driving down Hay Street at night and the front doors of the strip clubs would be wide open. If you drove slow enough you could watch the show.

Seems lke there was an inordinate number of bored ladies on Hay Street, because you couldn't walk 30 feet without one asking about having a good time.???

You shoulda seen Bragg blvd in those days. Shorter trip from Smokebomb Hill than Hay Street. (Is there still a smokebomb hill at Bragg? When I first went to 6th Grp it was located on smokebomb hill).

To a 21 year old green, country ass boy from Mississippi, Hay Street, circa 1980, seemed like Mardi Gras and Disneyworld rolled up into one.

If you see a picture with Rick's Lounge in it - it ain't the 500 Block. Rick's was on the 400 Block.

In a couple of pictures of the west end of the 500 Block you see a large building. 74 to around 78 that used to be two bars.

Pizza by the slice - anybody remember that joint - on the corner by the rail road tracks. Lots of guys guys got a slice before boarding the vomit comet.

Never heard of the place. Besides I had no time for it after military requirements as bible study took up all my time.

There is always some landnav stud that wants to show off. I am sure anyone would have found in back in the day. You forget how relentless you were as a youngster.

We came up from Jacksonville, and the thing I remember was EVERY Army MP I saw on Hay Street was ginormous.;)

I guess by the mid '80s Hay Street was just a shadow of it's former self, or at least that's what I remember some of the older guys telling me. But hey, Rick's and a few other places were still open and I should probably have owned stock in them considering how much beer I bought there. :D

I dived into Rick's and dragged my roommate with me when I got bounced from ACLS and thus paramedic school. Man I wish I had the money I spent in establishments like that back. I'd spend it all over again.:D
