As a kid I played with firecrackers, M80's and such. As an SF soldier I played with explosives, TNT, C-4, IED's etc.

I've never heard of a firecracker that goes off when stepped on....... sounds like an IED to me. But I would never ever think that the socialist mayor of NYC would put a lid on a suspected terrorist IED days before the 4th of July...........

Central Park explosion injures 1

A man suffered a severe leg injury Sunday after he was hit by an explosion in New York’s Central Park while climbing a rock.

Fire officials said Connor Golden, 18, may require a “possible amputation,” multiple outlets reported. Police and the bomb squad were on the scene.

The blast, which occurred just before 11 a.m., may have been caused by a firework, NBC New York reported, citing a law enforcement source. Police told reporters at the scene that traces of fireworks wrappers were recovered, The New York Times reported.

“We don’t know what happened,” one of the man’s friends told The New York Daily News. “There was a small explosion, then dust.”

Golden and his friends were visiting New York from Washington D.C. for the Fourth of July holiday, The New York Post reported.

Golden was climbing a large, sloping rock when he stepped on something that “exploded,” a witness told CBS2.

A witness, John Murphy, said Golden's foot was "all but gone." He said he spoke with Golden's friends after the blast.

A witness, John Murphy, said Golden's foot was "all but gone."

Most of the MSM are quoting NYPD, "an experimental fireworks, common on the 4th"

Nothing to see here,, just move along Proles...

I've never heard of a firecracker that goes off when stepped on.

I was wondering if you might be familiar with a firecracker which could blow off a persons foot?

Also the story has changed to homemade fireworks OR a home made device. Fireworks typically are launched in the air before they explode. So that leaves home made device. They then say that there is no evidence to suggest terrorism, which always makes me more suspicious because there isn't any evidence at all that says it wasn't. People heard the explosion blocks away.

Quote from the article which is also a link to it.
"We were climbing down the rocks, Connor was 6 feet behind me and all of sudden I felt the explosion on my back," said one of Golden's friends, Thomas Hinds. "The explosion sounded like a gunshot next to my ears. I turned around and saw his foot which wasn't completely blown off but was severely mutilated. My other friend Matthew was behind Connor and all he saw was massive amount of dirt go flying up in the air." (http://abc7ny.com/news/man-severely-injured-in-explosion-in-central-park/1411833/)

Sounds a lot more like a land mine than any firework/firecracker I've ever heard of.
Police also have cleared the three gents of any involvement other than as victims. Why are they always so quick to dismiss terrorism when doing so only fires up our terrorism "spidey" senses?

Another interesting article about the incident included this interesting information.
Mark Torre, commanding officer of the NYPD bomb squad, added that investigators are leaning toward considering this the work of an explosive "hobbyist," an amateur or someone who knows chemistry.

It could have even been some sort of "experiment" that was not meant to explode, as it did, when stepped on, Torre said. (http://abcnews.go.com/US/explosive-injured-man-yorks-central-park-experiment-cops/story?id=40314758)

Maybe it was this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kq7zj8Kd_Q)?

CONFIRMED! IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICE (I.E.D.)" -- EXPLOSION IN NEW YORK CITY'S CENTRAL

A man was severely injured Sunday in an explosion in Central Park near Fifth Avenue and East 62nd Street, and a section of the park has been closed as police investigate. SuperStation95 has spoken directly with MYPD sources who are part of the New York City Police Bomb Squad and they have CONFIRMED the device was "home made" and was an "IED" (Improvised Explosive Device) designed to detonate when someone stepped on it -- like a landmine.

Our contacts in the NYPD Bomb Squad also confirm that the police department is "freaked-out" by this because, they say " IED's are the one thing we cannot protect the public from; none of us can be protected." Random bags that look like trash or litter, strewn about in places where people would normally see such litter, can now be deadly. It is, as one police source told us "our worst nightmare."

He went on to say "these things can be dropped anywhere in the city and no one will have any idea until it goes off. They're small, easily disguised in a shopping bag, a pizza box, a brief case . . . . things people see everyday and wouldn't think twice about. There's no possible way we can protect the public from these things."

A few thoughts of playing with explosives. If you were going to mess around and play with explosives you would not do so in Central Park, too many people/cameras.

Folks that play with explosives usually do so in very remote places, rural areas, not in the center of a "megatropolis".
Most that play with explosives don't employ "chemicals" unless they want to die or are "very" serious about playing. Most play with tannerite and black or smokeless powder. All are easy to purchase and in most states require no license.

Anyone that "plays" with pressure devices or pressure initiated devices are out to injure or kill, not play. These are terrorist explosive devices commonly called IED's or improvised explosive devices. Firecrackers are not made to go off with mere pressure or pressure initiated, usually a fuse is lit and the pyrotechnic goes off after a controlled burning time.

Playing with IED's in the center of a megatropolis is not playing, it's terrorism. Calling such devices "firecrackers" is as criminal as employing the devices as the public is again deliberately led into a false sense of security and the islamic terrorists continue to plan and execute more attacks.

A landmine type IED is not a firecracker but a islamic terrorist weapon and if employed on the 4th of July would not raise any alarms until folks start calling for EMS.

We'll have to sit and wait for another to go off and injure or kill before the socialist/communist government of New York will actually inform the public that it was in fact a terrorist IED planted in NYC.

A low yield nuclear device could be set off by a muzzle and Obama would call it an accidental discharge.

From what I have seen so far, I would guess it was TATP based.

If you google TATP explosive you will find it's a favorite of the islamic terrorists.......

TATP explosives were used just a couple of months ago by islamic terrorists in the Brussels attack.

Hmm, sounds as if the NYPD already have an alibi for all future discharges and random explosive devices.

They are doing so well at random drive-by shootings, gang-on-gang gun violence, armed robbery, VBIEDs parked along downtown streets, and guns, drugs, and illegal immigrants arriving daily from airports and seaports.

Anyways, I didn't think people in New York picked up trash laying or blowing around in the streets. At least that's been my experience traveling through that area. And, this will go a long way towards cutting down on theft of random shopping bags of food, pizza boxes, and forgotten briefcases. "If You See Something, Say Something" will soon be replaced with, "If You See Anything, Do Nothing."

Why, I think they should outlaw magazines that hold more than seven-rounds, a gun that has a detachable magazine, a hand guard, a pistol grip, and shoots a bullet every time the trigger is pulled...maybe call it the SAFE Act. Oh wait they already did that! Crime has fallen sharply since then and the murder rate dropped significantly...NOT!

Central Park explosion , islamic terrorist attack called "experiment" by NYPD

This is how left-wing progressive/socialists work, control the media, control the content, control the reporting.

Anyone on here ever heard of a TATP "experiment"? Worked like a charm, someone stepped on it and it went boom blowing off a foot.

That's no experiment, that is terrorism.

Then again, Hillary Clinton is innocent of any criminal wrongdoing.

That Central Park Explosion was an Experiment.

Eat this: Soylent Green, it's what the left-wing desires.....

Almost forgot, Bomb Boy returned to the United States after an intense nine month middle east training program. Wanna bet when he graduates he'll be voted: Most likely to be killed in a Drone Strike!

Terrorist IED planted in Central Park swept under the rug by NYPD and NYC Mayor.

Enjoy your communist state, you earned it.

It was a terrorist act, not fireworks. When another is killed or injured you only have yourselves to blame.

Keep voting socialist / communist.

I couldn't either beyond this short article:

NEW YORK (AP) — Friends of a Virginia man who lost part of his leg after stepping on a firework in Central Park have started an online fundraiser to help with his medical expenses.

The GoFundMe campaign for Connor Golden has a goal of $75,000, raised from $50,000. Golden’s stay at Bellevue Hospital has been extended due to complications from a local infection around the wound area, according to his fundraising page.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the appeal had raised over $41,000.

Golden, a college student at the University of Miami, was in Central Park on July 3 with some friends. He stepped on a rock covering the homemade explosive and lost his lower left leg and foot.

The blast could be heard for blocks.

Police said the explosive was homemade, likely by someone who had some knowledge of chemistry. They didn’t believe it was meant to intentionally hurt anyone.

Yes a real terrorist attack in NYC is swept under the rug. Can you imagine if the real story came out now? An islamic muslim terrorist attack in NYC?

hitlery would be finished. The corrupt socialist party would be finished.

Got to love the corrupt NYPD, mayor, and everyone else involved.

Make no mistake it was a terrorist attack, it was an IED and it was meant to injure or kill.

Yeah, we were not calling it a "fireworks" incident from the start.

The NYPD and the ATF got very lucky the islamic terrorist did not continue his IED's in NYC otherwise they would have HAD to call it what it really was, an islamic terrorist act.

Average Joe doesn't remember anything beyond his/her fakebook page so they dodged another bullet there.
