Tracing our ancestry has lead to having my DNA analysis . The decoding was preformed by Ancestry.com. The results were not out of line with most of the families oral history, which for most individual's is often incorrect, my DNA Profile 96% Northern European, 4% African sub-Sahara. Everyone on the planet profile's a minimum of 4% African sub-Sahara DNA genetic code.

So, two interesting stories related to this process. One concerns a life long friend, the other concerns my wife.

My friend, along with his brothers and sisters discovered that he was a half brother, as his DNA profile was centered in central Europe and Italy which did not match his siblings, who were all profile as 95+% Italian. His 84 year old Mother is at a lost to explain the situation.

My better half, of Puerto Rico ancestry, first generation American, born and raise in NYC. A proud Spanish/Latina women, discovered to her amazement, that her genetic profile was less than 1% Spanish. Forwarding the results to her siblings
they are in a family identity crisis. "Who are we" is the question?

My response has been, you are culturally Puerto Rican, genetically you are 52% European (Fathers profile, who was born and raised in Galica, Spain), (Mothers profile) 16% Native American, 32% African-Mali. To be precise,
REGION APPROXIMATE AMOUNT
Africa 32%
Mali 21%
Trace Regions 11%
America 14%
Native American 14%
Europe 52%
Italy/Greece 24%
Ireland 16%
Europe West 5%
Trace Regions 7%
West Asia 2%

Interesting stuff.
A friend had his done as they always suspected a bit of hanky panky in the family line and sure enough.
The outfit he had his done with included the names of people who could be closely related by DNA (if in fact they are in the registry).
One of the names was his Grandmothers neighbor.....they weren't always old ladies lol.

That wasn't the primary reason for the search tho, just an interesting sideline.

Many folks find things they did not even suspect.

His mothers line was Italian, father Euro Brit but they found an 18% Turk element ....those pesky Turks raided across the Med on occasion.
