United States Future Army Soldiers

Didn't some nice little ole Asian guy just go to prison for starting up his own army in calif?

And yeah, this is also wrong on many many levels.

Sooo...20 ish people pretending to be in the Army? Why not just JOIN the Army?

Looks like maybe some NG mixed in. That, or the CPT and LTC are retired and just thought this was a good idea?

The insane 670-1 makes me think none of them served. (But I guess a fake Army does not need that.)

Not sure, if they are just trying to do good things and help people, good for them. But, if they are scamming and or wearing uniforms and medals they did not earn, not cool.

Bizarre.

Ok, I have worked for a Boy Scout Council in Oklahoma as a camp ranger and have been involved with Boy Scouts for roughly 36 years.

From what I can gather from the above links. This group has probably chartered themselves as a Venture Crew / Explorer Post to gain some credibility . As a Venture Crew / Explorer Post they can chose their uniform and rank structure (i.e. Law Enforcement Explorer Post).

From reading some of their post on FB and YouTube they shoot AR-15s, which they can do with a trained instructor and a range safety officer. They practice hand to hand combat skills. This I don't about. On one hand I would say any type of martial arts is prohibited In the Guide to Safe Scouting but I don't know how LE Explorer post handle defensive tactics. On FB they mentioned other activities that other Scouting groups would be prohibited from doing as a group.

I see this as a Council being able to start a new unit and gain more membership to improve their numbers at National.

I can also see the possiblity of this being bad for the Council and the group if things go bad.

This has been going on since 2009.

I asked a local scout leader about that and his response was something to the effect of 'Our chapter does not participate in Explorer Scouts for this reason'.

Strange how things change, back in the 50's Explorer Scouts went into the Canadian wilderness for two weeks for hiking, camping and canoeing.

Talked to my cuz last nite. She has taught the BSA shooting course for 30 yrs. Says BSA forbids "army" training. All targets must be NRA match, no bad guy targets, ect ect.. Now, she is in NY, so she could be left-wing tainted??

Also, found this link on the BSA and Learning for Life..

link: BSA statement (http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/Commissioners/newsletter/bsa_news/05_2015_lfl.aspx)

Learning for Life is one of the programs that local Boy Scouts of America councils are authorized to deliver, with local executive board approval. Learning for Life is an affiliate of the Boy Scouts of America that is comprised of both a written character education curriculum for PreK–12th-graders and students with special needs, as well as interactive career Exploring programs for sixth-graders through 20-year-olds. Over 280 local councils deliver these programs to over 532,000 youth across the country. Youth participation is open to any youth in the prescribed age group for that particular program. Adults, 21 years of age and older, are selected by participating organizations for involvement in the Learning for Life programs.

Color, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic background, disability, economic status, or citizenship is not criteria for participation by youth or adults. Youth and adults involved with Learning for Life programs, including Exploring, are registered with Learning for Life as participants. Learning for Life participants are not members of the Boy Scouts of America. Learning for Life, a District of Columbia nonprofit corporation, is a separate 501(c)(3) corporation, with a board of directors that is separate from the Boy Scouts of America.

While they have different policies, there are occasions when local Learning for Life and traditional BSA programs may participate in an event. Both programs will be required to follow the appropriate guidelines, especially regarding safety.

Completion of training, registration, and annual fees are program specific and not transferable between programs.

That is BSA policy as I understand it as well. We have the same system & rules in place at our ranges and likewise at the ranges I've been to at other BSA locations.

Teaching kids to shoot it fine, Americans have a long hunting tradition. Teaching them outdoor skills, perfectly fine also. But teaching them combat skills and wearing uniforms, ah no.

I can only imagine what our great WWII soldiers thought when they came upon Hitler's fighting children on the battlefield.

Leave the combat to the real warriors.
