Super Soldier: US Navy Seals having their brains zapped to improve shooting ability
Five US Navy units currently testing devices that enhance cognitive abilities using electrical stimulation. By Mary-Ann Russon

The US Navy is now actively testing devices that stimulate the brain using electricity to enhance soldiers' cognitive abilities.

Naval Special Warfare Command officials have revealed that in 2016, at least five Navy Seal units trialled a technology called transcranial electrical stimulation, whereby the cranium is directly stimulated with electrical signals in order to enhance mental and physical performance in soldiers.

Thru the tongue or thru a $749 unproven device?

At least the company publishes the research data that remains inconclusive rather than spruking it like the cure for cancer. The pedigree of the founders is legit.

It's worth playing around in this space, but I'm sure it will not all be in a straight line moving high and right on the chart.

There's another one just coming out of Kickstarter(where Halo also started) that hits on another area of neuroscience:

Whether it's the motor cortex(former) or mental focus/concentration(latter), tech and science are getting better.

My best guess is there are benefits to be derived from all this, but it does still feel a little like the "biofeedback" craze of the 1970's.

Hopefully efficacy/value exceeds that other craze of the 1970's, the pet rock.

For most SEALS, passing third grade would also have helped.....:munchin

Is this the device in question? I think this is an actual SEAL getting cognitive improvement for his shooting skillz, which we all know they need help with.

Perhaps this is the device in question? That guy looks smarter already.
