first off, thanks for everybodies service and all that

looking forward to signing up and getting through the pipe line, but i have always really wanted to be the best of the best… of the best lol. so my question is, after going through all the phases, how long do I have to be on the A team before I can go to CAG (btw CAG is the real name for Delta force) is there a time limit I have to wait there before taking the next step?

I would like to get to get through halo school first so thats a couple of months, but how much longer after that? maybe I am putting the carrot in front of the horse but part of what makes me successful is being so driven, I’m pretty sure that’s what there looking for.

You are kidding, right?

For someone who seems to think he is all that, you missed the instructions here about where to put your first post. Your attention to detail is also deficient.

You also seem to think that you have what we are looking for, and frankly, from what you have put in this post, I doubt that you will make it through Basic and AIT.

Apparently, you have a problem with doing a little reading before jumping in with both feet and are unable to follow simple instructions. That is not who the people that assess for the units you are asking about are looking for.

I recommend that you follow the instructions, and spend some time reading before asking silly questions again.

What you really need (stat) are remedial writing and grammar skills. Apparently, you got short-changed back in 6th Grade English Class.

This isn't twitter. Or some Call of Duty gamer forum. SF Soldiers are expected to be literate as well as detail oriented. So too are Delta personnel.

If you can't follow simple instructions, much less properly punctuate a sentence, your prospects for success with either endeavor are nearly non-existent.

Read more, post less.

In the world you think you want, people who try to impress by casually affecting unearned salty slang... get looked upon as punks and idiots.

Drop the Mr. Casual Act. We're not your fucking buddies and so far, you don't impress. You're not in the SF circle... much less the Army one. Don't presume to act like you are.

Your recruiter has already fed you a line of bullshit and you're not concerned enough to do some on-line research to verify just how that's so. You fell for the classic recruiting pitch. Rising from the bottom like a large mouthed bass striking a shiny lure.

If it isn't written in black & white in your enlistment contract, before you enlist... it does not exist. There are a couple ways to accession into the enlisted SF career path from the street. Perhaps if you wind your neck in, one of the good Senior SF NCOs in this thread may deign to fill you in. Otherwise, you'd probably benefit from more reading on this forum and use of the search function.

Look up 18X ("X-Ray") Program and Rep 63 National Guard SF.

If you're serious about Serving the Nation as a Soldier and future SOF NCO, knock out about 100 pushups (right now) for being a fucking smart ass and an idiot. I'm serious about you doing those. Then incorporate them into your daily routine. You'll thank me later.

Of course, you probably won't. Just like you won't make any effort to improve writing beyond Jr. High School level proficiency. Because you can't see the need for any of those things. Because you're too wrapped up in fantasy land imaginings to know when real people are giving you real advice. The kind you can take to the bank.

You aren't even in the Army yet. I predict you'll have an interesting time in Basic. And never attempt Selection. Or never even enlist. Prove me wrong.

If you've got serious questions, ask away and skip the chatter. If not, STFU.

Stitches,
Don't let these grouchy old bastards deter you. You are a young man with plenty to offer and most of these old guys haven't seen action since the Battle of Thermopylae.

They all mean well, they are just trying to recapture their youth - they live vicariously through guys like you and me - we've still got plenty of youth and energy, while most of these old dawgs rely on 'blue-pills' and 'vitamin-M' just to get through the day.

Dude… recruiters don’t tell you all of the story and these old geezers have been out so long that they don’t realize how much things have changed!!!
You don’t need a contract to get what you want – if you want to go to airborne school, you can do that shit from boot camp. Once you get past phase-3 of recruit training, just tell your DI’ that you need to fill out a DA-4187 to become a paratrooper – BAM – you’ll go to jump school from boot camp. (wait until you complete phase-3 or instead of filling out a 4187’ your DI will put you on KP duty for trying to jump the gun).

ALSO… don’t be a dumbass and fall for that “11 bang-bang” sales pitch. If you get hurt or something goes wrong, you are fucked – and you get nothing. Remember – you are going to talk to your Drill Instructor about going to airborne school and the SF Q-Course on your way to Delta. 11-bang-bang has SHIT for bonus money right now. You could earn up to $40,000 in cash bonuses just for enlisting as a PATRIOT Fire Control Enhanced Operator/Maintainer (MOS 14E). Once you bank the bonus, you can drop your DA-4187 for selection; since SF is a shortage, you’ll get to keep the bonus money.

Think long range bruh’ – use that bonus money to buy a Glock and a ton of 9-mil ammo to train with. That will give you a head start for the high speed pistol shooting skills you will need when you make the move to Delta.

Lastly… you don’t have to be a Ranger or SF guy to find a job in Delta. Once you graduate from jump school, you can apply directly to Delta (http://www.deltajobs.net/career_destinations.htm)for whatever job you want…

Good Luck !!!

The new poster child for anosognosia (Dunning-Kruger Effect)...

Dunning-Kruger Article (https://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/06/20/the-anosognosics-dilemma-1/)

As Dunning read through the article, a thought washed over him, an epiphany. If Wheeler was too stupid to be a bank robber, perhaps he was also too stupid to know that he was too stupid to be a bank robber — that is, his stupidity protected him from an awareness of his own stupidity.

That's steel on target right there...

That's right my bad, they renamed it after all the federal agencies determined it was crap. The P320 must be the new and improved model (it comes in other colors than basic black.) And yes have to have the threaded barrel and screw on silencer. The short barrel/slide for clandestine op's and the long barrel/slide for long range over 200M threats in the desert.

Thanks for the correction.

Stitches,
The fastest way to "jump the fence" is just drive right up to the main gate and tell them that you are there to sign up. You need to do this after you sign up for "truck mechanic" and before you go to basic. Being a "truck mechanic" is the fast track. As an 11 series it will take you ages. 18X is the same path as 11X.

If you do this, they will send you to an onsite truncated basic and AIT. Their HALO/SCUBA school is part of AIT and it can be completed in 1-month, if you are a1st time go at all stations, and you will be in the real game by 2-months doing real black ops.

You do not need to worry about gramar, but you do need to know how to text real fast, on the move, and with one hand.

Best of luck.

No they prefer right now helicopter mechanics. That way you can fix them and fly them. When you are in E&E you steal a Helo and fly out to a safe zone.

From stitches' intro: ...we did look at the 18 x-ray but I couldn't do it because there was some stuff in my background from a few years ago (total BS btw). apparently though you can go to 11 bravo boot camp and make the switch there so that's the plan.

I had some more questions about getting from there to CAG (Delta force) but the recruiter didn't seem to know much about that so it was back to research!...

The average recruiter knows as much about Delta (or Special Forces) as most people know about being an astronaut. All they have are the recruiting regulations and MOS quota screens in front of them.

As you finally managed to post an intro (and have indicated a desire to go Infantry), you should consider getting your butt into the 75th Infantry Regiment. That's the very best place for someone with your goals (SF and/or Delta). Serving as a Ranger in one of the Battalions is superb preparation and useful experience for trying out for the other two. 75th is the finest infantry formation in the US military. Period. Light years ahead of and significantly tougher than elsewhere. That includes the USMC, 82nd Airborne, etc. It's also arguably the most difficult such formation to join. They weed out the stupid, the braggarts, and the weak.

If you manage to pass RASP and successfully serve in the Ranger Regiment, you'll be more than adequately prepared for attending future Selection Courses. As well, with such a tour under your belt, you'll be plugged in to EXACTLY what is required to take the next step toward Delta (or SF). Many from both organizations started out in the Rangers.

If you are half the hard charger you think you are, becoming a Tabbed & Scrolled Airborne Ranger 11B NCO should be your initial enlistment goal. That achievement will definitely redefine your concept of "extreme sports". And set you up for success in the greater US SOF community.

If, as I suspect, you need a legal waiver to join the Army, a Ranger Enlistment Contract (Option 40) may not be on your immediate horizon either. For the same reason that you can't meet Army SF 18X prerequisites. But ask your recruiter anyway. If you do meet the requirements, don't take no for answer. He may not have a slot open now... but he will later. Or go see another recruiter. Recruiters sometimes act as if they don't need you. They do. Their job is to get laid (recruit & ship enlistees). Your job is to be coy and keep your legs crossed (don't sign a contract) until presented with the exact engagement ring you picked out. Otherwise, you're just giving up your ass to the Army for free. It's a dance. Don't burn any bridges with your recruiter, but don't be in a rush to join up this week either. You can afford to wait until they offer what you want.

After your meeting with that first recruiter, I'm sure you now see that actions in the dim past have consequences further down the road. Life is like that. Keep your nose clean in the future. If you need to get something expunged from your juvenile record, work an extra job until you can afford an attorney to accomplish that. It'd be worth the investment.

(BTW: Another reason not to talk stupid smack on the internet. Posts are forever and SOF is a small world. Additionally, social media & forums are bad places to hang out your attitude or dirty laundry when you need a future security clearance.)

Don't go into the Army dumb. Aggressively chase down every assignment you seek and don't settle for a hazy future. It's not enough to "go 11B". Get assigned to a specific unit. Specific schooling. Make it happen. Grab that bull by the horns and steer it where you want to go. That's the hallmark of future SOF types.

How old are you? (Don't worry, I ain't going to call you "sonny" or "junior".) But it helps to understand your age/life experience when offering career advice about SF. Teens? Twenties? Thirties? Spouse? Kids? Student? Worker? Educational level?

People here will help folks with a true desire to join SF. If you have it, it will show in how you articulate your vision. If it's from the heart (and brain), the QPs here will respond with useful information and advice for a guy showing that he wants it.

Hey, that reminds me...

Did you do those fucking push ups? I thought not. You're still behind the power curve.
