Nice picture, Col Howard looks good, I see a resemblance between Toby and his neice. I think she will be able overcome any obstacles that looking like Toby might cause.

Col Howard looks as hard as woodpecker lips. There is no doubt in my mind that even at his age he would probably be able throw me a beating I wouldn't soon forget.

I know both of those gentlemen, and I'm glad the niece is in the picture, it makes a picture of those two easier to look at.

There's only one GENTLEMAN in that pic, and he has the MOH around his neck.

Props to NDD for hosting, posting that pic.

I'm incredibly honored to know a MAN such as Bob Howard. i consider him to be a friend, a mentor and most of all, A BROTHER, although a considerably older Brother!!!!!!!!! ;)

Toby, Amber's Uncle!!!

In this case, looks are NOT deceptive. I also served with Bob Howard and always respected him. On one of my operations he was right at the front of the line of volunteers to come pull my ass out of the fire, dead or alive.

In the last statement you can add the word "Still".

Sorry to upstage you Toby but you soar with lofty eagles.

A quick question: how did the neice get four rows of ribbons? What are all of those for? None for combat, I assume. It makes me feel inferior when hers is bigger than mine.

Toby you should be proud. and believe me buddy I was using the word gentleman loosely when referring to you........I happen to know you and consider you a brother in arms and a friend. I do agreee with everyone about COL. Bad Bob Howard had the privilge of workinng for him, call him Boss and friend. He 's always been harder than woodpecker lips.

In the left Pic, the Brother in the Center is Melvin Hill and the one on the end is Millard Moye'. They both made HALO Insertions into North Vietnam, Hill on the first ever Combat Halo Jump and Moye' on the only totally successful one !!! Melvin is in his 60s and still charges hard !!!!

Moye' was also a student in One-Zero School with me and he vividly remembered the "Brightlight" that I posted the AAR from in the Briefback Forum . This last SOAR, was the first time I had seen him since RVN !!

Cecil Ames was a SGM in Training Group when I had Demo Committee.

COL Moroney probably remembers him.

Martin metioned the last SOG Halo mission. The first pic shows Chuck Clayton, RT California, Mike Bentley, RT Arizona, and Emmitt Dover, RT Hawaii. Bentley was a member of that four man team.

The next pic shows an unknown LT(Martin, a lil hep!!), CPT Jim Storter, and 1SG Billy Greenwood. Storter was the TL on that mission, and the one with the least amount of FF experience.

It's not always easy to tell from a picture, but it looks like:

Navy Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Battle E

Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal

Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, GWOT Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon

United Nations Medal, Rifleman Ribbon, Pistol Shot Ribbon

The pics depict the "Kontum USO". What actually happened is that Joe and I went the camp carpenters and had them make a USO sign, then took it to a local, uh, "bar".

The participants are Virgil Paulk, Mike Sheppard, Wil Curry, Ralph Rodd, Toby, Emmitt Dover, Larry Predmore and Lynn Moss.

The folks in the other pic are Joe, Ralph Rodd, Galen Musselman, Toby and Predmore.

Funny, the Mama-san was glad to see us, but dint unnerstan what all the hub-bub was about, and dint know why SHE hadta buy the drinks at the "Grand Opening".

For you FOGs there before me, this was Hazel's down the road from the Leprosorium. Home to "Helen" and "Tiger", among other "ladies".

Yeah, doesn't surprise me at all. Most of us were still around in the late 80s/early 90s at least!!!

Even tho I ended my career ignominiously as a staff puke at Ft Sam, I was able to see comtemporaries come thru, as the 18D course was still being conducted in the 600 area of Ft Sam. Such luminaries as Walt Hetzler, Ken McMullen, John T and numerous others came thru as Guest Speakers, visitors, and as fathers of students!! And no less an SF Medic than Kramer D Regan was the Academy of Health Sciences CSM, the number 2 Medic in the whole Army.

And of course LTC (formerly SFC) Rocky Farr, MD, was the Course Director.

Somma the noobs oughtta do a Google on somma those names!!!!!

:o :D

Kramer Regan was our medic on A-2 in Germany in 65. During the annual MOS training the only comment the Group surgeon had was that Kramer should be a doctor. Hiswife outranked him. She was an Army nurse.. She was stationed at the McGraw Army Hospital in Munich while Kramer was in Lenggries. Their plan was for her to put him through medical school. He obviously changed his mind and made a career of the Army. One of the finest individuals I have ever met.

Unlike most of us in Germany, the Regans had an affinity for "Martoonies". ;) In Lenggries the team rooms were in the basement. The team room was on one side of the hall and the team store room was across the hall. Sometimes Kramer would get martinied out and someone on the team would drive him to work. We would lock him in the store room until he sobered up and report him as present in formation. This was common practice for several tipsy team mates over the years.

I believe his wife's name was Dee. She worked at the ER and when a member of group was brought in for a BAT she would draw blood from another patient for the alcohol test. :p

TerribleTobyt

When I went thru 300-F1 in Jan 78, Rocky was an SFC fixinta goat a Med School. But he had a slide show from his days as Medic at Ban Me Thout, CCS, that the staff made time for every class back in the day to see. Alla those things that were in the old A-Team Medic kit-the Reagent kit, the manual centrifuge, the microscope, along with the minor surg and dental kits, were all part of the equipment that Medics had back in the dispensaries in camp.

Somma the Chase Medics of note at CCC during my time there were John Padgette, Chet Gaston, Bob Zamudio and Tony Dorff. Great guys all, who'd hang it all out there for Recon Teams that were in trouble and on the run.

And they offered the service running a, uhm, special clinic for the "ladies" of the 'ville, onna weekly basis, thus keepin STDs to a minimum!!!! ;)
