Good question. I have 2 Krags that I would like to shoot again also.

Cheapest I have found, using the ammo bots, is about $1.50 per round.

If you want to shoot it, you'd better take up reloading.

Larry, et all

Not a spert...

303 Brit in a Krag..

The 30-40 is just a tad different in the shoulder than the 303 Brit, so it can not be fire formed in a Krag, but you can move the shoulder by using a 30-40 case forming die.

Link to disscussion..

OR,, re-barrel to ?? The 7mm mauser & 7.62x51 rim to small, 30.06 may not cycle in the Krag ??cartridge holder??

Thanks, sir. Krags are scant. I would bet that rechambering requires being aware of pressures/overpressures on the receiver. I fire reduced recoil in my low serial number 1903 as a precaution. Thanks all.

Somewhat, It's the bolt lugs that take the strain, but in this case the 303 & 30-40 are near equal..

The Krag is not a particularly strong action.

Actually if you can get 30-40 krag ammo for 1.50 a round I would jump on it. Have not seen Krag ammo for years. I would suspect 2.00 a round is more likely.
