Pilot Takes Down Unruly Passenger - American Airlines Flight to Charlotte

Published on Aug 2, 2016
Newly released video, obtained by the Lexington Herald-Leader, shows a Lexington man being subdued by a pilot after a confrontation with the flight crew of an American Airlines flight to Charlotte.

Lexington native Brian Colón, 23, shot the video on the July 21 flight that ended in the arrest of Michael Kerr, who worked as a cook at Portofino until he was fired last week.

Personally, I think he got off pretty lightly! :) He should be happy!

Good on the pilot for doing something and not just turning a blind eye!

I hope the younger pilot was just dead-heading. Don't want both pilots out of the cockpit at the same time.

Yes, but if there was a problem, a stewardess could simply work the manual inflation tube and things would work out fine.

I think you are missing the bigger issue. That pilot is a classic example of the institutionalized patriarchy and racism inherent in our system. His flight attendant?

How dare he suggest he owns the black flight attendant. She should be outraged. We should all be outraged.

Why does he immediately assume that just because the flight attendant is female she couldn't defend herself? He should have let her fight her own battle to show he accepts that women can do ANYTHING men can do just as well, or better.

He owes her an apology.

Yes, the infellation tube is easily accessed in the cockpit. :D

Just so you know the plane was still on the ground. I think it had pushed back and may have been taxiing but it was safely on the ground.

Strange but not unusual that none of the passengers intervened and the person who gave us the video was a deadheading flight attendant.

The guy is lucky though could have been a live scene of the Adam Sandler movie "Anger Management" in which case someone is getting hurt.

;) I figured as much. I was setting up the joke. Though the sounds in the aircraft were like after the door was closed and if still open security would have handled it.

Pilots are NOT supposed to leave the cockpit for an altercation. I had a DC-10 "hijacked" on a flight out of HNL. I was on ARINC with the crew when the FO said that the CAPT stepped out to confront the knife wielding passenger. Well, the knife was the plastic one that came with the meal and the destination was, in fact, ANC. The FBI grabbed the "highjacker" at the airport and the Chief Pilot grabbed the CAPT when he got back to LAX. It's not done. And this was in the late '80s.
