A bit too forward, perhaps?

I'm looking to find a localized mentor based on my location. I do not want to hound anyone. I have been given some suggestions from one of my NCOs who is definitely NOT a QP. These suggestions include fairly local business owners. I don't want to overstep my bounds yet, I am compelled to seek out the best process pursuant of my goal in finding a warrior-mentor. I'm looking for suggestions.

Most of us believe that the people we are looking for do not require mentors, or hand holding of any type.

I believe that the people we are looking for are self-starters and more like Captain Andrew Rowan.
