During this incident he supposedly called in to a Melbourne news station saying "this is for ISIS, this is for al-Qaeda", or words to that effect.

Score:

More from the Daily Mail- aaaand it's Islam.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4573974/Melbourne-terror-attack-gunman-named-Yacqub-Khayre.html

A Somalian-born man who carried out an 'ISIS-inspired' attack on the streets of an affluent Melbourne suburb, had previously faced court over terror charges.

Yacqub Khayre murdered one man, wounded three police officers and took a woman hostage in a dramatic two-hour siege in a hotel on Bay Street, Brighton, on Monday.

The 29-year-old was killed by police in an exchange of 'severe gunfire' shortly before 6pm, ending the hostage situation inside 'The Buckingham' serviced apartments.

Now it has been revealed that Khayre was previously charged, and acquitted, with planning a suicide attack against Sydney's Holsworthy army barracks in 2009, the Herald Sun reports.

But despite being well known to counter terrorism police, he was deemed a low-risk of offending and released on parole - before committing the attack: 'For IS and for al-Qaeda'.

The governments need to renew and revise their assessments of "low risk" terrorists. Seems like the ones conducting attacks all over are somehow "known to authorities" but too low risk to do anything about.

When will gov'ts of Western Civs wake up?

I heard it took the UK Police 8 minutes to arrive on scene the other day. You can kill and maim a lot of people in 8 minutes.....especially a Gun Free Zone like the UK.

Based on all the terrorism over the last 10 years, the only things governments are going to continue to do is play smoke and mirrors and create more bureaucracy. Body scanners and the protection force know as the TSA are two good example of what I am speaking of.

The best thing the government could do to fight terrorism is for Conservation Department to mandate a new hunting season with no tag limit and no ammo/caliber restrictions.

Somalia would be a great place to test Naval Gunfire. Just make it a range.

Unarmed police were on the scene much faster. One cop who took on the three terrorists with nothing more that a baton is still in hospital recovering from severe injuries.

While the armed police had all three shot and out of the fight eight minutes after the first 999 call came in, the Met's stated goal is to have armed response on scene in three minutes.

The UK's national debate on whether to arm all police is about to reach critical mass. How different would the outcome in Garland, TX have been had it taken eight minutes for armed officers to arrive?
