This 2lb pack-able mini/micro turbine looks promising, for those areas where you can get clean winds. Could replace or augment solar panels. When the sun is not out but the wind is blowing..

Estimated to generate "a constant output of 5 Watts at a wind speed of 18 km/h'

It won't run an air-conditioner,, but should keep your cattle prod topped off??

Anyone tried similar gear?

Golf1echo had posted this a bit ago in Pro Gear:

Thought between this rig and a few small solar panels you could maintain simple comms equipment or a hardbook with judicious care. Looks like field repair wouldn't be too difficult, and a few spare sails and battens would pack pretty small.

Seems like a lot of potential, remote isolated places often have wind. Experiencing some icy down valley currents and knowing it doesn't take that much heat inside insulation to make a big difference or that much energy to warm. Those currents tend to be twice a day similar to on shore off shore currents with potential day and night, certainly makes one think.

Effectively managing the energy generated wind/ solar/ generated is what makes the difference...making it practical. Here is an interesting company: https://protonex.com/applications/

I recently noticed a small unit shelter NATICK came up with, alternative energy is part of the solution: https://www.armytimes.com/articles/army-designs-small-unit-shelter-that-deploys-rapidly-for-soldiers-on-the-move

One could plug in different solutions....there was a small water turbine that got some press recently as well.
