A few questions:

Your two grandfathers, eh? When were they born? My grandfathers were born in the 1920s. My great grandfather was born in the 1890s... no one that fought in the Revolutionary War was even alive when he was born. Was one of your grandfathers named Methusula?

Kinser, Wade? A 10 second google search can get me the names of KIAs and artlices with their names in it.

Brother in arms? When did you go to SFAS? SFQC? Last I remember 37F was not Special Forces and the last time I saw PsyOps (aka MISO) in combat was sitting on a base jerking themselves off to their "product" in 2002.

There are a variety of ideas put out regarding the meaning of the fringe on the flag. The most important one from a constitutional perspective is the claim that that flag with fringe is a flag that indicates admiralty law is in effect wherever that flag is displayed, such as in a court room. If true that would mean that courts which have a fringed flag (which is almost all courts in the land) are not Constitutional courts (Article Three Courts) but Admiralty Courts where Constitutional provisions do not apply but rather Admiralty law prevails. Now take that idea and put it together with the clear reality that most of our courts are not following the Constitution as ratified by our founders, but some other form of unconstitutional law such as international law, and you can see why this idea has gained legs in the patriot community. Thus this theory would help us understand the other wise infuriating and treasonous actions of the judicial branch. So the theory claims we are under martial rule and admiralty law, some would date that from The War to Prevent Southern Independence, others from World War I or World War II; it matters not according to this theory because the end result is that today we are no longer under the Constitution but under martial law and the fringed flag is but one demonstration of that reality.
But such a theory has one gigantic problem, there has been no legal suspension of the U.S. Constitution, it is still the supreme law of the land. Even though it is violated daily in Washington D.C. and all across this land, it still is the law and can and must still be enforced by all those who take an oath to uphold it – whether military folk or politicians. So even if the above theory were true, and the quote below I believe dispels that idea, the Constitution is still the supreme law of the land even when grossly violated as it is in our day. And our duty as citizens is to educate an ever widening circle of Americans on the true meaning of our Constitution so that we can restore the Republic. I think the Admiralty law theory brings despair and hopelessness to patriots who are told we have no way to restore America.

Some researchers have concluded,

"There is no record of an Act of Congress or Executive Order which either prescribes or prohibits the addition of fringe, nor is there any indication that any symbolism was ever associated with it. The use of fringe is optional with the person or organization displaying the flag."

This additional quote is from the book “So Proudly We Hail, The History of the United States Flag” Smithsonian Institute Press 1981, by Wiliam R. Furlong and Byron McCandless.

"The placing of a fringe on Our Flag is optional with the person or organization, and no Act of Congress or Executive Order either prohibits the practice, according to the Institute of Hearaldry."

Fringe is used on indoor flags only, as fringe on flags on outdoor flags would deteriorate rapidly. The fringe on a Flag is considered an ‘honorable enrichment only’, and its official use by the US Army dates from 1895. A 1925 Attorney General’s Opinion (34 Op. Atty. Gen 483) states:

"the fringe does not appear to be regarded as an integral part of the Flag, and its presence cannot be said to constitute an unauthorized addition to the design prescribed by statute. An external fringe is to be distinguished from letters, words, or emblematic designs printed or superimposed upon the body of the flag itself. Under law, such additions might be open to objection as unauthorized; but the same is not necessarily true of the fringe."

So it appears the gold trim is generally used on ceremonial indoor flags that are used for special services and is believed to have been first used in a military setting. It has no specific significance and its use, from what I understand, is in compliance with applicable flag codes and laws. To conclude, gold fringe is used on the flag as an honorable enrichment only. It is not regarded as an integral part of the flag and its use does not constitute an unauthorized addition to the design prescribed by statutes.

ARE 11 GREEN BERETS STILL MISSING?

Eleven Green Beret soldiers who entered Iraq on a sabotage and spy mission are missing in action but their disappearance has not been acknowledged by the military, according to a published report.

The soldiers were part of special operations forces that infiltrated Iraq during Operation Desert Storm to locate missile launchers, pinpoint air targets and steal enemy equipment, Newsweek reported in its March 18 issue.The magazine also said the Pentagon denied the existence of some covert operations even after they ended in U.S. deaths.

A senior Pentagon military official, speaking Monday on condition of anonymity, said he had heard nothing about 11 missing Green Berets. But he also acknowledged, "If there was some reason we thought we could get them back, we wouldn't announce it."

U.S. military officials in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, declined to discuss the report. "If it's Special Operations we do not discuss it," said Army Maj. Thomas Nickerson.

Newsweek also reported that seven people reported killed in the crash of a helicopter in Saudi Arabia were attempting to rescue three commandos stranded inside Iraq. Military officials say the helicopter was on a routine medical evacuation mission.

The Associated Press reported later that the helicopter was a Special Forces aircraft that crashed in a fierce sandstorm at Raffa, a base in the western Saudi desert. Many of the Green Beret operations inside Iraq came from Raffa, military sources said.

A visitor to Raffa, who asked not to be named, said he saw the wreckage and was told it was bringing wounded Green Berets back from Iraq when it crashed.

Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf acknowledged on Feb. 27 that Army Special Forces operatives were part of the allied forces deployed against Iraq.

Military officials have said the helicopter crashed Feb. 21, but a similar incident reported Sunday by the British newspaper The Independent gave the date as Feb. 2.

The elite troops operating inside Iraq "contributed more to the victory than any other members of the allied military," The Independent reported. Special Forces soldiers used hand-held laser devices to target crucial radar stations for allied jets, The Independent reported.

As a newly minted officer in the U.S. Army reserves, Scott Allan Bennett received rave reviews from his superiors at the 11th Psychological Operations Battalion during his first evaluation as a 2nd Lieutenant. Bennett, a personnel officer, was lauded, among other things, for devising a system to ensure evaluations were done on time. He was recommended for promotion. "His future with the Army is unlimited," wrote one superior officer. Then came the lies, prosecutors say.

Even before his evaluation was done, Bennett wrote an email to his civilian employer, military contractor Booz Allen Hamilton, seeking a position at MacDill Air Force Base. In the email, Bennett inflated his role with the Army. In the email, introduced this morning at Bennett's federal trial on charges that he lied his way onto housing at MacDill Air Force Base, Bennett told Booz Allen Hamilton officials that he was a "psychological operations officer" with counterterrorism experience and an "Islam analyst" who had worked with U.S. Special Operations Command and the State Department. He wrote that he had a secondary military specialty as a personnel officer. But that wasn't true, Lt. Col. Joel Droba, an Army reservist and commander of Bennett's battalion, testified. Bennett was not a psychological operations officer, had not undergone the training, and served in a support role as a personnel officer. And Bennett never had any orders from Special Operations Command during his tenure with the battalion. Army Lt. Col Frank Harrar, aide de camp to Special Operations Command chief Adm. Eric Olson, later testified that Socom had no record of contracts with Bennett. In January, 2010, Booz Allen Hamilton approved a contract for Bennett to work as a counter-threat finance analyst at the Joint Intelligence Operations Center at U.S. Central Command. Later that month, investigators say that after arriving at MacDill on a flight with Special Operations Command commander Adm. Housing officials allowed him to move in despite not having provided copies of his orders or a military pay stub. Then at about 2 a.m. on April 23, he showed up at the Dale Mabry gate and was stopped for a routine security inspection. An inspection of his car found two knives and an empty gun holster. Bennett denied having more weapons when asked by a guard. Bennett, according to investigators, appeared confused during the encounter, and Tampa police were called in. Police found a concealed weapon on Bennett and upon inspection of the car found a loaded handgun, three more knives, a box of throwing stars, a large machete, a collapsible baton, a sling shot with BBs and mace. Bennett also had a stun gun and had concealed weapons permits from Utah and Virginia. After being released by police, Bennett returned to the gate, where he was arrested and read his rights. Bennett refused a request by Air Force police to inspect his base housing, and investigators obtained a search warrant through a military court. Once inside Bennett's housing, investigators found seven loaded firearms, 9,389 rounds of ammunition, numerous knives, an electric stun gun and a collapsible baton in addition to other weapons and unnamed prohibited material. Under MacDill regulations, Bennett was supposed to report any weapons and ammunition. According to investigators, he failed to do so. Bennett was fired by Booz Allen Hamilton shortly after the incident at the gate. The DUI charges against Bennett were dropped by state prosecutors after Bennett, 40, was charged with one count of making a false statement on a matter within the jurisdiction of the executive branch of the government, one count of wearing his uniform without authorization and one count of violating a defense property security agreement by storing weapons and ammunition in his apartment without permission of the base. Bennett has pleaded not guilty. The prosecution is scheduled to rest its case early tomorrow and it may go to the jury Thursday afternoon. Defense attorneys would not say whether Bennett will take the stand. Shortly after the incident at the Dale Mabry gate, Droba wrote a second annual review of Bennett, who is still in the reserves, but has been stripped of his access to MacDill and his top secret security clearance. While he was still performing his military duties in an exemplary fashion, Bennett failed the honor and integrity portions of the review. "Did Lt. Bennett discredit the Army?" a prosecutor asked Drobna this morning. "In my opinion," he replied, "yes."

It is not illegal to make political contributions, so if one cannot prove there was quid-pro-quo it doesn't matter, unless you are paranoid and believe everyone is out to get you.
