Trying to scam folks?
A female that knew my name said this was a phone call from the "Vital American Veterans" asking for money.
When I interrupted and asked what website she hung up.
I've little doubt it's a scam.

There are lots of these going around. Do-Not-Call violations or not being able to cite a state Telecomm Marketing Permit ID mean nothing to these people.
Ahh, the hacked systems that put our shit in the wind, which one... so many to choose from...

Another reason I do not answer my phone if the number is not in my contacts. They can leave a message and if it's truly important they will.

Bingo! I made the exact same statement this week to a family member. Everyone who truly needs to contact me is in my contacts...everyone else can leave a message.
